Wow, looks neatly finished. Do you drag the entire wire from the front ?

If yes, you could have got the wire from the rear/hatch door switch.
Any plans for rear cabin lamp ? Do post some pic's taken at night.

Varun even I thought the same. But do not know how to do and drag the wire.

For fixing the lamp I was thinking of my parcel trey since I could get light evenly on both side. A detachable plug in middle if we need to take out the parcel trey like how I had for my speaker connection. In my case I might need to remove my parcel trey when ever I need to take out my spare wheel which is fit to rear seat instead of regular place

Dear friends, just completed my “Project Bootlamp” successfully. Posting the snaps for you reference. Used a Rs.40 LED torch, a 1 amp fuse & a resistor for the project. Hope you’ll like it. [clap]Only the top of the orange coloured torch had been used for the project. Didn't get a black one so opted for the orange one.
@Lucas: Great job, really impressive. Please share other DIYs you have done on your car.

Oops. Am sorry I think I got confused with some other sparky. It good to hear that everything is fine.

BTW, Car Door Sill Plate is good? how it is useful for our sparky? i found some thing with illumination? is yours to with illumination?

@Sethu: Sill plates are good, heavy stainless steel and without illumination. They are required as I had some scuff marks on the front passenger door, before I put them on. So I guess they protect against the accidental scuffs that happen from the shoe while getting in/out.
I choose the non-illuminated ones as I wanted to fit them myself and wanted something that was easy to install.

Thanks Varun. Yes, I dragged the entire wire from the front.

I could have got the negative wire only from the rear hatch. Main issue was live positive wire. So decided to get the boot lamp connected in parallel. The main advantage of parallel connection was that the dome switch worked as master switch for both the lamps. if i keep the dome lamp switch in off position both the lights remains off. and if need be I'll be able to turn the boot light on when all the doors remains closed just by sliding the dome light switch to ON position.

Well, I don't have a plan for cabin light now.

Posting some pics taken at night. I didn't use the flash in my camera.

Guys, pls let me know how you guys are dragging the wire. When I was fixing the reverse camera for my sparky, I have not looked into. If i would have seen am sure I am ready for this wireing task. Since I am not sure about that, I wanted to place safe.

I have the following options in my mind
  • I have seen a LED light online also. If I could get it has switch. So if I could find a direct power which will get power when am inserting the key and move to first position [So that even when I forgot to switch off the lights when I pull out my keys everythings goes off]. In this type am sure I can switch on and off when ever I need.
  • I found another LED light with ordinary batteries. If I could use that no wiring is required. I can just fix it in my parcel trey.

Let me see which one I can do

To drag the wire from the dome lamp just remove dome lamp and pull the hood a little bit to create a gap to insert the wire.then to take the wire to the rear, you'll have to remove the door sealings for front and rear doors to create the required gap for the wire to pass. Please refer to the pics

[*]what is vehicle trunk?
[/LIST]
Trunk is basically is the boot door. A small suggestion from my side, DO NOT go for a logo with blue illumination since it would bother the driver following you.

Has anyone used after market arm between front seats?
Is that comfortable. I actually used my cousin's Octavia where it has arm to rest your hands and I used to feel very comfort?
Will it be easy to use hand break? I don't remember that part in Octavio.
A handrest is a boon, especially when you are driving extensively on highways. IMO go for it.

Note : Pls check my Avatar.[embarass]
Excellent pic sirji[clap].

Friends,

As you know that am in the process of fixing a boot light for sparky, I was trying different options. After seeing Lucas's DIY, I have searched for LED torch with top detachable but could not find. So I thought of proceeding as of my original thought of buying an LED light assemble directly. I searched in eBay and I found a light as below

RAINBOW COLOUR TYPE R 15 LED CAR AUTO DOME
[Rs.150]

But accidently I bought another light which is FLASH Led as it is in the following pic
[Rs.99]

Flash_01.JPG

I realized it only next day while going through my order that i have ordered a wrong one

After getting it I tried it at home and the outcome was as it is in the following video
LED Flash Light - YouTube

Then a wild thought came into my mind. Why dont I fix it in all doors connecting to doom light. So that whenever I open the door this light start flashing giving alert to passing vehicles that the door is open.

As of now I got a pair of this flasing lights. I can get another pair and fix it in all doors.

I doubt will i be able to do it as DIY since am little bit scared to open the door. I thought of contacting near by workshop or an auto electrician or directly contact the service center. My car in due for third service this 31st oct 2012.

I need you suggestions friends.

I am planning to order the actual LED doom light by tomorrow for boot lighting.
