Here is the direct price comparison of Punto with Swift. I will definitely buy Punto diesel my eyes closed. But can't say same for Punto Petrol. They should have reduced the prices , instead they increased :-P. But still for me Punto diesel is best buy in comparison with Swift.

Fiat Punto 2012 Petrol:

Article about the new features in Punto and Linea on the below source also says that Fuel Efficiency has been improved as well.

The improved fuel efficiency for the Linea 1.3 ADVANCED MULTIJET DIESEL is 20.4 and for 1.4 FIRE PETROL is 14.6.

The improved fuel efficiency for the Punto 1.2 FIRE Petrol is 15.2, for 1.4 FIRE Petrol is 14.6 and for 1.3 MULTIJET Diesel it is 20.3.

Increase in ground clearance makes the Punto look odd I must say

Sound deadening on the fire wall is most welcome as diesels(punto) had a noisy cabin in comparison to other cars with same engine

new colour reminds me of Ford performance cars like Ford Focus Rs

Base version itself comes with what other cars would consider top of the line features like steering adjustment,etc

Since I am (still) in hunt for Punto MJD (76HP), here is my view of the yesterday's launch:

2) Buying cheaper Emotion is no longer an option, have to go for Dynamic, but WILL LOSE ABS

From the brochure posted by 350Z I could see ABS with EBD is available in the Dynamic 1.3 MJD so I guess we won't be losing ABS even if we go for Dynamic model!

Could anyone confirm if we indeed get ABS with EDB in dynamic?

As what the Fiat website says as far as basic variants its only emotion diesel(not petrol) that can get ABS,but website can be outdated so cannot be sure,it seems outdated as new colour is not featured on it

Those numbers were expected as very few cars were available (at least what I heard from SA) and even less choice for colours (I asked for Medium Grey and was told it was not possible to get that on old model).

I think that was for Linea - it has ABS from mid variant while for Punto, only the top one has ABS. The FIAT India website press release PDF has this mentioned.

IMO, Punto Dynamic diesel version has ABS (dynamic has same features of existing Emotion)

These are still good figures. Sales figure in Jan would be lower than these for sure.

REASON: They have increased price of the car which is not selling at all if you check the numbers of competition. Bad move by Fiat, I think they should work on building trust in customers rather concentrating on numbers or increasing price..
