BTW I heard most of the ford vehicle even the top variant might not have power windows in all four doors. But this has all four power windows.

And also noticed the audio system. By looking to the setup, does that means all variants comes with factory fit audio. why am asking this is the setup looks like that no other audio HU can be fixed there.

Also the rear power window option is limited to FIGO, but available in all other models.

Interiors are not up to the mark on this show cause car as i strongly believe Ford just made the interiors locally and thats just for the show car only


moreover this car seems to be 2012 manufactured, as per the Code on the sticker, seems the latest manufactured may have better interiors

the ecoboost engine was left uncovered with out the plastic cover, may be just they want to show the engine in the car, as i believe the plastic part doesn't cost them a bombshell

one of the viper seems to be bent

Hope they will bring good interiors on final product.

Source Ford's Eco Sport compact SUV to hit market around June - The Times of India

NEW DELHI: Ford's compact SUV Eco Sport will debut by June this year and the company has said that high localisation level will help it price the model competitively to rivals like Renault Duster and Mahindra's Scorpio.


The company, that has seen sales go down 14% in the April-February'12-13 period, said that the sub 4-meter SUV will debut in both petrol and diesel versions.

"Also, we plan to have an automatic variant right from the beginning to offer a wider choice in the market," company MD Joginder Singh said.

Singh refused to speak about the pricing of the model, but added that higher local sourcing will mean competitive pricing.

Ford has been struggling in the Indian market currently as flagship model, Figo hatchback, continues to be under pressure.

Singh said that the company expects an upturn in its fortunes with the launch of the Eco Sport. "We will be driving in more models in India in the coming years and are confident to boost numbers," he said.

Dashboard is standard one for 2013 entry level vehicles like Focus/Fiesta ( North America manufactured )

Ford Ecosport is likely to be launched in CHINA in a couple of days time.According to Chinese media it is on the 19th March.The Ecosport official web site is already up and running with all the details including the price,variants, features etc.[but all written in Chinese]

The China spec Ecosport seems to have a longer Wheelbase.That means the China spec ES is longer than India spec ES,thus chinese will enjoy greater rear leg space in their cars.

I am posting a few pictures of the China Specific Ecosport for you have a comparison.Its worth to compare some of these pictures with those posted by 350Z.

Are we going to miss these in India? wait and watch!!

China Ecosport Long wheel Base
India excluding rear mounted spare wheel Ecosport is with in 4 M "Lesser price lesser space than Chinese"

I went to Infinity mall today to see the Ecosport. There was lotz of rush to even have glimpse of it. I was not able to see it properly due to the rush. But there were people with mixed reactions, Some were happy overall, some where disappointed with the space. I think, their expectation was something like Storme or XUV.

For it was good, I sat on front seats and rear seats and I was quite OK with the space. And I am tallest in my family so everyone would be OK with it as well. Interiors were good. dash was copied over from New Fiesta. Steering was good, but I would like bit thicker one. Over all I liked it. But need to have a close look when there is no rush and also TD will conclude many things.

For regular trips, the boot space is enough. You could extend it further if required by folding the rear seats.

Hi All

So finally the Indian spec is out

Phew what do i say? It was never meant to be a # 1 car in every aspect, also FORD has to have a killer pricing, what would we expect from these limitations?

The space was always going to be a premium as i had pointed out even in my test drive of the Brasil spec

The interiors and bootspace was always going to be cost cuting measure

Only saving grace will be handling and dynamics as it is FORD DNA under it

People who were expecting scorpio, quanto, duster, Jazz, Indica vista, Manza, Ertiga, Storme kind of space were always going to be Disappointed

I had already pointed out in my review that Ecosport is a Big Hatch on big wheels and a spare wheel mounted to give it a SUVish look. It is no true SUV or even MUV, UV for that matter

It is only a different looking vehicle

Really awesome pics. The exterior looks superb. Paint finish is good. Looks really butch and heavy. Seems road presence will be good. But the moment you see the interiors it feels like a small hatch, anyway i am not surprised coz it is not a full blown SUV. This is a budget car for the people who want to show that they also drive a SUV and need attention. IMO If ford price it right it will be a big hit. We know our Indian mentality. We all are crazy about SUV look and its road presence. ( whenever i speak to my friends about their dream Car almost 90% say a SUV, but they don't know what is a real SUV. for them SUV means big and road presence )

^^ Thanks, But I would say, this is a car with space only a bit more than hatch and higher GC. Only positive about the car I can see is, go anywhere attitude, means the palces where you would never try to go in your hatch. This is purely because of the high GC.

BTW. If I were to be in search of new premium hatch at the moment, I would surely keep EcoSport as my highest priority. (Not trying to say it is hatch). But by just adding 1 odd lacs to your hatch budget you could get sexy looking Ecosport.
