Re: Black puppy at 19 months and nearly 15000kms

2. the original seat covers get very dirty and considering putting art leather seat covers- budget rs 10,000-suggestions welcome.
Nice pic's, for the budget of 10K you can easily go in for a mix of leather and suede leather try Marvin at Lalbagh road along with G-sport,

Eyedocsri, When I see your car's pictures, I feel like making the K10 my next car. One in the same colour and with the same alloys and tyres. It looks perfect[cheers]

And have you got delivery of the Superlow?

Hey really nice review, can you give a small review of Bridgestone Potenza G3 Tyres? How are they? How much road noise is there? I'm planning for 165/65/R13.

Thanks bodhi,
Potenzas look great and they fill up the wheel arch and give the car nice stance.
Performance wise they offer good grip both on wet and dry surfaces.
I felt the cOrnering is much better and confidence inspiring.. I was able to maintain good speed when I drove through hairpin bends in ooty!
Braking is good too but I felt the alto badly needs abs because I locked up the wheels on two occasions.
And yes the tires are NOISY with the windows down there is a constant humm heard from the tires.. Well that may be the only downside.
No flat tires so far at15k kms.
I was told that Bridgestone is taken over by some Chinese company and you don't get G3 anymore. Also do check Yokohama a drive. They are equally good but I think they are of softer compound.
Well the car has recieved 2 small battle scar fighting for road space in Bangalore
Updates on it soon.

My wagonR's(k10) lights(headlights, cabin lamps) dims and brightens when Accelerator is pressed as if there is a voltage fluctuation. The lights also dims when AC is switched on , when Brakes are appliedor when power window switch is working. Is this occuring in every Wagonr k10 or alto k10.
there is no fluctuation while on battery(i.e when Engine is off) .
Please Check this in your car.Check whether the interior cabin lights or headlights dims and brightens while accelerating and please do reply.

Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion, just day before yesterday I changed my all 5 Goodyear tyres with Michelin XM2 Tyres and I'm quite happy with those tyres, they are soft compound tyres and the road noise has now disappeared! Comfort, Handling and stability is too good! [clap] Stock specification is 155/70/R13 and I upgraded to 165/65/R13 [:D]

Hey,

Rear wheels of my car scratching the wheel arc, i am facing this problem from the day i have changed my car shoes (Alto k10 white). brought Tiara alloy wheel of 13"inch no tyre upgrade.

I have fitted medium size rubber spacer but still facing the same issue.. Mechanic was suggesting to go with bigger rubber spacer but then car down't looks good.

Any suggestions.

sunny congrats on the k10.
even have that issue with upsized tyre on my k10 that it scrapes agist the fender esp when 3-4 people sitting in the car.
you can either put a bigger spacer to raise the rear or some people get the wheel arches flares by tinkering so that it doesn't scrape against the tyre.
for this you will have to find the right person who knows the work.
i haven't done this as i was not sure of the quality of the work and since the k10 is used by wife driving single most of the times i dint face the scraping issue too often.

Black Puppy turns 4 years old - Black Maruti Alto K10 at 23500kms

The black puppy has turned four years old[clap]
It is my wifes daily drive to work and back and mostly for city use and very occasional ring road or short highway drive.

The four years of ownership have been totally fuss free.
nothing fell apart, few rattles and squeaks here and there that get addressed during the routine service at the MASS.
the car stays indoor closed parking most of the time at home and at work
and more than 3-4 days of non usage means the car is washed and covered and parked in a closed car park :stupid:

The build quality always felt flimsy but seems to hold on together fairly well inspite of it.
Here comes the pros and cons of longterm ownership as i see it

PROS:
good city runner due to small dimensions and good power steering.
very good AC on par with even cars of higher segment.
MASS: three cheers to them for such a customer centric service affordable spares nothing can beat maruti in this regard.
the black car with those alloys still gets thumps up and enquiries at traffic lights

CONS
the K10 engine is a total dud at low RPM, total lack of low end torque below 2000rpm forces you to downshift at every hump and traffic. it doesn't crawl in first gear in bumper to bumper traffic need to slip clutch and move on which is such a pain. My previous maruti 800 had more useable torque. God knows what hose engineers in R&D think when they tune these engines.
city milage is about 11-12 kmpl due to mostly 2-3rd gear speeds (terrible bangalore traffic) it never got better since 4 years just like the traffic.
Service advisors are good at oil change and filter change only they can't diagnose problems we have identify the cause of a problem and tell them solution and they will do it still better than most other A.S.S.
Black car is a pain to maintain

SIDE NOTES
black car is the most rewarding to wash and wax looks like a million dollars when shiny (see pics)
most of todays petrol cars don't feel as drivable as older cars like my Baleno, don't know where the world is heading
Beware of pesky neighbourhood kids who will use you black car as a blackboard to draw. have had that painful experience.
Fewer visits to the service centre means fewer problems (allow me to explain later)

NOW FEAST YOUR EYES
