Thar/Bolero owners: Your feedback please....on the info below please [surprise]

I got to know that amongst the Mahindra vehicles if you happen to purchase the Thar or Bolero it is actually driven from the nearest plant which for example in case of Bangalore is Hubli/Dharwad. So when the vehicle is initially delivered to the owner it will actually have a odometer mileage of say something like around 400kms. How true is this? & is it true for all dealers or some dealers try to take you for a ride? & importantly is it acceptable? They say that the mahindra drivers will drive it carefully.
Don't know about thar , but bolero is indeed driven rather then transported . Acceptable or not is debatable [evil]

we bought a Thar around 3 months back. We had booked it in Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu. They had driven it from a yard in Hosur, TN which is almost 600 kms frm Tirunelveli. Yes, they said drivers will drive it carefully and we got it like that in a good condition. I think the same case with Bolero too.

Why does M&M not transport Boleros in trucks like other OEMS ? Does any one know ?

Thank you Raja & msjawahar for that info. it helped.

OK guys quick update from me, I finally got my java brown Bolero ZLX delivered to me a week back although it was delayed a bit. Reason given was stock coming from Haridwar plant!

This forum has been a great help in researching all my options! so thanks to all here.

About the Thars & Boleros being road driven for delivery, the official reason given to me by M&M was that these vehicles "do not fall under direct dealer billing category for our logistic convenience".

I am not sure whether I was more happy to get my Bolero or really sad to let go of my Indica which served me for about 12 years! I would have loved to keep it as well & it did not fetch a great price but for the lack of enough parking space!

Uploaded a photo taken during the pooja, I will try to upload more later!

I did have a question about the power steering, my Indica power steering was really very good & the wheels came back to "straight position" almost immediately after a 90 degree turn if I just let go of the steering wheel. Here it is not happening, I have to myself make it straight after a turn, any idea what might be wrong? I do plan to take it to the showroom as I think something is missing, hope its nothing serious!

Raja & AppU, Thanks much. yeah it was a bit of an upgrade.

No fog lamps are extra accessories one needs to buy separately I believe, good ones cost around 2.5K I am told. There is just provision in the bumper. on road price about 8.7L after discount of around 30K due to the current slump I guess.

Will surely attempt to write an ownership report if I know what to write in that exactly [;)], I am sure people on the forum will help me out!
