Re: DIY for doing something different with led's

now a days we can see most guys use led led strips under body or in the wheels, i always try different things which other don't do, now i tried to light up the grills upside the bonnet. the result was good but not so good because i tried with a led strip about 5-7 cm at center which was left from my last project. now am going to do take a led strip equal to width of grills. and stick it on engine side wall so it'll give perfect glow.
Hi I have already done it, but one thing, there is an bulge/ bend in the center. I have 2 led strips (9 leds each side), as you can see in the pic,
one side looks bright as it is pasted a bit above than the other one, so how have you managed to do fix the led so that the light spreads evenly ..[:)]

Gdave, the DRLs look smashing in your city. Could you give some info on the prices & how to install it? What was the specific brand & item no?

Cheers

Jazzy
I got installed them from a local shop. It costs around 3, 000/- ( He quoted 3, 200/-)

But cheaper versions are available from the online sites.

Daytime Lights - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

eBay: car led lights

My set is coming with 5 LED per piece with dedicated reflectors for each LED.
It is having a nice wiring kit with fuse. (coming with installation guide)
Color temperature: 6000K (Little bluish)

It should be wired to the ignition and to the head lamp/park light so that when we switch on ignition, it will turn ON and when we turn on park/head lamp with ignition on condition, it will get dimmed so that we can use it at night also.

But I connected it directly to battery with a switch with out affecting OEM wire harness. I can use it when ever I wish to.

Philips DRL is available with Pure white lights. It is having 1 year warranty. But costly. Coming around 7.5K

looks cool. have you tried installing them in the fog lights position. i think the drl's have been lil closer
Yes I agree with that. It will be looking nice under the head lamps.
City is not coming with slot (Black plastic thing ) for the fog lamps.
The only place I had is in front of the radiator.

And I have plans for fog lamps. Then I have to look for other places.

Before fixing/Drilling holes, I had placed it there as you mentioned and had a comparison. But from long range look it is not looking sound as compared to it's current place. ( In that previous picture I took it from higher point. That's why it look odd IMO)

Yes, I also Feel So.
Saw a NHC V with DRLs (4 Pieces with 5 LEDs in each) at the positoin which i specified , but didnt look good, They were too low and looked Like the neons/LEDs.

And, yes, thats the reason it looked odd. Now this is ok. BEautiful!

Please don't buy these Chinese DRl's.
Today when I turned the switch I was shocked. ( I used to get if it is working by looking at the reflection of LED from the fronting vehicle) [surprise] Only 3 are working out of 10.
Its hardly one month since I bought it. Rs: 3000/- full waste. And it had not rained since.

For those who are interested in DRL's please go for cheaper ones around 500/- or Philips DRL's with 1 Year warranty.

My next step was to the accessory shop from which I got it. He said tomorrow he will do the free service for the DRL. :(

Hope it gets working fine tomorrow after the service. Was it from a Local brand?
I think Rs3000 is too costly for the drls. You can get LEDs for your car and you will get them under Rs.3000 for sure and look good also. My friend had a Strip of Blue LEDs(aftermarket, local) on his Santro which he has now sold. But the LEDs were bright and Ok after 8 months of fitting also. Not a single LED was fused when he sold it to his family friend.
