You cant find Hyundai MOM in this way without 19th Char

I had this details. Professional can tell exact production date by the 17 digit VIN
@ Soumen, when you do PDI of the car please look into B-pillar(diver side) or under driver seat, you should be able to locate all 19 Chars.

Check with other Hyundai owners in the forum.

With the 17 VIN code you will get the complete details, 19th not require for professionals.

And I did the PDI before sent it to registration but in hurry forgot to check under passenger seat. I thought the 17 digit would be enough. When I will check the car next time, it will be already registered.

Hi all,

I have booked FORD FIGO TITANIUM 1.4 Diesel and has paid the initial amount (taking the car in finance) today and im taking the delivery on 9th of next month[:D]. I have decided to go for Figo after going through various forums in our TAI site which made my life easier in taking a firm decision. Thanks TAI.

Now coming to the dealer, I have asked him to show the car which they have allotted for me after the payment. Over phone he said it is available and I can have a look at it when I come for making payment, however after I went there he said "Sorry sir, the car has not yet come, it is still in the stock yard". And then he went on to say that they will go ahead with registration on Monday and I can do PDI on 5th, to which I got amused. Since this is my first car buying experience I am not aware whether PDI should be done before or after registration and hence I didn't told anything but returned simply.

But after looking this forum I have understood PDI will / can be done before registration. Please correct me if I am wrong. Also please advice on what to be done as the dealer is proceeding ahead with registration on Monday itself. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

I have confusion regarding production year and model year of car .Can is this possible production year of car could be later than model year?for example production year of car is 2014 and model year is 2013.may be this is impossible.[surprise]

But may be [surprise]this is possible production year of car could be equal to model year.and In some case production year of car could be earlier than Model year.for example For example, a 2014 model year automobile is available during most of the 2014 calendar year, but is usually also available from the third quarter of 2013 because production of the 2014 model began in July and August 2013.

Please explain on above which paragraph are right 1 0r 2.?

This post is to create awareness to all who own a car and going to own a car. We often find dealers do sell old cars to unsuspecting customers without telling/passing the benefit of old cars. Lots of stories came up recently which compelled me to post here for the benefit of all.

Here is an easy method from which you can find out the Manufacturing Month and Year of a Car by decoding the car's VIN.
Sir in Chevrolet vehicles you already mentioned 7,9,10th character represents month, production year and model year.Is this possible production of car is later than model year? Example production of car is 2013 and model year of car is 2012. Please explain.

Yes of course, as per me PDI should be done before registration. Once the car registered in your name then nothing you can do. Its your money and you should check the car before reg, its your rights. But all showroom don’t allow that. Recently I booked Verna and will get the car soon. I talked with two dealer about showing me the car before registration, one completely denied and I throw them from the list. And one agreed before booking and book the car right then. And they show the car accordingly before the final payment. You much do this before any payment once they got the money their reaction changes and they stared to convince.

There have few things which cannot be repair/rectified like the panel gaps, Manufacturing date etc. However in my case I didn’t get enough time to inspect the car. But as you’ve already paid so I don’t think they will allow you anymore. It’s a time consuming thing for them to get the car out from the stockyard and the car could be behind many other cars, so it’s a pain for them and there have many other reasons, that’s why max of them denied. But still you should check the car carefully before delivery and if any issue you should ask for repair/fixing.

Also congrats for your new car, as of now be careful with these sales guys, they are for draining money at every steps. I took lots of precaution but still couldn’t get the best deal, no discounts etc. It is my 1st car too, but I knew about these. Just ask the car’s production date/month. It shouldn’t be more that 3-4 month from now. Few dealers sales old stock, display cars to amateur buyers. And those cars left in their stockyard under sunlight, rain etc for long. That is also depends, my car is 2 month back MFG date but their stockyard in underground, so I didn’t bother even it was left there for a month. So check these things.

In mine case the sales guy bring me to their stockyard to show the car. Don’t ask them to bring the car, you can visit their stockyard with the sales guy too.

There is no harm in doing so, please do a proper PDI before registration. Also get all the lubes and if possible battery/tyres. And lastly push for more discount/freebies.

Do a proper PDI and make it very sure that it was not a display car. If you are satisfied with it, go ahead. Its you who has to feel good driving your beauty.
