@ Soumen that is cool. Maybe mods add special remarks to this post "How to decode Hyundai VIN"?
Thanks. Yes I needed this, kind of relief. Since last few days I was scratching my head to get this[confused], posted in other few forum too but no luck. Finally I had to work on this. After a little comparing with others Hyundai car bar code label, Wola! [thumbsup]. Chassis number just provides the month of the chassis manufacture, not the production date. Production date is very accurate and its the assemble date I think.

I hope this will helps others as of now. One can easily get the Production date without asking anyone. I was sure somewhere in the barcode this was hidden. But there was so many numbers its hard to figure out.

Any way to check the production date of a Ford?
You can send the bar code label of the car here, I will try if I can. I’m not a professional. But you can put a post at car dekho forum and ask wildon to decode it. He is a professional and will send you the accurate details, however it may take few days as he is not very much active there. I got his reply just yesterday.

Hey guys please decode this VIN of Wagon-R "MA3EWDE1S00613489HD".

My cousin has booked Wagon R.

I checked with that as mentioned in above link, it says Aug 2013.

Just wanted to cross verify, tomorrow will be going to inspect the car.

Thanks in advance.

How/Where do you get 19 digit VIN for Maruti cars? Which part of car is it embossed?
Hi anshumann it's a long story, this was given by sales person.
He was like until payment is made VIN is not generated and only he can provide 5 digit / character.
When we said cancel the booking he gave the entire number.
Tomorrow will have to confirm same while checking the car.

I am confused[confused]. Is this correct number or not?

First 17 digits gives you the lot number but the last 2 digits gives the month and year of manufacturing.

Here goes our experience:
When we told the competitors name and said to cancel the booking, he just panicked.

Within few minutes she got a call from GM, and the earlier Sales person who said car can be seen only on the day of registration is now ready to take us to the dealer yard.

Tomorrow will be inspecting, so only posted it here.

They were adamant in getting the payment first before giving the VIN.

He almost had an excuse for what my cousin was asking him, and i was guiding her[evil].

I told her to hold the payment and cancel the booking, that is when he came to track.

Even this dealership has given 23,000 discount 1500/- corporate discount and additional 7K discount as September price.

Lets see what bouncer they are going to put during delivery, and we have everything in writing.

Now they have realised i guess, that they cant mess with us.

OK after numerous calls and follow up got the VIN our our new Alto 800 ending with *GD, hence its a Aug 2013 model. I guess it is fair enough to take a 2 month old car with the discounts they are throwing in. PDI is going on, ODO is showing "12".

Mistake *GD denotes Jul 13, but I presume it was end of July as per dealer records the received the car in Aug 2nd week. But still I am ok with it as dealer was transparent enough.

There is no harm. But get the usual checks done, Tyres, Battery, Fluid replacement, external rubber parts, external chrome parts.

BTW, what are the discounts given. You can push for more discounts citing 5 month old car.

Hey,

Thanks for reply.

I got basic checks and all other parts seems to be fine.

Discount wise - I am getting approx 30K Cash discount and accessories discount of approx 12-13K.

Would that enough or should I ask for more? ;-)

I think its a good deal. Hyundai is phasing out a few versions of old i10. If your model falls in that press for more discounts
