Congrats on your new ride. i own a Alto 800 and its a model which delevers to my place only. read my thread from here. i must say as you say in post #31 not only the model sold in India also in Sri Lanka (i hope every one know where it is :lol!:) engaging the revers gear is bit of hazel so our maruthi agent asked me to use the same technique as you learned or if we can move forward a bit and then engage the revers its better.

Re: black puppy comes home- our new black Alto K10

Hi,
my first post here.

Congrats on your new car.
IMG_9888.jpg
i was looking at your car's pics and i realised that d bumpers are not body coloured i.e u have a black car with metallic paint but if u look at the pic u'll realise that the tailgate is shining new but d shine on d bumper is blurred if it would have been painted thn the bumper would also reflect the road.

This i think is due to the bumper not being painted,
instead this is the bumper that is available as spare part in the service centre
and is painted to whatever the colour of the car is.
if it would have been painted then there would not have been such considerable diffence.
Cost cutting measure i suppose.

Hey the bumpers used are of fiber-plastic quality,so it makes that difference, moreover these bumpers are painted at factory only.

Hey finally have some shots of the car interiors.
i havent made any changes to the interiors as i found them pretty good as they are.
a note on each pic.

1.the dash looks well laid out and functional but looks plain compared to the Eon.
2. backlit speedo and tacho with tell tale lights belong to a segment higher.
3. scoops at the back of the seats generate some more leg space but i miss the little pocket where i could keep my car documents.
4. cabin light button on the rear hatch! i had to ask for them to be installed for the rear doors and the hatch as thy don't come as standard!!
5.the boot is spacious for a weekend trip luggage and has a flat loading area with nice rectangular opening not a fancy impractical "8" shaped like in the Eon ( potential eon buyers please excuse)
6. yes my stepney is a mag wheel too, that s the proof [:D]
7. the front seats are good and you can get a good driving position.
8. lovely gear knob feels great to hold.

@Eyedocsri, your black beauty looks stunning from inside too! you have got nice alloys! good choice! but why 5? you could have saved the cost for one, you hardly need to use the spare wheel, and you can use it for short period without the alloy one!
Anyways as you have already got that no point discussing it.
Congratulations!

Thanks drive tech. I had bought 5 tyres as mixing the spare jk tyre with potenzas will cause a difference in the OD of the tyres. The 5th mag wheels cost me only 2.5k felt it is worth an occasional pic of the boot [glasses]:

Your car looks good from inside. If the cost of 5th wheel is just 2.5k, then you have made correct decision.

some more pictures of the car when i took delivery from RNS motors.
We got it on 28th september.
they delivered the car with a small ceremony, a box of chocolates and a 5 ltr petrol voucher [:)]

The car cost me Rs 3,97,773 on road bangalore.
the breakup as follows:
ex showroom: 3,29,736.
road tax: 47582  ( where are the roads in bangalore?)
insurance: 10435 ( i dint pay this as i got it done elsewhere)
extended warranty: 4190
incidental charges: 5500 ( i still don't know what for ?)
autocard: 550.

there was Rs15000 cash discount and Rs15000 exchange bonus on my old car (m800) plus 2500 corporate discount.
that makes it Rs 3,65,273.
exchange on m800: 90,000.
booking amount already paid 5000.
final balance to be paid: RS 2,70,273.
I've taken a loan for Rs 2 lacks from axis bank and paid rest of it.

Free stuff i got with the car:
that guy offered me a car cover and sun film. but i bargained for more and i felt i dont need a car cover as i have a closed parking space both at home and at workplace.
here is what i got instead.
1.remote lock
2.3M sun film.
3.ganesha idol.
4.car perfume.
5.steering cover.

When i booked the car paying an advance of rs 5000 i was promised delivery of the car within 3 days after the paperwork was ready but i ended up waiting almost 10 days to get my car due to delay with the paperwork.

Lessons learnt:

1.It is always better to get finance on your own than to go to the agent in the dealership as i've found that they always seem to rip you off and try to hurry up things so that you overlook finer details and you don't get a chance to verify the deal with others. Please look up the net, visit a few banks and talk to people and don't finalize any loan deals at first instance. Ask for everything in writing and go home go through it.

2. If you are exchanging your old car then you can carry over the no claim bonus to your new car and save money i paid 6000 instead of 10k for the insurance for my alto k10.

3. ask the agent to give in writing all the freebies that he has promised as they are hard to catch once you have taken delivery of the car.

next to come will be ICE and first service experience.

first service

We completed 1000 kms well within one month and gave the car for its first service on the 9th october monday when the odo read 1200 kms.

service booking:
we called up RNS on saturday 7th october and asked to be booked for a service on monday i asked for a pick u and drop off to my workplace on rajajinagar. The lady on the other end of the phone said she can not arrange for a pick up of the car as monday they will be short of hands and and agreed to arrange for the car to be dropped off to my workplace at Rajajinagar. i agreed for the same and told her ill bring th cr to the showroom at 8 am. she said they would take 2 hrs to service it and ill be getting the cat by 11 am.

On the day of service:
I get a call from RNS motors at 630am asking if i can drop my car sooner as they open at 630 am and i can beat the rush!!!
I said i havent even brushed my teeth and it is too short a notice for someone to bring a car over for service and go to work.
I reached the show room as scheduled at 8 am.
after 15 mins of waiting a service guy asked me if i had any trouble with car. The only thing i had noticed was some squeaking sound i had heard from the rear left corner of the car during my drive to ooty we took a test drive and there was no sound!!
He checked the car inside out noted any scratches on the body. I wash my car myself so i know every scratch on it.There was one small mark on the rear door and the C pillar. I reminded him to fit the steering cover which he had promised during delivery and was delayed due to non availability of the cover.

he said he will check on the squeaking noise again anyway and i took an auto and went to work.
After waiting for a call till 1230 i called up RNS motors to know if my car was ready. The guy said the steering grip wasn't put yet coz it is for the sales guys to do it and they haven't done it! I made a few calls to the agent got it done and called the service guy again asking him to send my car to my workplace as i was to leave from there by 130pm. Now the guy says I haven't asked for a drop off of the car and all the drivers are off for lunch. after much requesting and few more calls. finally he agrees to arrange a drop off but only after 3 pm but not to chamrajpet ( where i will be in the afternoon) as it is too far for them. [anger].

finally I said damn it ill take time off work pick my car up so that I don't have to change my work schedule too much and i have my squeeky clean car with me. I go to RNS motors by auto again in the pouring rain and find my car ready all cleaned up and ready to go. while i was waiting for the billing to be complete I look around and to my horror I notice this prominent scratch on the front left fender (see picture)

On asking about it the service guy says it "MUST BE A PRE EXISTING ONE" and he also added in black cars scratches become more visible after a wash!
that pissed me off even more as i had washed the the previous day itself and it wasn't there. I asked him when he could notice much smaller scratches on my car before service on a dirty car how could he have missed this one??
He dint have answer and wanted me to take the gate pass and leave. I refused and said unless he sorts the scratch out i am not taking the car.
He went in got some car wax on a cotton waste and wiped it off. that made it less visible but it is still very much present.. My new cars first scar courtesy the dealer!!! Well otherwise the car feels smoother after the service, revs freely and clutch play has been adjusted to my liking [:D]

My opinion about the service: bad
about the car: liking it more and more as days go by

milage so far:
on our maiden trip to ooty 16 kmpl ( mixed highway and hill roads).
city use after service: 14 kmpl.
calculated on a tankful to tankful basis.

Welcome to The Automotive India, Sathya. You really don’t require any specialized items to clean the windows. Just remove the dust, spray Colin and wipe off with newspapers / soft dry cloth. This method works like a charm for me.
