Ford EcoSport Set For Jan 2013 Launch

The Ford EcoSport compact SUV is set to be launched in January 2013 an year after it was unveiled at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. Ford India officials have confirmed that the EcoSport will be launched in India by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Ford has invited Jayalalithaa to unveil their latest product and the carmaker has said the chief minister has graciously agreed. The EcoSport's launch will be a pivotal event for Ford as sales of SUVs have picked up in recent years

hmm

It looks like Ecosport will be launched before Storm in Hyderabad !!

and I seriously feel that it will be a real threat for all Storm,Scorpio,Duster,XUV even Fortuner, if Ecosport is priced competitive and people really do not care whether it is 5 seater or 7 seater

Talked with one Ford SA here today. He confirmed that it is possible for the launch to be end January 2013 however delivery would only start March-April 2013.

Also the top end would come to Rs. 13-14 L OTR. I said that if that's the case, then its going to be another Fiesta case, to which he agreed.

all SA guys will confuse us to buy something which is in there hand today,

Moreover what if the top end is a automatic variant

all we have to wait and see

and my policy is to wait and take after an year

Friends, my guesstimate price for base petrol ecosport will be around RS. 7 lakhs Ex.showroom delhi.logic behind such estimate is the price of base variant of fiesta sedan and duster.Considering the fact that in Brazil, ecosport is priced 15% more than the fiesta sedan,in India, if we apply same logic than the price of ecosport will be Rs.8.53(15% more than fiesta price Rs.7.42 lakhs at delhi).But in India Excise is only 12% for ecosport(being less than 4 metres length) whereas 24% for fiesta,so,neglect 15% excess and the ecosport price can be Rs.7.42 lakhs. But that will not fetch you volumes,because a bigger duster is costing the same price Rs.7.49 lakhs.Ultimately ford may settle anything between 6.99 to 7.24,if,they are really serious.

I think it would be better for them to launch at lower price adn then they can gradually increase the pricing once the Ecosport sets fire on the sales chart. [;)]

Then hell with ES, it will better to opt for proper sized UV like Storme 4x4 Vx or XUV.

If 7.42 for petrol is base, then on-road price will be around 8.25-8.3L. The diesel will then surely be not below 9.5L on-road.[frustration] Then atleast I will buy Storme LX. Simple.

The on-road price for ES should be between 7-9L, 9L for top end. Else, it is dead atleast for me. Duster can enjoy & in 2013 when Nissan will come up with their version of Duster, even whatever sales Ford manages to do with ES, those will also dry up.

Ecosport to be launched in Nepal by the end of March 2013,India launch? definitely before that. Some details about the news in MYREPUBLICA.com news: GO Automobiles -- the authorized distributor of Ford vehicles for Nepal -- is planning to launch Ford Ecosport, a mini Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), by the end of March 2013.

According to the company, only petrol variant will be launched initially.

“The compact size of the Ecosport will fit well in the Nepali roads and we are hopeful that the new car will be loved by Nepali customers,” said Akash Golchha, director of GO Automobiles, disclosing the company´s fresh plan.

“We are expecting the car to enter the Nepali market by the end of March next year,” said Golchha.

Ford Ecosport is equipped with a new 1.0 liter 3-cylinder Ecoboost petrol engine that generates maximum power of 120 PS power and a peak torque of 170 Nm. The engine of the Ecosport is matted with 6 speed Powershift automatic transmission with dual clutch.

The SUV is environment friendly as it generates very low CO2 levels of 140 gram per kilometer, according to the company.

The new Ecoboost engine that is fitted in the SUV is a down-sized direct-injected, turbocharged petrol engine that provides the same output as that of a 1.6-liter engine. The major advantage of the new engine according to the company is that the engine provides the best fuel economy.

With the new 1-liter engine, the car is expected to provide mileage of 20 km per liter, adding that Ford has worked very hard to make the car fuel-efficient.

Ford Ecosport is expected to give a very smooth ride and is designed very carefully to provide a classic driving experience for the users even on the rough terrains.

The upright posture, soaring ground clearance, high bonnet, roof rails and sophisticated cladding are among various features that make the car eye-catching.

“Sleek LED headlights, pillarless rear windscreen and stylishly cut tail lights make this sporty SUV perfect for those consumers who want to stand out from others,” Golchha stated.

To enhance safety, the car comes with burglar alarm system, front passenger and side curtain airbags and inertial back seat belts. The car is equipped with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), traction control, Hill Launch Assist (HLA) and many other advanced techniques to ensure passenger´s safety. ESP is a computerized technology which improves the safety of vehicle´s stability by detecting and reducing loss of traction.

“Though the car is loaded with features, its price is expected to remain below Rs 4 million,” Golchha added.

Price of fully loaded new fiesta petrol in Nepal is Rs.3.99 million and the expected price of topmost ecosport also same price,my conclusion is that both ecosport and the new fiesta are going to be in the same price band.If ford is passing the 12% excise benefit to the customers, then at the most we can expect Rs.6.5 lakhs for the petrol base variant.Pl. dont expect anything below 6.5.

Petrol ES will be hatch buyers. If ES petrol is priced high, buyer will opt for hatch only, be it i20 or jazz; those looking at diesel will opt for duster & those looking at proper UV won't buy it at all. [lol] Don't know who are prospective buyers for ES at this price. [confused]
There are 2 options -

Either ES becomes Figo & sets chart on fire or it become Fiesta & become dud.

Just visited a ford showroom, inquired about Ecosport...This is what SA had to say..
Price range 7~9 L
Diesel engine will be same as new fiesta(tuned differently)
He even showed a picture of Indian vehicle. And it did not have a LED headlights as a result of cost cutting.
Models will be available during Feb end for display, and be delivered in the month of April.
During this time I test drove new fiesta and really liked the drive. Though the back seats looked only designed as two seaters!

BTW, this is my first post [:)]
