Re: Exclusive! Ford EcoSport Makes Global Premiere (Pre-Launch Coverage: Pg.83)

Forget what people say , do what you feel is right and appropriate for you .
You are right Raja, that works in theory. I always buy what I feel is good but there is certain percentage factor always account for 'what others think'.

I wish my next car should be in the segment of compact sedans or equivalent, But Ecosport is being compared mostly with Swift, Jazz and I20. No one comparing it to Duster(even though Duster and Ecosport IMO should have same interior size except boot)

BTW welcome back to India(??)

Iam not in India still .

Maybe others opinions ( small % ) matter to you , for me they never mattered not just in buying cars but practically in every part of my life so we can agree to disagree . Following any strategy as long as you are happy with your choices matters the most .

Duster gives a illusion of big car and has a big boot rest I found it quite similar to ES .

I sat in the Chevrolet trax in Canada and loved it , if Chevrolet officially announces that they are bringing the car here in India I will wait for it and buy it .

Re: Exclusive! Ford EcoSport Makes Global Premiere (Pre-Launch Coverage: Pg.83)

ok my question: if price permits I would be interested in buying the top es petrol model but I do want an automatic version. Would the top model be available without AT.
The automatic cars are still not the most popular around in India. Personally, I don’t think Ford will risk bringing the top-end variant with an automatic transmission only.

Also Can anyone tell if AT would be a better choice than manual, I havent driven an AT hence I am more comfortable with manual.
Just check this thread out: http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...arison-manual-v-s-automatic-transmission.html.

I have driven AT for about 10 years now and I love it, But it depends on your driving style. If you are more controlled and sedate kind of driver you would love AT. Sporty people on the other hand would definitely choose the MT. Based on the price offered, if its with in my range I would opt an AT. I think AT on Global Fiesta offers more mileage than MT petrol. So I would assume the same case here on Ecosport too.

I am of the exact same thinking as you are! [clap] But I don't want people comparing Ecosport to my Swift too [evil], so looks like I am bit confused till I actually sit in one.
Wow, thats new to me. I heard that FE of AT will be normally less than FE of MT.

...
Yes Sethu, generally that is the case. But in the case of Global Fiesta, it has 'Dual clutch transmission' and according to Ford it can deliver better smooth drive and mileage.
Ford website quotes AT mileage 16.97, MT 16.87 (Yes very minor improvement) but as long as it offers comparable figures it is a 'wow' factor [clap]

S Class, since your overall impression is [thinking], I think its good. I know you used to be bit negative about the Ecosport in general so something made you 'thinking' so awaiting for your feedback. :)

@ S Class

Awaiting your opinions eagerly
Ya, I need to write many things in detail as ES is not experienced by many. I could write in brief about Storme & XUV as almost all the things are already discussed but for ES, I will be jotting down many points alongwith pics. After all I was the only chap there who spent over an hour around ES. Good that I am a man, had I been a girl, people would have thought me to be the model promoting ES. [lol]

Till then, enjoy these couple of pics of ES taken at Inorbit Mall, Vimannagar, Pune -

Hello 350Z,

Are you going to drive the Ecosport next week on behalf of "Theautomotiveindia"? I read in some articles that the car will be handed for testing to automotive groups early May.

So all the hatred you had for the ecosport goes in vain ?

I told you remember , see the car and then pass your judgement . And I was sure the steering won't touch your thighs .

There are some vehicles that give us a gut feeling that it will be winner at the first sight itself. We had the Jag XF, Evoque etc. Ecosport is definitely such a vehicle. Looking forward for the pricing..[;)]

Ford EcoSport Global Test-Drive in Goa This Month

Ford is organising a global test-drive for the company's entry-level SUV EcoSport in Goa this month. 150 experts and media professionals from around the globe including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Taiwan will be a part of this global test-drive. The compact sports utility vehicle would be exclusively developed in India for right hand drive markets. This has been for the first time a global test-drive for a vehicle is taking place in India.

“We are hosting one of India’s most comprehensive and largest product ride and drive programmes with more than 150 participants from markets including India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan and our dealer principals from across the country driving the Chennai-built EcoSport across two weeks,” said Joginder Singh, president and managing director, Ford India.

Ford EcoSport will be a compact sports utility vehicle that will directly compete against the Renault's Duster. For instance, the utility vehicles are the only ones which are getting good response from the buyers. The passenger vehicle segment is struggling for growth as compared to utility vehicle segment. The UV segment grew by over 50 per cent in the last fiscal and is expected to get a double-digit growth this year.

The American auto manufacturer has been one of the first global carmakers to start their operations in India, but didn't manage to capture much of the market and remains under 3 per cent. Figo is the company's flagship hatch, which is the only notable mass market product in its portfolio.

“Before Figo, our sales were just 28,000 units per annum. Now it is over 100,000 units, said Singh. Ford EcoSport will be launched in India next month and will come with a 1-litre EcoBoost, 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.
