Hello everyone, sorry I am little bit off topic as I am new on this forum, I need a help from you all guys, I have booked a Swift VDI with a dealer in Gurgaon, I did the PDI and found the VIN number to be MA3FHFB1S00497597HD, after decoding this VIN it comes out to be Aug 2013, just correct me if I am wrong?
My concern is that, is there any problem to buying a car which is two month old?
What I am worried about is that, this car was in the stock yard for two month, and also can be possible that this car may be already invoiced and may be cancelled latter, please guys help me.

Yes it is Aug 2013, go ahead I dont see any issue. Even we are taking Jul 2013 Alto 800. Please do proper PDI before commitment.

It does not matter for you, even if that has been done as car might have not moved an inch from yard maybe also.

Check the ODO reading. New car should be less than 50 KM.

Thanks Anshuman8 for quick reply and congrats for your new buy…even I was thinking that two months old car is fine; I don’t want this to be deal breaker. As I am directly dealing with the GM sales of that show room, he has assured me about everything, he said that the color (Silky Silver) which I have booked has a huge back log, as this color is not in demand, hope this is true.
As far as invoicing is concerned, he assured me on that part, as per him the inventory was received on Sep 30, 2013. He showed me the dispatch receipt. I trust him as he is very help full.
ODO reading is 26.1 KM. Rest I have followed the PDI check list which I have downloaded from TAI site.

thanks a lot Mr. Ajay sreedhar. my problem is dealers have cheated me by saying that this is a 2013 manufactured car but through other dealer i got to know its a 2012 manufactured car on registration and insurance paper everywhere its mentioned 2013 manufactured car which is totally mismatching. kindly suggest me what is the best thing can be done. thank you

I am afraid nothing can be done now as it is already registered with wrong details. Or may be you will have to go through from the scratch again. I am not sure though. May be experts can throw some light into this.

Your vehicle is surely 2013 model year read this article The model year and the actual calendar year of production do not always coincide. For example, a 2013 model year automobile is available during most of the 2013 calendar year, but is usually also available from the third quarter of 2012 because production of the 2013 model began in July and August 2012. When a brand new model is introduced there may be an additional delay to retool and retrain for production of the new model.These can show a production date that is earlier than the the stated model year.
In your vehicle production year/manufacturing year is 2012 ,But Model year is 2013 for identify vehicle year only model year will be considered i.e in your vehicle Model year=2013

I have booked one and i am expecting a delivery by monthend.

VIN Characters: 17 (beginning with MAT...)

Decode:

10th character represents the YEAR of Manufacture
12th character represents the MONTH of Manufacture

An Example:

If your 10th VIN character is A, then it represents the Year - 2010
If your 12th VIN character is G, then it represents the Month - July

Month Codes:

A = JAN
B = FEB
C = MAR
D = APR
E = MAY
F = JUN
G = JUL
H = AUG
J = SEP
K = OCT
L = NOV
M = DEC

Year Codes:

A = 2010
B = 2011
C = 2012
D = 2013
E = 2014
F = 2015
G = 2016
H = 2017
J = 2018
K = 2019

P.S. The letters "I", "O" and "Q" are never used in a VIN.

There is so many confusion of consumer in manufacture year/production year in case of
VW-Volkswagen,Wildon also stated here in #73 The 4th Character represents the Month of Production
and
10th Character represents Model Year

If the 10th Character is found as B then the model is 2011.

If you purchase a vehicle in 2010 and found the 10th digit is B It doesn't mean that it produced in year 2011 . It only shows the MODEL YEAR

When Wildon already stated in VW-Volkswagen 10th Digit represents Model year of car,But wildon self confusing to consumer of VW by production date and when consumer got his vehicle(Vw) production year is November 2012 and Model year is 2013 ,Then they thinking Dealer has cheated and sold 2012 car in 2013.Look difference between model year and production year in car For example, a 2013 model year automobile is available during most of the 2013 calendar year, but is usually also available from the third quarter of 2012 because production of the 2013 model began in July and August 2012. Hence if in Volkswagen production year is 2012 and model year is 2013 Vehicle would be regd In RC as per Model year of vehicle i.e 2013.
