Eyedocsri: I am a bit late in congratulating you but congrats nevertheless on your black K10. I had my reservations on the black colour on this car but you your pictures look fantastic with those tasteful alloys and 165s. The K10 should easily give you 14- 15kmpl in the most horrible Bangalore traffic with A/C, so 11kmpl is definitely a cause for concern. Hope you have checked the tyre pressures. Let the service centre guy run the diagnostics but ask him to check for binding brakes and a clogged air filter (very simple and can be checked yourself). As you must be aware, mileage depends 90% on driving style ans 10% on the engine. But if you were able to extract 17 kmpl from your 800 in Bangalore traffic, I see no reason why the K10 should give you less than 14 kmpl with the same kind of driving. 165s would account for not more than 10% in loss in terms of fuel efficiency.
Thanks a lot Sam. Will ge the service guy to check on the things you have suggested sometime this week and update [:)]

The best way to overcome this problem is to add spacers for rear suspension or to the coil springs that will do the job instead of changing alloys.

Hi venkat i have the same issue with my alto too with tyre rubbing against the wheel arch I'll be starting a new thread on it soon. I drive alone 90% of the time so have done anything about it I don't want to put spacers as it will affect handling..

Put the spacers 'only' to the rear suspension not at the front.Think this will do the job and moreover spacers are not too costly to install.

Spacers are aluminum rings which go above the rear springs and raise the ride height by about an inchwillcost about rs 1400 including installation

updating the ownership reviews at 5000 kms and 6 months.

my black puppy ran for 5000 kms successfully without a fuss.
Has had 2 free services done.
here is a list of the good and bad things about owning the alto k10.

The good:
1. The engine seems to bit more free revving now.
2.returns about 13.5 kmpl in city and gave me a whopping 21 kmpl on the highway [:D] ( doing about 120 kmph on bangalore-hassan-mysore route)
3. A/c is great even friends with bigger cars were impressed.
4. still have people asking me about the mag wheels at traffic signals [:)]
5. impressive handling at high speeds for a car of this size, half the credit goes to the bridgestone potenza G3 tires.

Add ons:
1.nitrogen filled in all tires.
2. got door sill plates from e bay, boy they make the car look premium ( the dealer couldn't get me one even after 6 months of waiting! )
3.put 4 inch audible dynamics speakers in the front, now my bluetooth handsfree sounds better !

bad:
1. bigger tyres kicking up a lot of dirt on the car have been looking out for a bigger moulded mudflaps but no success so far ( I dont like sparco flaps on my car)
2.The rear tire scraping against the wheel arch with 4 passengers [anger]
I dont want to put spacers. will start a separate thread to discuss this isssue soon.
3.black car is a real labour of love to maintain! ( i spend and hour to wash it and it is dirty by the time a reach my workplace.

If you are looking out for a small car for the city go buy the k10 it will wake up the boy racer in you !
some eye candy for you

The car looks awesome!

Why didnt you get the illuminated Door sills? They are avialable at ebay.

Have you upsized your rims? :stupid:
Better go to a workshop (Mechanic) and get the rear wheel arches hit by a hammer from inside so that they bent out a little bit. My friend did on his esteem when he upgraded to 15"ers.

Regarding the mud flaps, All you can do is to fit the mudflaps of other cars (Indica, etc), if possible. Or, You can pull the mudflaps out ,so that less dirt is thrown up.
The last solution is - DRIVE SUPER SLOW! :)

I didnt want illuminated sill guards as i wanted to keep it very subtle.

the alloys are 13 inch and the OD of the wheel is same as original but the it is wider by 10mm and thats the reason for it rubbing on the wheel arch.

I am still on the look out for proper fitting moulded mudflaps. I was told MGP has a bigger mudflap for alto i need to check it out.

slow and on a k10 no way [:)]

Just check one thing before doing anything. Remove the mudflaps and see whether its still touching the wheel arches. As it might be a case that the tires are touching the mudflaps and creating the noise.
