Tata Motors has launched six one of its kind heavy-duty trucks and an intelligent vehicle and driver management solution. I'm attaching the press release.
Prices (Ex. showroom)

> Tata LPK 3118: Rs 29 lakhs

> Tata LPT 3723: Rs 25.5 lakhs

> Tata PRIMA 3138.K: Rs 52 lakhs

> Tata PRIMA 4938.S: Rs 55 lakhs

> Tata PRIMA LX 4923.X: Rs 25 lakhs

> Tata PRIMA LX 4023.S: Rs 21.5 lakhs

All these 6 trucks have been designed and built specifically to offer the lowest TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), best-in-class fuel efficiency; longer service runs and enhanced levels of driver comfort, resulting in best-in-class profitability and lowest payback period for the fleet operator.

The company also introduced a Telematics & Fleet Management Service, branded Tata FleetMan. Targeted at commercial vehicle fleet owners and large consigners of goods, the service offers advanced Telematics solutions, which will help in increasing productivity and profitability. Tata FleetMan will initially be introduced on new tractor-trailers, but will be available on the entire Tata Motors Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicle range in the coming months. The service will also be extended to existing vehicles, through aftermarket fitments.

The Tata LPT 3723 is the first 5-axle rigid truck in the country and will be the next big game changer in the Indian commercial vehicle industry. This truck can carry around 4.5 tonnes more than the existing 31 tonne MAV (Multi-axle vehicle) segment. As a result, it is all set to radically change the economics of transportation in multiple segments by reducing the cost per Tonne-Km of transportation. It is powered by a Cummins 6BT 5.9L engine (155 kW power at
2500rpm), twin steerable front axles, a twin-drive axle and a tag-lift axle: the only truck to have such a technology, reducing tyre and fuel costs. The turning circle diameter of 21.9 metres makes it more maneuverable.

The Tata PRIMA 3138.K has been built specifically for deep mining in Coal, Iron ore, Lignite mines, as well as bulk Limestone movement in off-road applications. Considered a tough performer that can successfully tackle every challenge in heavy-duty deep mining operations, its high level of robustness comes with a specially designed stronger chassis frame. Tata PRIMA 3138.K is a 4-axle, 31-tonne GVW tipper with a 9-speed Eaton manual transmission or an Allison Automatic Transmission. The 8X4 tipper is powered by the Cummins ISLe (CRDi) engine which has a maximum power of 380 HP. The product features include new generation brakes, ABS and hub reduction axle specially designed for mining operations. 19 Cu.mt Hardox HALF PILE Rock body specially designed for overburden in coal, iron, and limestone applications. The tipper has a spacious air-conditioned non sleeper cabin that includes pneumatically adjustable seats and an adjustable steering wheel for enhanced driver comfort, which enables the driver to operate for long hours each day, thereby offering faster turnaround time.

The Tata PRIMA 4938.S is the first Indian Puller-tractor to cater to the needs of customers engaged in the logistics of heavy and over dimensional cargo like windmill components, transformers, rail coaches etc., which are critical for national infrastructure development. These kinds of vehicles, imported till date, are now available in India through Tata Motors, at an Indian price. The vehicle comes with the ISLe 370 HP engine with 1550 N-m torque making it the most powerful Indian Cargo truck today. The cabin of this truck is Tata Motors’ world-class PRIMA cabin, which comes with standard AC, double sleeper bunks, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering column, pneumatically adjustable seats and power windows. Driver comfort provided in this cabin is on par with global trucks.

The New Tata PRIMA 230 HP – LX range consists of the Tata PRIMA LX 4923.S & Tata PRIMA LX 4023.S. The new 230 HP range was launched to extend the PRIMA advantage to many more transporters who require a lower power-to-weight ratio. These vehicles are fitted with a Cummins ISBe electronic engine with common rail injection, for efficient fuel injection. This comes with India’s first indigenously developed 9-speed gearbox from Tata Motors with an overdrive function which provides superior fuel efficiency. These vehicles are also coupled with a 430 mm diameter organic clutch and 10-T rear axle to deliver a balanced and robust drive train. The Tata PRIMA LX cabin comes with an optional AC, 4 point suspension for reduced vibration and double sleeper bunks to provide maximum comfort to the driver.

The Tata LPK 3118 is a 4-axle (steerable front axles) tipper developed for Coal transportation, Earth work, Aggregate / Sand transportation, Port & industrial handling application. This product is developed considering increased demand for high performance and fuel efficient tippers in coal supply / earth work. The LPK 3118 is powered by the Tata Cummins 183 HP engine, proven Tata G-1150 gearbox and delivers best-in-class 680 NM torque at 1400 RPM. Tata LPK 3118 also has best-in-class minimum turning circle radius and highest gradability which makes it an efficient performer. The Tata LPK 3118 is available in 18 cum box type body in tipper version and in RMC application suitable for 8 cum transit mixer. The Cabin is designed to give the driver full comfort while in operation and will be available in both day cab and sleeper cab version.

Update! Bharat Benz has introduced the much-awaited three heavy-duty trucks (2523R, 3123R and 2523C). These are only the first in a range of 17 models that are going to be launched over the next 17 months. This is an excerpt from Press Release:
BharatBenz offers value-for-money trucks with a strong focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Having undergone grueling tests – both at the state-of-the-art test track at its plant and on various Indian terrains, these trucks have been built in with a promise of best-in-class reliability and performance. The proven fuel efficiency of BharatBenz trucks is a major advantage, especially in the current day scenario where fuel prices are sky-rocketing. These trucks boast of fuel efficiency that is a minimum of 10% better, in comparison to existing products in the market.

The Heavy-Duty Trucks, based on the Mercedes-Benz Axor platform, have been localised to suit specific needs of Indian customers, featuring a six-cylinder engine with 230 HP (170 KW). in all three variants. The trucks introduce a host of industry first features to enhance Safety & Performance. They boast of features like the intelligent-unitized-fuel-injection system, balance-type rear suspension and inter-wheel differential in the haulage trucks and inter-wheel/inter-axle differential locks in the construction trucks, the unique “Engine-Brake” system, to name a few.

Mr. V.R.V. Sriprasad, VP, Marketing, Sales & After-sales, DICV, said: “BharatBenz trucks will now be available through a state-of-the-art dealership network. This network will offer complete sales consulting, 24X7 after-sales service with advanced interactive vehicle diagnostics, roadside assistance for best service reach, leading to the lowest turnaround time in our workshops. These dealerships will also provide tailor-made financial services/service packages – ensuring comprehensive attention to our customers - all under one roof. LOI’s have already been issued for setting up these facilities in over 100 locations in the country, covering the most prominent trucking routes and hubs. BharatBenz dealerships are already operational in South and Western regions, and will open facilities in the north and east in the coming weeks”.

“Importantly, we have focused on enhancing the value to our customer by offering a significant fuel efficiency advantage and aggregates engineered for long lifespan and longer service intervals. This, in turn, will reduce the operational cost and keep the trucks performing at full potential for longer periods of time, thus enhancing their useful life in our customer’s fleet” he added.

Backed by the financial power and expertise of Daimler’s financial arm - Daimler Financial Services - customers will benefit from the captive financier under the name of ‘BharatBenz Financial’. BharatBenz Insurance, India's first Branded Commercial Vehicle Insurance, offers cashless facility including zero depreciation and a host of other value-adds. Re: Upcoming Commercial Vehicles in India

When did ISUZU launch buses ? [confused]
Some pics of VRL attached.
Isuzu made its debut 2 years back already and quite popular with VRL and SRS Travels in Southern region. There's no presence of this bus in your region?

AFAIK this is the only model from Isuzu in the 45+ seater segment and heard it is powerful enough to compete with Volvos.

Oh. Thats news for me.
Never seen this on road across MH. Here there are only Volvos & Merc & both are now mostly in double axle. I have neither seen i-shift auto trans Volvo bus on road here. [embarass]
BTW, do you expect the MAN truck like the one shown in pic I posted above to be available in India anytime soon ?

South Indian Bus operators like to test new buses when it comes to the market, you could see many of Isuzus from VRL only.

Maybe because of the FE issues think they haven't opted for it.

Only when our roads are free from potholes and road humps, they might come probably, but they would be priced exorbitantly where the users may find it difficult to own and run. But only time should tell, because nobody knew Volvos would establish their presence so strong market in an economy like ours.

Tata is giving its 407 a new look:
TATA-407-Facelift_2.jpg

The headlights looks big, maybe they could have reduced it to some extent, anyway this looks better than the age-old looks the current version has.
