I booked a Sumo Gold GX (9 Seater), Model Year 2013, Twilight Grey, over the weekend ,with a Rs 10,000 booking amount. There were no major discounts available on this model. The experience with Concorde Motors, Baner, Pune was pleasant.

Here are the pricing details -
  • Ex Show Room Price - Rs 7.31 Lakhs
  • Road Tax - Rs 80,520
  • Extended Warranty - Rs 8950
  • Corporate discount - Rs 5000

The cheapest insurance quote is from National Insurance Company @ Rs 19,000. SBI General insurance is the next cheaper @ Rs 25,000. The default quote from the dealer was Rs 31,000/-

I have applied for Car Loan from SBI (with overdraft facility) @ 10.45% interest. The processing fee is @ 0.51% of the loan amount - which should be less than Rs 4000.

I will start an ownership thread soon.

I'd like to hear from you on what modifications should be considered.

Yes. I will start the ownership after I get delivery of the new truck next week (?).

Congo , twinstar , go for ' zero depreciaton' insurance if possible. Though it is costlier than routine insurance , it is a VFM deal.
Thanks for pointing out !! The incremental cost is about Rs 1300 & I think this additional cover is worthwhile.

With the beastly attire , it is less likely to come across major damage accidents in pune , instead denting , painting and plastic/fibre damage incidents are more common hence zero dep insurance is VFM.

Can you share the names of resorts you own at Murud/harnai .
Actually they are home stays in partnership with the locals.
Harnai : Samudra Sanket
Karde : Sai Sawali.

Coming with a new resort with all the amenities which will owned individually hopefully by Jan 2014.

Even I went to Pandit Automobiles Tilak Road Swargate Yesterday. For the quotation. The Same Prices were almost Same. Insurance was around 27000 and also 7000 he is charging for logistics.
He was not ready to give a any discount.
Have you been also charged for Logistics if yes what is the cost?

I am not sure if Music system provided by the company have a USB provision. If possible please ask the showroom guys to add a cable for the same.

Music System (with USB) is included in GX model. Concorde Motors is also charging Rs 7000/- for logistics. I did get a corporate discount for Rs 5000/- from Concorde. Insurance from National Insurance (www, niconline.in) seems to be the most economical.

Got the VIN# today. The good news is the beast was manufactured in Aug 2013. Now I am waiting for the loan to get processed. How much time will it it take for the pre-delivery inspection ? 2 hours ?

2 hrs are enough but you need to take a friend along with you who has got atleast average knowledge of the car functioning.

Have a query which I need for something, The latest Boleros are sold with tubeless tyres. I think the dealers have 4-5 brands dont have a specific brand. Is there any best/suitable ones or Can one go with any of these & it shouldn't make a whole lot of difference?

Yes that is correct the sales is pretty good and even I saw a vehicle in Pandit Automobiles even that was Aug 13.

If possible take some one who is driving sumo gold for some time. Please check the Dual AC and all the electricals thoroughly as tata has problems in these areas. Also check the chasis.

@Indica DLS , Bridgestone and michelin are better brands than others.
But while choosing , one needs to know that these brands manufacturer the tires with
1) general /average category(best compromise of all requirements)
2) premium category ( for comfort and handling ).

And manufacturers seldom provide opportunity to select a OE tyre. Also they provide general category tyres as a cost cutting measure since they have to provide freebies and discount s at the time of car sale.
And we Indian buyers often neglect the important aspects such as tyre, wipers , bulbs etc. in lieu of free mudflaps , mats etc.

Dr Tornado, thanks that info helps!

BTW I got to know that amongst the models sold by M&M, Thar & Bolero are the only models which have hand made parts. Any idea what that means really? I thought pretty much everything goes through an assembly line?[confused]
