Mileage Update:

Till now the average was hovering around 12-13kmpl in 100% city traffic with 100% ACC. I used to enjoy the turbo during this time and touched 2.5k rpm. Then decided to drive with a very light foot. Drove for around 48kms in city and the mileage on the MID showed 14.9kmpl. Occasionally I take the rpm to 2.5k to enjoy the turbo but majority of the ride will be light footed. Seems good and improving. Odo stands at 4800kms

5000 kms Update:

20140111_100842.jpg

Exactly after 4 months, my car clocked 5k kms. Decided to get the wheel balancing and alignment done. Also, the busted tyre was patched up since I thought it's a waste going in a new spare tyre. After all, I would be changing to a different brand in couple of years.

Some notes after 5k kms:
1) Suspension improving - takes bad roads well but still have that thud feel when going over rough potholes.
2) Tyre pressure - 35psi. Feels better now.
3) Steering feels better - Maybe due to the alignment.
4) Enjoying the turbo band and I do take it to 3.5k rpm and beyond at times. But not all good as Swift.

Some mileage readings observed during the recent run:
1) 100% AC with heavy foot - Mileage is around 13kmpl in city
2) 100% AC with light foot - Mileage is around 16-17kmpl in city
3) 100% AC with light and heavy foot - Mileage is around 15kmpl in city

Busted tyre out for patch work:

After patch work - 750 INR

Avg I got today morning on my way to work. Rush hour traffic

I drive in Bangalore traffic. MID never shows above 10.9. [cry]
Do you reset the MID for every trip?

When I did a long drive (1000 odd KMs) I saw 17.9 on my MID. That was during the first 2000 KMs. I now stand at 3000+ overall.

Yes, I do reset when I fill (usually fill for 1000 bucks everytime). When it's not reset, the avg kind of stays like that and it changes at a very slow pace. When you reset it the mileage fluctuation is large. If you are standstill and AC is on, the avg is sort of a countdown timer. The more kms you clock, the avg indicator takes time to reflect the changes.

Even my mileage was around 11-12 during the initial days. Slowly started improving as I clocked the kms. Now am getting around 14kmpl in 100% city conditions. I noticed considerable improvement after 4500kms. Now it stands at 5300kms. Also, you need a very light foot to achieve nice figures. A mix of light and heavy foot is what I use and am getting around 14kmpl (as of now). A full light foot gave me 17kmpl in city conditions.

300km drive through the ghat section.

Cochin - Pala - Wagamon - Kuttikanam and back.
Tyre pressure - 35psi
Average mileage - 14.7kmpl
ACC - 22 (95% of the time)

The car performed really well and most of the time it involved some spirited driving (gear change between 3-3.5k rpm). After increasing the tyre pressure, I felt it took the bad roads really well. Power was adequate but at times struggled while overtaking on an uphill climb. Headlight performance was really bad and now I realize it's time for an upgrade.

Odo stands at 6085kms

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes, it's returning a pretty good avg considering the road conditions and traffic scene here.

The first real highway trip

Cochin - Bangalore - Cochin

Total kms - 1300.5
Mileage - 15.2kmpl (MID)
Top speed - 170+ (to check it's high speed stability)
Odo reading - 9180kms

The car performed really well. The steering weighed during high speed cruising and the car was planted on the road. In the Perundurai - Blore stretch , the car was cruising at 120-140km/hr, although it was 120km/hr most of the time. While cruising at 120km/hr, the rpm was at 2.5k and the instantaneous mileage reading was hovering at 15-17kmpl. Above that and the mileage drops below 15. Had a chance to test the ABS at few occasions and it did a good job but MRF is pathetic. Jumped a few speed breakers and the high GC played its role here. Overall, an excellent cruiser but really miss the 6th gear.

10k Service Report:

Serviced the car at 9.8k odd kms. Gave for service at 10am and was ready by 4pm. Completely satisfied with the work and the vehicle is really smooth.
Total Bill - 1698/-

Complaints reported:
1) Occasional vibration sound from the front passenger door - Rectified
2) Occasional sound from the hatch door (guess many have reported that here ****). The SA also stated it's a common complaint. Said it's from the hinge - Rectified
3) Felt the suspension was a bit hard - Rectified, a lot better now over potholes.

Talked to the SA regarding the confusion regarding the oil quantity and I wanted to clear it before they serviced my car. He confirmed it's 3.8L.

Going for alignment tomorrow as I didnt want them to do this. Will update my findings.

Fantastic pics , the ecosport still looks the part out of the choices in its price range, sporty dynamic and yet elegant, due to white colour,
Any idea of the current waiting periods of Ford ecosport after the bookings being resumed?

3-4 months is the average waiting period. More for T and T+ models.

12,000 kms update:

Had a chance to take the car off road (not the usual 4x4 territory) and over really bad stretch of road. It did pretty well and car was able to keep up. Recent suspension checkup proved to be helpful.
Mileage stands at 13-14 in the city while the occasional long distance drives gave 18kmpl (Alleppey).

Took the car to 3M for a deserved wash which was pending for a month. Car is now back to its original glory.
