Farhan Akhtar chosen as brand ambassador for the Ford Figo Aspire

Ford India have announced a new brand ambassador for the company’s upcoming big ticket product – the Ford Figo Aspire. The famous face that Ford’s expecting to attract the crowd is the Bhaag Milka Bhaag star, Farhan Akhtar.

The actor/director/producer/singer will now add “brand ambassador” to his list of achievements. And, according to reports, the actor is getting well acquainted with people behind the promotional campaigns.

The all new Ford Figo Aspire was unveiled at the company’s new manufacturing plant in Sanand, Gujarat, in March where it and the Figo hatchback will roll-out from. It will launch with a choice between two engines: a 1.2-liter TiVCT petrol engine and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. A more-powerful 1.5-liter petrol with a dual-clutch automatic transmission is also expected, perhaps at a later stage, as the company specifically stated “two responsive and economical engines” in the announcement.

The Indian-spec next gen Figo hatchback is identical to the Ford Ka sold in Brazil, that Ford India is yet to formally reveal. It will sport a new design that falls inline with Ford’s latest design philosophy, and a well equipped interior with some segment-firsts
Competitors: Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Dzire, Tata Zest
Expected Price: INR 5.5-7 lakhs, ex-Showroom
Launch Date: June 2015 (tentatively)

Ford India updated Aspire with the new pictures. Car looks cool and premium compared to other cars in compact segment. Good news is that it is also coming PowerShift automatic transmission, 6 airbags, ESP, Hill Hold Assist (All are first in segment). Safety features look top class.

This car has all the right ingredients to become a success. It might not sell as much as DZire even if priced cheaper, considering many people blindly buy it without even seeing other cars. But Multiple Airbags, 6 Speed DCT Gearbox, SYNC System are all the things that show that this will be loaded just like Fiesta, Ecosport. Add to that the Dynamics & Build that Fords are known for, and you have a very good all-rounder in this segment.
Dear Ford, please price it attractively and don't increase the prices going by demand like you did for Ecosport.

I just went through the whole ford figo aspire section in ford's indian website.

There is one drawback here owing to its sub 4m size. If the boot size is good, then the internal space has to be compromised and vice-versa.

The looks,fit and finish looks immaculate and ford boasts build quality to be pretty good and they call it high strength steel cage.

If they can price it in the dzire and xcent territory, we have a winner here. It will take time though and expecting it to sell in ecosport numbers is way too early.

I am waiting for this car far more than anyone.

Same here man, have been waiting for a good Ford sedan with interior space, and the new Figo Aspire seems like a perfect match for what I was looking for,
Specially since it gets a Powershift AT as an option,
Also the boot space might not hinder interior space if Ford has made the rear torsion beam stronger and lower, this would increase rear suspension noise but can aid both good interior space and boot space, the VW Vento and Rapid are essentially a VW b chassis that spawns Polo,Audi A1,etc and I hope @kishore knows how much legroom Polo has but in Vento is it surprising that it has more legroom and space,
Its not simple to do that in an under 4m car as the GC has to be adjusted by moving rear axle in accordance with the lowered rear torsion beams,but from the pictures it seems like Ford hss done more than enough home work to manage good space and boot space ,sure I dont think Aspire will boast more space than Xcent and Zest and Amaze but it will be right on par with them,
But the addition of 6 airbags,more than 20% use of high strength Boron steel,SYNC,etc means the new Figo Aspire is set to ROCK,even if it dosent roll as much as the competition does,the new ASPIRE is a SOLID work by Ford India that deserves humongous credit.

Internal space looks good based on pictures. Fit and finish looks amazing in pictures. I sincerely hope this becomes super hit at least for the safety features offered in the segment are not even available in C-Segment cars. But as Nishant called out Ford should not keep on increasing prices and kill the product success like they did in case of ECOSPORT.

I am currently looking for a new car and ford classic caught my eye. 350Z's ownership review has made things tougher for me and his white car just looks stunning(subjective). Now, in other threads I discussed regarding going for a car that would be phased out. This is where I made it a point to wait for the figo aspire sedan rather than booking the classic. I let my brain decide rather than going for my heart. Things are not always the same in real time conditions.
Space management is something ford has screwed up real time. Judging things by promotional pictures is a bit difficult. Lets hope that ford has rectified this after we get the official reviews and have a look at it in person.

I think you should wait for the Aspire. Ford (Fiesta) Classic is a great car no doubt in that, but it will be soon phased out and resale value will take hit. The main weakness of Classic was cramped rear but with Aspire, Ford seem to have solved the problem. The cabin looks spacious. Once you have seen it, in case it didn't impress you, Ford will be happily selling FIesta Classic left with them at tempting discounts. I already see Aspire being better then Classic. Ford wants volumes from this and the hatch, so they'll do everything right in order to make them success.

I am currently looking for a new car and ford classic caught my eye. 350Z's ownership review has made things tougher for me and his white car just looks stunning(subjective). Ford Figo Aspire’s interior and 6-speed dual clutch AT images released

Expected to launch next month.

Ford India has released a dozen images of the forthcoming Figo Aspire compact sedan, which is expected to go on sale next month. This is the first time Ford is releasing interior images of the car, as the Figo Aspire showcased at the Sanand plant inauguration had its doors locked.

The dashboard seems borrowed from modern day Fords like the EcoSport and Fiesta with the high-set SYNC multimedia system. The buttons on the center console are no doubt shared with Ford’s other products, as are the door handles, steering wheel and power window switches.

The lower part of the center console features the controls for the automatic climate control system, or the manual AC knobs in case of the base variant. Ford has also released an image of the 6-speed PowerShift (dual-clutch in Ford’s language) transmission, which will be exclusive to the petrol version.

he diesel, which will be a 1.5-liter unit, will come paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, as will the 1.2-liter petrol engine. The PowerShift would be available solely on the 1.5-liter petrol engine, according to reports.
When it launches next month, the Figo Aspire will be the only car in its class to offer side and curtain airbags in addition to dual front airbags, ABS and EBD.

The video shows the ka+ sedan sold in brazil. The length of the car is more than 4m. Whereas the one we have in India is less than 4m and the dimensions do change with that. Even if they manage to accomplish the rear space of the cars they sell in brazil, its half the battle won. The boot space however should be atleast as much we have on zest (more the better) , unlike the cramped boot of the dzire. And as said-the pricing plays a major role. Honda jazz is one such victim of pricing, hope ford doesn't do that to the aspire.

Check out the wheelbase of Ford Ka+ and Ford Ka, they are the same, even in the video thsts what they are discussing , the KA and KA+ has same interior space, and from what I understand as of now the Figo Aspire has more than enough legroom and will have more than 300l of boot space ,
These numbers are very competetive in segment,more importantly the new Figo Aspire has much better interior quality,ergonomics,features,engines,gearbox choices,best stock audiobsystem in any car under 15 lakh Rs,6 airbags and ESP ABS EBD, means TOP NOTCH SAFETY,much much stronger and lighter chassis and body, so one cant say its just OK when a lot of other things like these can be taken as granted.

Expectations are pretty high and the market is really on fire. If Ford prices this right , I will be the first one to book this car. Fingers crossed.

Anyone knows the tyre profile of Ka/Aspire.

I think Ford will retain 175/65 R14 size tyres as found in Brazilian counterpart the ford ka sedan. I am skeptical about the ground clearance. From the pics the ground clearance looks a bit less.
