To me these are dated Ideas and short lasting.
cad segment has gone bit more advanced , I call a Indica vista or Tavera or Innova ,never a sumo .
sumo is sluggish with poorest ride quality, nonetheless there are no sumo cabs in our home town.
just imagine 0-100 in 35 seconds, for long drive it would be a pain.
I beg to differ here buddy, the new Sumo has better ride quality except for the bench seats at the last, in fact it tackles the pot-holes cleverly.

When I get back home, I intend to be TAIs TD reporter. [:)] Lets see how it works. I've seen few Sumo gold in my area. Would like to TD one. The body looks bulbous though. Need to drive it to say something reasonable. I have travelled on a Mahindra for 300 kms. Its tiring like hell. Sumo will be much more comfortable than that, for sure.

I have seen a lot of Boleros in the Jharkhand POLICE sevices,so all these 9K Bolero customers are not only private+taxi, plenty of them are Governmental vehicles as well.
And what about the pickups ? The sales are cumulative of all derivatives of bolero .

For your information 3/4th of the Sumo customers are cabbies/taxi fleet operators. You don't find white boards of Sumos running around.

Yes I already know that.My point was regarding the fact that Mahindra seems to have more access in gov. institutions than TATA in terms of selling their products esp. Bolero.

In Maharashtra Sumo's are widely used by Police & governmental vehicles. Who cares about pick-up!
And still number of Sumo's being sold are 1/3rd of bolero.

Looks like old version of Sumo/victa with stepney on the boot. All Boleros serving the POLICE of my state are brand new.
No Doubt Bolero is a rugged vehicle as a personalvehicle its the worst middle row. Front row is just fine, forget about the last side facing seats. Whereas in Sumo Gold front seats are wide and supportive middle row is spacious third row is as usual below average.

But Bolero is a bit more reliable and has less history of issues. Whereas SUMO is very capable product but design wise is as usual decade old.

Go to noth eastern states like Nagaland where Govt dept used to have Invader and normal Boleros for their staff.

I would love to go with Bolero and once finalised the vehicle but i dropped the idea just becase of 2 things

Lack of passenger comfort and their safety equipments
Lack of 4x4 facility in their 100bhp engine at that time

Wish M&M laucnhed their 5 seater 4x4 version and with 112 bhp crde engine bolero. I would love to own one from day one... (but in a ressonable price point)...

It seems most of the uv/muv/suv knowledge bearers are present on this thread.
My father wants to exchange our wagonr and go for bolero or sumo gold or sparingly used safari.
I also thought of mahindra quanto, premier crdi (fiat)rio.
Mods, is it appropriate to discuss my dilemma about buying decision on this thread ? Or suggest me appropriate thread.

Hi, you could start a separate thread in The Automotive Shopper,
so that you could get overwhelming responses than here.

Still Sumo's figures can't match Bolero despite being a much more rounded and comfortable UV:

Sumo's sales no.s in month of October 2012= Around 3300 units,

Bolero's sales figures in month of October 2012= Around 11000 units.
