Re: Bailed Out From Ecosport. What's Next?

I used to own a ford ikon, car was great (1.6 NXT) but the service provided by ford is nothing to be proud of..
With hyundai, atleast you get a awesome car in verna and great ASS as well. I am not very sure if fors ASS has improved lately.

Cost wise, the Fords parts prices are inline with the market and the overall service costs are in line with the market if not a bit cheaper as well. This is as per Ecosport service which I have recently got done.

But the Dealer attitude, hospitality and customer care is nothing to write home about. I can call it in one word and that is ''pathetic''. Recently with the Ecosport, they thought they are selling a product for which there is absolutely zero competition and they are doing a huge favor by selling Ecosport to the public.

the Fiesta 1.6 Duratec engine is a very nice engine its good for more than 1.5 lakh kms but not more than 2 lakh kms in my opinion, I know a ford Fusion Duratec with 1.25 lakh+ kms on odo and its still running fine, the engine noise is bit on higher side and POWER tapers a bit off at higher rpm, apart from that its still getting 7-11 kmpl mileage.
Duratec is very good engine much better than Fords 1.5l engine in terms of POWER and its efficiency is on the lower side,

Thanks rs500, for your reply.

Another query, if I get a fairly old fiesta 1.6 & swap the engine & suspension completely with new one for around 1.8L, then how is that?

@mods: Please feel free to tranfer this post if you consider it unsuitable here.

It was the first service done at 2470kms. The cost was zero. They checked all the fluids, topped up the engine oil, gave a clean wash inside out, checked all nuts and bolts and other minor issues like seat belt reminder etc fixed which had stopped working after installing the seat covers. Second service cost should be around Rs2500/- as per the dealer which includes engine oil change and other routine service checks.
Our old dzire service costs were on the higher side compared to the Ecosport[clap]

Initial ownership of cars are niggle free mostly so the company gives us a free service check up. It all matters after 25k kms. That is the time to talk about good service and good ownership experience. Let us see how ES is going to do on that prospect.

Ecosport spares are cheaper than other ford cars due to local manufacturing.

I wont advice the current 2012 model new Fiesta, I think the 2014 model is on its way to India, I got news that it might reach Chennai from Thailand by 2013 December itself with new Aston Martin looks etc, also if the new Fiesta gets 1.5 Diesel engine as per Ecosports tune that is with minimum turbo lag it will be a whole lot fun to drive and will be a boon to own, the new 1.5 diesel is a turbo inter cooler version much like in Skoda Octavias(lasts really long I ve seen an Octavia with 2 lakh+ kms 2004 model with engines running really smooth) so it should last long with proper service
About service cost new Fiesta costs in between 4800-6800 Rs here in trivadrum with the 45000 km service requiring part change worth 20000 Rs, on average it costs less than Skoda /VW by 4000-5000 Rs per service
Overall its not as VFM as Hyundai,Toyota,Suzuki but cheaper than Skoda /VW

Thanks rs500, for your reply.

How can we swap the engine and suspension buddy,I dont know whether ford does that for us, but if its possible for sure its a welcome move
The troubles with Ford 1.6 chassis is the hydraulic steering unit, check whether its too tight when steering the car, the hydraulic system is very costly to maintain as all modern Fords too are moving to electric systems
Check the handbrake , lightness of clutch and gearbox smoothness ,brakes these are the things that we can perceive and feel and can be checked easily, some cars might produce a timing belt imbalance that might make engine sound weird but it can be easily rectified. check idling rpm of car, if its below 1500 rpm, its ok above that it should be checked, Fords AC systems are prone to compressor damages above 75k kms.
Ecosport spares are cheaper than other ford cars due to local manufacturing.
But it is true that ES doesn't have competition at all.
I hope by 2015 almost all B segment Ford cars will have service costs similar to hyundais, thats what they are aiming with localization, it wont become equally cheap as Hyundai but it should be close.

Hi rs500,

Thanks, a lot buddy. Thanks for your valuable advice.

I am not sure about the authenticity of my plan, but one of the Ford's service adviser told me it's possible.

Regards,

ROY
