You can get the Swift's or Ritz's rear head rests it would look good and also fit properly . But it needs welding of support rods too.

Ha ha you dint answer my question, painting the A,B,C pillar in beige ?

Re: :D

Sorry I missed to answer that question. I am not planning to paint the pillars as of now. Even the floor has to live with the single coat, Whenever I do a DIY car repaint, I will make it two tone - Beige inside, metallic red outside.

Working on Beige Door pad rexins now, that should make it somewhat better than the grey stuff I have. What do you say?[;)]

Hmmm do we need supporting rods? is it possible to just weld them to the back of the seat? & anyway the dikki carpet covers everything from headrest to the boot door locking area.

Hi,
Hammertone paints are available in the market. It is far better than ordinary paint for inside the car cabin. Many shades are available also. Just check it.
One again hats off to your excellent DIY. [clap]

Thanks again Mr.Rao, This time I have used Dupont paint for the interiors (dashboard & floor) It is my mixing of thinner & hardener that went slightly offroad, so the dark brown dashboard colour became like this [frustration].

I will certainly keep in mind the Hammerstone option.

Here is the video of dashboard painting.

Here is a small update guys, today I have successfully fit the Rear quarter panel glasses.
Tried placing dashboard inside cabin to see how it looks (Please share your opinion on how it looks)

I tried removing the front windshield & to my horror the rust around the rubber beeding is pretty high, so much that when i tried to push out the beeding using screw driver ther metal edges inside started to chip off!

Also there is a crack under the front wheel arch (passenger side), Rusted holes on A pillar driver side & also at both bottom corners of the windhield area.

I have spoken to a tinker person near my home & will take my car tomorrow morning to him. Not sure how much he will be charging, but I cant do anythiung further till these welds are done. I feel, A beautiful car with excellent interiors is of no use if the the structure like A pillar is just rusted & has holes etc in it.

The tinker person says he would be charging a bit more if windshield has to be removed & fit back. Anyway I have to change the beeding so thought of getting it done there itself.
I can remove the windshield but in case after the welds are done, if the glass doesn't fit it can be quite an issue.

Here are a few pictures.

Thanks Hari, For time being welding, tinkering & interiors are top priority. I may go for wheel caps & door visors too but may be after a months time.

In my opinion you should re-paint the dash to a darker shade of brown.

Get the A pillar and glass beeding welded (patch work) or else the rust spreads around.
Is it only on right pillar or on both the pillars ?

The under body rusting near front wheel arch is common in all 800's mine too has started rusted even after 3m coating.. Getting the part welded is the best solution, the new part costs around 12k.

Hi,
I agree with Mr.Varun. According to me black is the ultimate colour for dash. During bright days reflection of dash board is more in the front mirror and causes distraction.
Corroded things has to be set right now itself otherwise it will deteriorate the structural stability of the car.
Good work, keep it up.

Bought more spares for car

Varun & Rao 66: Thanks for your valuable opinion. I too agree, the dash looks good but the reflection on the windshield is quite a concern. The problem is I am not a professional painter so no matter which colour i choose, I mix the thinner & spray it, once the paint dries it looks lighter than the actual paint.

I am thinking of buying very dark brown paint & paint the dashboard again.

Today purchased some more items for the car

1. Tail Lamps - Lumax
Tail lamps.JPG
2. Type 2 - Wiper Arms & Bosch Wiper blades
wiper arm & blade.JPG
3. Rear windshield gasket
4. Brake pedal rubbers
5. Esteem boot release cable, Zen fuel cap opener cable & Zen Lever to open both
lever close up.JPG
6. Glass roller handles - Type 2

7. Knobs to lock & unlock doors
all in one.JPG

8. Painted the steering column using white spray can I had, brake pedals too would get same painting

Treating the rust around the windshield gasket area is important & yes bottom corners of both the A pillars have severe rust issues.

I am taking my car to the Tinker shop tomorow so fixed the driver seat, all electricals (wiring & some bulbs etc) New issues cropped up this time.

wiring exit 1 & 2 (1).JPG

wiring exit 1 & 2 (2).JPG
Wiring is passed through the chassis area instead of the middle of the floor.
Some mild extensions to be done to the cabin door light wires & handbrake switch connecting wires.

The radiator fan is not working, despite the engine running in neutral (stationary & idling)
for over 5 mins.

where do i place the jack.JPG
Is this the right way to fix the stepney in the storage area?

Foam sheet under the front seat sponge, trust me it can do wonders in increasing comfort. I am planning to get new seats from some other car, so not interested in putting seat covers to the existing half dead seatings.

coolant with oil.JPG
My worst nightmare might come true. I suspect there is oil floating in the coolant tank. Please see the picture carefully & advise me if I am right. Because as it is I need a new radiator & now the head gasket might be in line too.:help:
