Re: Bailed Out From Ecosport. What's Next?

I wont advice the current 2012 model new Fiesta, I think the 2014 model is on its way to India, I got news that it might reach Chennai from Thailand by 2013 December itself with new Aston Martin looks etc, also if the new Fiesta gets 1.5 Diesel engine as per Ecosports tune that is with minimum turbo lag it will be a whole lot fun to drive and will be a boon to own, the new 1.5 diesel is a turbo inter cooler version much like in Skoda Octavias(lasts really long I ve seen an Octavia with 2 lakh+ kms 2004 model with engines running really smooth) so it should last long with proper service
About service cost new Fiesta costs in between 4800-6800 Rs here in trivadrum with the 45000 km service requiring part change worth 20000 Rs, on average it costs less than Skoda /VW by 4000-5000 Rs per service
Overall its not as VFM as Hyundai,Toyota,Suzuki but cheaper than Skoda /VW
thanks bro. hope by mid of 2014 they may launch a face-lifted model and reduce the price. so in that case will they compromise on the quality and remove some of the features in the car like cruise control, Hill Assist, etc etc and make it only in the top end..

What Fords going to do with 2014 Fiesta is completely in Hands of Mr Joginder, Allan has done everything to make Ford a better brand, if Joginder is wise enough he will keep price of new Fiesta same as what the current 2012 model has but with more features like SYNC,MY Key, and much better interior quality in Titanium and Titanium+ trims, with new Fiesta Ford is sure that it wont get the rush like what Ecosport has so I dont think variant mixing after release will be needed for new Fiesta, just because vento, new Maruti iSX4,Rapid,Sunny/Scala ares till very strong that Fiesta will just be in the minority list

The 2014 Fiesta is a chance to do something about that rear seating area. There is a market for 11-13 lakh sedan - but that market won't compromise on rear seat leg room and width.

i think its better to be safe with ford classic..

i know both are in a different segments. the topend model in classic (titanium dsl) gives a bit of options compared with fiesta style dsl.

what do u say abt it

I think I have posted the video of 2014 Fiesta in Fiesta face lift thread, there is not even 1 inch difference in legroom compared with 2012 Fiesta but the seats have changed, it gets better cushioning and a little bit more height, so that we need not dive into the back seats and the new seats somehow gives a better impression of space although its same as before
New Maruti SX4 is areal looker its 1.3 MJD is good enough for its light kerb weight and the new Honda City diesel with 1.5 iDtec with 120 bhp and a whopping 300 NM @ 2000 rpm will rule the segment next year I guess, so fiesta has no chance in Indian market, but it can stay within enthusiasts limits if Ford puts Ecosports ECU in 2014 models 1.5 TDCi and if 1.0 ecoboost finds its way into bonnet of 2014 Fiesta

Yes, its a very wise choice, our forum member @ASIR has a Ford Classic Fiesta that has crossed 1 lakh+ kms, for more information I think @msjawahar should make a chat with @ASIR

I don't think Ford will do this for next 5 years. [anger]

Do what @Marun? Ecoboost will come inside Fiestas bonnet, but as per the info I got, Ford is trying to badge ecoboost Fiesta something like Fiesta sport or Fiesta S or something like that and that will be to justify the price tag of ecoboost being more than 1.5l petrol and just 40-50k shy of diesel price, also the price tag will be lesser than what Ford Fiesta 2012 had through out all variants till Titanium,

I hope Auto expo 2014 to expose Fords premium cars like 2014 Fiesta Focus or Escort and Kuga and fabulous new Mondeo, the market has gained little bit of momentum and Ford has a good share to play in creating it along with Honda, keeping up the momentum is difficult but I believe Ford has got a wonderful chance to showcase Fords premium image unlike cheap image that it has as of now

The technology is being tested on a Ford Focus and is expected to be on showroom models within five years. The car is fitted with the parking technology that operates steering and forward and reverse motion. It can be operated from outside the car by remote control.

Ford, GM work together on new nine-, 10-speed transmissions - Autoweek

The 9 speed auto is specifically targeted for front wheel drive cars and insights from Ford Europe states that Ford might ditch the Powershift DCT technology currently used in C,CD,D segment cars and use the 9 speed single clutch auto box, its reminiscent to 8 speed ZF transmissions used in BMWs and Jaguars, RWD cars will have 10 speed(really interesting as how will the vehicle sound while hard acceleration), the dual clutch dry AT box ie DCT POwershift will conclude in B-segment cars only as weight of 9 speed single clutch is almost as same as DCT in C segment cars and above,Fords torque converters and CVTs and DCTs all AT transmissions were considered sluggish to downshift and happy to up-shift hope the 9 speed AT to find the balanced shift nature, anyway 8 speed ZF is a superb benchmark to follow as it has served really good shift speeds even rivaling VWs 7 speed triptronic DSG which is considered fastest transmission in the world.
