Tinker work will come to 12K and (inside and outside) with Dupont will come to 18K.
After the work is done I need to renew the RC and also get the colour changed on it.

Future plans:
-Palio engine (1.2 or 1.6).
-FFE.
-14" wheels.

What is the plan for front looks, are you going with the stock ones ?

Why not consider a fresh Italian touch like of a newer Lancia delta Hatchback or an Alfa romeo grills and make it a head turner of the town.


This project looks very promising and interesting.

Thanks for the update, I have driven the Palio 1.2 Sport recently for almost 30kms. My respect for Fiat Engines is sky high now. Its a good choice you have made.

PS: The cross member on the floor is much better & bigger than in most cars, I guess the cabin must be a real sturdy one.

I'll be keeping the looks stock with a few subtle mods.

My respect for Fiat Engines is sky high now.

And for those who say that Fiat's guzzle fuel; "The most fuel efficient Maruti today uses a Fiat engine!"

The whole car is sturdy. The body is still in good nick even after so much abuse.

So what about that damping cloth sort of thing on your firewall? Are you replacing it? It seems to be pretty dirty, I removed that in my car & disposed it, now finding another piece is a tough job. I suggest cleaning & fitting it back as it was. Is that the Original steering wheel of Fiat Uno?

Sorry for the delay. I was in Mumbai the whole of last month. The tinker job is complete. The car cannot be shifted to the painter as it is blocked due to some road works.

Will be replacing it with Heatlon and foil.

Hi Peter
Just came across this thread today. I am eagerly looking forward to the restoration project. I am trying to convince my sister to give back my Uno (white petrol trend model) so that I can stat some restoration. BTW is it possible to fit an EPS unit on the UNO.

As regards to your signature line, I fully agree. I have used almost all Fiat cars - Fiat 1100, Premier 118NE, Premier 137D, Fiat UNO (still on my name), Palio & lastly the Punto and have had great experiences all the time.

I will be joining my ship next week, so updates will be slow. However restoration work will continue and the car should be ready when I return. Painting should start next week followed by assembly. I'll ask my wife to take snaps at regular intervals and I'll try and keep the thread updated.

hmm, ok I have a visit to Goa in 3rd week of feb'13 and hope you will be back that time.

For your question, I use diesel car, so I cannot calculate that

I wont bother you much, just get 0.01% of that quantity for me.

PS: My car will easily cover 736730406kms with that amount of fuel.
