Fiat has quite well managed to sell out the Palio even during the period when it has completed its life cycle, Moreover when there are much better hatches available!

Heard something really interesting.
FIAT has confirmed orders for 350+ 2010 palios last month.

Now think about this as a strategy.
Punto was launched last year in June n sold about 1500 units.
Linea sold about 1000 units.
Together 2500 units approx.

At this time FIAT is selling about 2100 units a month, which if remains the same next month, would reflect a downfall of FIAT's sales YOY basis.
Add to that 350 palios and the sales become almost equal to the last year!

Come July-Aug and we will see the launches of Punto VGT and Linea T-Jet which would revive the sales with or without the palio!

Just my 2 cents.

Whether its a calculated move or not I don't know but if FIAT actually managed to get bookings for 350+ Palios, its commendable IMHO.

Ichimaru, that good strategy w.r.t marketing and sales figure. But they should work on "why sales is down from 2500 to 2100?".

But how did they manage 350+ palio booking.

I have no idea. In fact i have no source to confirm the same.
Yes they should work on lower sales but the sales are bound to go down once the initial hype is over. (well swift is one exception)
Having said that i think FIAT should now think about opening their own dealerships.

350+ Booking of Palio are surprise BUT if it was not actual then how Fiat has achieved them? Fiat has great products in their hands, All they need to do is spread the word about their quality of after sales service.

I think something is misunderstood here.
from what i read they actually got booking for 370 odd palios by offering hefty discounts.

As far as falling sales are concerned the launch of new cars is too take care of that only.

Sad to read that the 800 which topped the charts by selling 20,000 units each month has now come down to 2,000. Though, the car has been phased out from 14 major cities but glad to see that people in rest of the country are still picking it.
