Re: Booster Brakes & Brand New Clutch on Maruti 800 contd...

I am really happy & the money spent on this upgrade is worth it. Infact I recommend & suggest to every Maruti 800 owner to upgrade to this booster brakes asap, if they are yet to do so.

Thanks ss80. I got a serious idea on this. The 2 big -ves in my M800(2008 model) are
1. Powerless AC
2. Hard Brakes(kind of Lorry brakes, when compared to the i10 that i drive).

From your post, i found the answer for Brakes. And do you have any solution for powerless AC. My AC consumes fuel but isn't powerful as its not a compressed AC.

Is it factory fitted A/C ? If yes only thing can be done is upgrade the blower motor and the condenser fan.

Yes Varun. Its a factory fitted AC. But unable to withstand chennai's noon heat(42degree C).But the same AC is adequate during nights. i10's AC is really good all time. Its for this AC reason, sometimes i think of selling my M800 out of my garage.

I took my car to OMS motors , MASS in Chennai. A technician told me AC for your car's capacity is functioning well. And added that nothing more can be improved. He told me to exchange my M800 for a swift for a better cooling. But he sounded as if he hasn't tried upgrading any ACs before.

Sorry for the late reply. Maruti 800's AC is generally weaker than any other car. There are 2 reasons for this
1. M800 Engine is not powerful for Ac + Driving at the same time. It is a fact that every M800 owner lives with.
2. M800 uses the older AC gas (R12 gas) which is no more legal & the R12 ac setup consumes a lot of engine power, but cooling wont be that great.

Solution:
1. Costliest option is to get rid of the complete AC kit (sell it off for approx. 3K) & get a new R134 Ac kit (easily available) - total kit cost would come to approx: 25K. The ac will be much better than the factory kit but still it would be no where near i10 or even alto.

or

Easier alternatives:

1. Do not tamper the existing Ac setup, instead opt for high quality 90% VLT (transparency/ Visul Light Transimission) sunfilm for the front windshield ( & 70% VLT for all other glasses).
This will reduce the heat entering the cabin, so cooling work for AC is reduced.

2. Replace the radiator fan with a higher wattage fan (if it is easily available)
3. Avoid dark seat covers too.

The above steps can get you better AC cooling effect. The difference still would be marginal only. The last 3 steps above will cost you nearly 4K, but I highly doubt if you will be satisfied withe outcome. This post is not to discourage you, its just a word of advice - "AC in M800 is not worth spending your money".

@Kiruba:You have made posts on this very same issue on two threads.

Please use the search function and post only in the relevant thread. If and only if you cannot find one, then start a new thread and mention all the important and relevant details about your car and the specific problem.

This thread clearly starts"Booster Brakes & Brand New Clutch on Maruti 800"

Please continue your post on the "Maruti 800 Air Conditioner (A/C) Problems" thread.

http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...-air-conditioner-c-problems-3.html#post291060

Please stick to one thread in the future.

Ps:Request Varun and ss80 to help out on AC thread as well.

hi im new to here!!
me too wish to upgrade my breaks but little bit worry wether it may affect the warranty given by the manufacture.?:D
Hi Dimuthu,

If your car is under warranty you might not want to do this because it will void the warranty.

Best regards,
Charitha

Maruti had given brake booster in its 5speed 800 too. If you are worried about warranty issues, why not get the booster installed at the MASS?

Re: Booster Brakes & Brand New Clutch on Maruti 800

The T Joint comes in the kit.You don't need to get one if you buy the KBX kit.

Unfortunately if you buy the parts from MGP you get them all separate and the T joint need to be made at a lathe or a specialist engineering shop.

If you have an A/C you need two open ends on the T-joint,one for the booster and one for the A/C.

You just need to remove the old master cylinder and fit the booster cum master cylinder in its place.

MASS does make a fuss about it, but many are willing to do the job.Its not rocket science so a local garage can do it as well.

Just be sure to check the brake pedal feel before and after. Also the booster needs the engine to be running else its just like the old mechanical brake.
Hi Can you please suggest where to buy KBX complete kit (including T point)? I'm residing in Jaipur.
