Honda Cars India Ltd registers a growth of 16 percent during September

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL), leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, sold 5,508 units during September 2012 as against 4,758 units during the same period last year reporting an increase of 16 percent.
The company sold 35,440 units during April - September 2012 as compared to 24,191 units in the corresponding period last year recording a growth of 47 percent. Model wise sales break-up was reported as Brio (2064 units), Jazz (556 units), City (2815 units), Civic (47 units), Accord (23 units) and CR-V (3 units).

Tata Motors ' total vehicle sales in October rose 6 percent year-on-year to 71,771 units, helped by strong demand for its hight commercial vehicles.

The country's largest CV maker reported sales of 68,145 units in the domestic market, up 7 percent from a year ago.

Auto Sales: Ford India sells 10,948 cars in October 2012

Ford India sold 10,948 combined domestic wholesales and export units in October. According to the official company statement, domestic demand remained steady with 7,577 vehicles sold in October this year as compared to 8,091 units sold in October 2011. While that is practically a drop in sales, the company exported 3,371 cars in October this year – its highest monthly export ever — an increase of around 20 percent compared to 2,815 units exported in October 2011.

Duster drives Renault India to 6780 sales in October 2012

Renault India clocked 6790 units with the Duster accounting for 5406 units, the Scala 737 units, Pulse 483 units, Fluence 107 units and the Koleos 57 units. In October last year, Renault had two products in the market and had sold 173 units with Fluence selling 114 units and the Koleos 59 units.

Fiat reported 568 units sold in October 2012, down from its September numbers of 656.

I wonder how much they spent on the recent Ad campaign. It seems giving the same amount as direct discount (or 5 year cashless ownership type offer) would have been more beneficial.

There is something worth observing in the sales numbers for October:
1) Figo numbers have come down from September. This is strange as there was good amount of discount on the old model (across Petrol and Diesel) and then there was the facelift launch. Seems did not have any takers.
2) Beat really got beat up. Numbers have dropped alarmingly from 4539 to 2904. This is in spite of having one of the fuel efficient diesels in the market. Was the price rise a little too much.
3) Duster has gathered good numbers. Dual action of 40K price rise and Quanto launch probably did not have the expected effect.
4) Verito numbers have plateaued. Facelift effect wearing off?
5) Micra and Pulse - sales are dismal for the festive season
6) Fiat : Direction-less as usual. Seems they would be happy to be engine suppliers to others.

In reality, a bad festive season so far for everyone except the top 4. For the rest, except a few models which bucked the trend, its a sorry picture. Hope November is a little better.

the fact is fiat cars now have started to look dated. They do nothing in bringing new cars, so customers get a feeling they might shut shop anytime.
