@Figoian

Since, this thread being particular to FE Issues of my Car, many may not visit here and also, we can keep in the crux of the topic for which it's opened for.
Apologies brother.

Suggestion duly noted and understood. Will concentrate about Figo's FE on this thread [:)]

Shell diesel is really good. All my Bangalore friends always have good things to say about Shell. Its sad that we don't have it in Mumbai.

Next you can try Turbojet.I tend to favor HP more than IOC in Mumbai.

But whatever you get, if you get it at a Company Owned Company Operated pump it will be of good quality.

You need to try it for atleast 3-4 tankfills to notice any difference.Make sure your fuel filter is new and not clogged badly.

Alternatively, you can try normal diesel and a fuel system cleaner. Cylco(pidilite) makes them, if you can find 3M kit even that is good.It has a fuel system cleaner and sprays for the throttle body etc.

The benefit of premium over normal even at a COCO is that premium fuel contains additives that help unclog the fuel lines and they also provide more combustion using lesser fuel because they are higher octane than normal fuel.

You don't need to use them all the time(although you could, if you could afford it).Atleast 3-4 tankfills a year would be good.If you have any metering problems(the ECU uses the same amount of premium fuel as normal) resulting in a rich mixture then you can try unplugging the battery terminals and leaving it overnight and then connecting it back.

The metering problem happens only in carb cars because you have to manually adjust the fuel and air mixture unlike modern cars where the ECU does that for you.

@Subbu:Have you tried the premium fuel method?Any feedback?
Not yet Jarpickle. Down with Viral for more than a week and hospitalized for couple of days. So didn't get around with the car. Also, the tank is full, will finish it all and fill up from Shell for 3 - 4 fills.

Sounds good.Sad that you are down with viral fever, hope you feel better soon.

Hmm, viral fevers in Bangalore already, pity man !! hope the fever is not with the FE[;)]
Here they have started fogging the drains to kill mosquitoes and the cleaning of water pipes throughout the city is underway. They also issued an announcement in the paper to boil water before use.

Update: Tanked up with Shell yesterday. Unfortunately, the Diesel Price in Shell gone up to Rs. 60.25 which was just 57.35 until last week [frustration]. So for the first time I paid Rs. 2846 for a tank full... I thought for a while, did I filled Petrol???

As I am trying Shell for the 1st time, wanted to drain the tank as much as possible. So the DTE was 20 when I tanked up and it drank 47.24 Lts (up to Brim).

The FE on this Tank Full is 13.91 which is again not any better as I had about 300 KMs of Highway drive which contributes close to 50% of overall running (657 KMs). Let's wait and watch what's Shell gotta do [thinking]

Hey,

I am surprised to see your low FE. I never got such a low FE in my Figo. What is the Tyre pressure you use for front and rear?

Hmmm... That's the whole point I am also trying to make [;)]

I maintain 32 on all tyres in general for unladen.

Try 32 front and 36 rear. I would say driving techniq is what matters. I used to get the same FE initially but after 3000k kms I used to get 17km/l. In city. Man I loved that TDCi engine.

32 & 36? I wouldn't mind trying it. But, does it not affect the handling in anyways?

If you read my earlier posts, my FE was better earlier and deteriorated for the past 20K KMs. I tried all driving styles, but no much difference in the results.

That 32 and 36 will not affect its driving dynamics. That instead increases your FE. Was that a 2010 model?
