Re: Ford Fiesta Facelift Coming To India in 2014

What a driver's car it is. My humble request to all Ford owners, change engine oil well before specified interval, maintain coolant, keep a check on oil & coolant leaks and take preventive measures. Then your cars will keep on giving you the pleasure of driving it. And they wont even give you a problem as long as you own it.[:)]
A very good advice and well taken as a fanboy, I am sure to check on it bro since I need the best of my Figo till a next Ford enters my garage[:D]

By the way, is Ford 1.5 TDCI Fitted with a DPF filter ? If DPF filters are fitted to Toyota 1.4 D-4D for matching Euro IV emission norms, I must also change engine oils earlier than recommended.

Its there in all European TDCis and I dont know exactly whether its there in Fords TDCis which we get in India, probably it has it, and most modern diesel engines have this filter, as it has become a vital part for most diesel engines,
India still is in Euro 4 or BS 4 level right, so its not a must in India but in Europe where Euro V has already set in almost all diesel cars have DPF filter

Re: Ford Fiesta Facelift Coming To India in 2014

Good to know that 1.6 TDCI post 2008 is proving to be very reliable as per Honest John's review UK. Since the same 8V 1.5 TDCI that is derived from 1.6 is used in India & now coming with a timing chain instead of a timing belt. But still some people are complaining about the reliability issues in TDCI engines which is highly debatable. It can be the mistake of dealership or owner or can also be a manufacturing defect. But what I am hearing all around is the reliability issues related to Ecoboost petrol engines. Many of them are facing problems, I would say it is better to wait & buy the ecoboost engines while Ford fix those defects in future. It's better to wait than being a lab rat for Ford.

@1989rs500 Do you know where is the glow plug control module located for the fiesta? I hope that they didnt place it below. It might go kaput in rainy seasons. When I bought my fiesta in 2006, airfilter inlet was placed way below & I know a few owners who were devastated due to their engines getting seized due to water & showing their anger. I was the lucky one who escaped the monsoon. Later they recalled it & placed the airfilter into the front quarter panel above! My car was also involved in the recall.
@Bopanna I saw your post about what happened to anisin84 yesterday, I went throw all the details that were posted by anisin84, I heartfully feel sad for him & I also thank him for posting his experience & letting us know about it. Time & money are most important factors in our life & cars play a major role in our lives. Now we are in a digital age & forums like TAI will help us make right decisions. The main reason for writing this post reminded me of things that I experienced personally in Mody Ford Secunderabad a long time ago. Ford has done the mistake again. You can see the above quote that I have posted in this thread sometime ago.

And finally the owner haven't got any support from Ford & he had to shell out a whopping 3 lakhs to replace his engine. The only thing that led to this big problems is the air intake pipe was put way below.

Re: Ford Fiesta Facelift Coming To India in 2014

@Apple I don't think Ford is going to take any chances, since Ecosport & Fiesta are value offerings from B & C segments. They are going to launch fiesta soon. And especially Ecosport is the car bought by masses so no way Ford is taking any chances, so most of the problems would have been rectified by now. It is very safe to buy 1.5 TDCI as of now. But not the ecoboost engines. I have driven 1.4 TDCI for a lakh kms so I will bet my money on 1.5 TDCI if I were you. It is everyway improved in terms of performance as well as reliability. I can safely say that I have seen Ford diesel engines are having less NVH levels with fewer problems when compared to VW/Skoda engines. I rate Fiesta 1.5 TDCI with lowest NVH levels and next comes corolla 1.4 D-4D a close second.

If you get to know the Prices then please let me know [:)]. My ownership experience with Ford diesel and the kind of driving dynamics that it gave me is not letting me make a firm decision. And coming to reliability of the engine, according to my experience with Cars there a lot of luck factor involved. I have read about water wading issues, toppling issues of the Ford Ecosport and the same time I have seen Ecosport owners who are happy without any problems. It is similar in my case too, when I owned my Ford Fiesta diesel (which was sold in good numbers). It is hard to predict the reliability. Why don't I encourage Ecoboost engine is, that engine has not been sold in large number. Finally, for me its all about how Ford prices the car.

I tried to squeeze pricing information, but no luck.

As per this article, it will be priced 7.5-10 lakh (ex-showroom) [:D]

BTW, took the delivery for EcoSport Titanium Diesel today.

Congratulations bro [cheers], if it is priced under 10-lakhs then it will be under 12% tax bracket. By the way, what was the color you chose & how much did you pay for it ? Did you choose the top end trim without the keyless push button start ? So entirely for how many days did wait to get your car. And let us know about the kind of service that you are getting from Fortune Ford dealership in future. I wish you good luck with your car.

Hey Volksjäger, posted the details in the EcoSport official road test thread as it is more relevant to post there.

The Indian TDCi doesn't have a DPF. If you look at the UK Ecosport manual (pg 57) and compare to the Indian one (pg 45). The section about "instrument cluster" is missing the DPF warning lamp in the Indian version. Neither does the service schedule mention DPF replacement for India. If DPF is presnet, this is normally replaced after 75k kms. The cost of DPF is easily upwards of $150 and moreover, DPF is sensitive to quality of fuel.

A very bad miss for Indian market

Re: Ford Fiesta Facelift Coming To India in 2014

Fiesta fire in me is coming down day by day [sleep], Ford should launch it soon with a spectacular price. If Ford really prices Fiesta titanium for 10 lakh rupees, then it is a steal. Honda is really selling many I-Dtec city's and people are buying them like crazy. I hope Fiesta at least beat or match the sales of city. The biggest let down for Ford is not Ford India, its their dealership network. Ford is a good car with a crappy ASS all over India. This is a fact, except a few good dealerships.
