the renault duster has had no effect on the scorpio.

the duster sales for august : 3.4k

the sales of scorpio for august : 4.2k

it means that duster has shed some share of the sedans in the sub 10L category.
you are right . Duster dint effect the Scorpio atall as of now . I thought it could but I was wrong. Mahindra has perfectly placed the Scorpio from its ex model to vlx model.infact it didn't affect the safari too because this month safari sold 1000 plus units.

xover I understand your love for the Aria and I respect that.
But we need to remove pink googles and face the facts .
It ain't all conjecture bro on part of the xover, but solid conviction on the will of tata motors to fight through bad times.Anyways, here are some cars that gained momentum after first being rejected:

1. Verito, its now selling 2K odd units but few months back it was hardly selling 200 units.

2. Sumo= After struggling to sell more than a thousand units now its selling 3K+ every month.

There are other numerous examples, but the bottom line is Aria's journey is not over.I leave you with these lines of T.S.Eliot:

"There will be time, there will be time

To murder and to create."

Hope you got me this time around.[:)][:)]

Fiat
Linea - 75
Punto - 395
Fiat is one of my favourite brand too, sad to see this brand's performance hope the new guy who took over from Rajeev Kapoor will bring some energy back to one of the oldest OEM's in our country.

For a major city like Bangalore, Nissan has only one dealer, whereas Renault already has two.[surprise]
Buddy on my book's Nissan has a least of 2 dealer's in Bangalore if not more.

I really wonder at Fiat sales numbers at times! I bought Punto from Aadya motors Bangalore. To my knowledge, Aadya sells atleast 1 Punto per day. i.e appx @30-35 cars per month from one showroom alone. There are @ 4-5 Tata-Fiat motors in Blore. Assuming everyone sells @ 25 cars per month, adds upto appx 125-130 cars per month from Bangalore alone! How come over all India sales is hovering so low! Am I missing something here!!! [surprise]

In Aug 2012, Sales of Maruti cars is less than the combined Sales of (1st runner up and 2nd runner up) Hyundai and TATA Motors.

Market share of Maruti in Aug 2012 - 29.20 %

Market share of Hyundai + TATA Motors - 29.46 % (16.46 + 13.00)

Total Sales of Passenger cars in Aug 2012:

Maruti - 50129
Hyundai + TATA Motors - 50568 (28257 + 22311)

It is temporary for now and Maruti should be back to wheels in coming months.

That's true, with the affordable cars in the inventory according to the country neediness Maruti no matter will come back to its shape, last time when the same happened, it just took 2 months to come back as they had released Ertiga.

I wish they dont and this monopoly is broken for ever. What they did to India is spoiled the mindset of people with cheaper and unsafe car. Unfortunately or fortunately the unreliability is being burried under wide network of service centre so nobody can raise a finger yet.
They have become a benchmark of automotive industry in india where rest of the manufacturers are trying to follow them (Iam pointing to Toyota etios and more to come typically India specific
