all the best for the updates vikram do let us know if you need help in anything please check this thread too http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...-basic-information-car-entertainment-ice.html

got one video of infinity round speaker - this guy has all infinity....
but his sub box or amp is not doing any justice with his kappa sub ... i think
Troller - Sistema de Som - YouTube

and this was my setup in my OHC
Dont judge it by video as i used my mobile camera to capture video. nothing is clear in addition there is lot of excrusion from sub that none of the camera can handle.

with old sony sub -
Honda city - Sony WX GT77UI n GTR1202 n XM GTR7040 , JBL GTO1004 , Pioneer TS A6993R n TS A1302C - YouTube

@Vikram you can see the black colured plank where i fitted my rear speakers in video.

New infinity sub -
Audio is delayed because of camera and after some day i realized that my subbox have opened up which i fixed later. so some wierd sound was coming that time.
My New Infinity 1260 sub - bass i love you [Song] - YouTube

i will upload verna's video with new setup when i am done.

Thanks :)

Hello everyone,

Same query... Bought the new verna and planning to upgrade the ICE...[:D]

Planning to buy a new comp, 4CH amp and sub but not sure which one to go for??? Totally clueless about the model no. and their price but have read up few blog and got a impression that for amp - jbl, auditor and focal would be nice... for sub i should stick to rockford... and comp i guess jbl...

Not planning to change the head unit and the speakers but would like a little thump as the system is pretty flat....mostly will be the only one in the car so am not planning to mess with the rear speakers either...My budget would be somewhere around 20k to 25k... Can stretch it a little if really worth it!!!

Please suggest a good combination of component, amp and sub that i can go for in this budget!!!

hi , paritosh ,
kem chho [;)] well i am from guj too.

I have the same car. it's still in gujarat due to some RTO delay.
but i can give some of my opinion to you.

1.Component-

go for infinity or polk audio.
Infinity - Infinity - 6030cs
or
polk - db6501 or db5251 Polk Audio - db Series - Technical Specifications

this both will be way better then jbl imo.

2.Amplifier -

imo if you cannot stretch your budget thn JBL gto 504E - JBL - Product Support - GTO-504E
this amp will not give the best out of your subwoofer but it will run your comp smoothly.

or if you can spend more upto 14k for amp , but will give the best output from your speakers and full punch from your subwoofer.

1..JBL GTO1004E [I own this and it's been working perfectly]
JBL - Product Support - GTO1004E

OR
2..kicker ex 450.4 or dx 500.4
one of my friend just got the kicker ex450.4 --> http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...rna-fluidic-sx-o-experience-8.html#post104294
it's good amp too

For auditor , we had bad experience. one of my friend bought auditor amp and got it replaced 4 times , still some issues and finally bought powerbass amp.
Focal products are way too costly , it will be totally out of your budget. if you can spend 1 lakh , then i will suggest you focal.

3.Subwoofer.

rockford subwoofer are good. you can buy any of them according to how loud bass you want. but keep in mind , after seperating them from different brands , in any product more RMS means better quality.
Even infinity subwoofer are good.

I have infinity ref 1260w connected with jblGTO1004E - shakes car properly.
Infinity - ref 1260w

Or Infinity kappa would be the best , but if you buy this you must buy better amp.- Infinity - kappa 100.9w

4.Subbox.

dont buy whatever your dealer gives you. first read manual of sub. every sub need different cubic ft box. In case of infinity ref 1260w , 2.25 cubic ft is written in manual. it means length X height X width = 2.25 ... let's take 1.7 X 1.4 X 1 would be the best.
imo buy ported sub box and not sealed one.

Coming to price[maximum should be] -
Component-
1.infinity 6030cs - 6k
2.polk - ??

Amplifier-
1.JBL GTO504E ~ 10k [not sure]
2.JBL GTO1004E = 13k [sure i have got one [;)] ]
3.Kicker ex 450.4 = 12k [nickandre just bought it]
4.Kicker dx 500.4 = ??

Sub
1.Rockford = ??
2.Infinity ref 1260w= 5.5k [i bought it for tht price in bangalore,it may vary little bit but not much]
3.Infinity kappa ~ 7k

Subbox ~1.5k or less
Wiring kit X 2 = 1.5k X 2 = 3k
Hi-low converter X 2 = got to check their price yet unknown [there is no preout [frustration] in stock unit so we will need this]

According to your budget , the best would be - infinity 6030cs + Kicker 450.4 + infinity ref 1260w or similar rockford.
including everything it should cost you around 27 to 28k. This is best in this budget i guess.

you can see some of the ICE vids of my current honda city here - http://www.youtube.com/user/neelppatel007?feature=mhsn#g/u

Thank you for reading [:)]

if your in for serious sound quality then give hertz components a try
i have installed a kicker ex450.4 amp 115rms X4 you can even bridge a subwoofer 225watts. does not get hot and provides good output for expensive speakers or a sub.
paid 12k with b/w the amp came with a certificate that its capable of 540watts max.

component speakers i choose the hertz hi-energy hsk165 paid 11k
wiring 1850
a hi low converter pricing varies

i havent added a sub as i want my audio to be crisp clear and enjoyable without making me want to dance in my seat

check my thread for some videos

Hey guys,

Nick brilliant post!!! Thanks for the detailed and informative reply buddy...

Sorry for not replying for some time, was caught up with few family functions so could not take out time to reply...

Coming back to my car, will have to amend the plans slightly... My dad recently bought me the JBL CS 1215 as a gift... though not the ones I was planning to buy but am quite happy with them as they will sufficiently fulfill my needs...

Now coming to the component speaker - asked few shops here in ahmedabad, it wont be possible for me to get polk speakers here, infinity reference speaker 6030/6530 are available for around 4500/- to 5000/-... However, was surprised to hear the Blaunpunkt Velocity VC 652 component sets - they were brilliant... not only the clarity but also the loudness was quite nice... he quoted me Rs. 5500 for them.. he also offered me focal 165A1 for Rs. 7000 but couldn't audition them, so will have to completely rely on your reviews for them...

As for the amp - still pretty much lost - kicker amps are sadly not available over here... JBL GT5 - 644 4ch amps are available for 5200/- but few shop keepers have been telling me to go for focal amps by raising my budget to around 7 to 10...

What say guys!!!

Focal is best. then infinity.
no idea about blaupunkt.but people says it's good brand.

how did you connect your sub?
JBL GT 5 is not going to help you run your sub to it's full potential. though it can run your front and rear speakers properly.
if you provide this sub >250 rms through amp along with well-built subbox , it will definitly perform good.

Stock HU is handling sub efficiently. I have fitted my JBL1004E amp and infinity 1260w sub with stock HU in verna. amp provides 300 rms to sub that is the max my sub can handle.
you can see video if you wish - Hyundai Accent 2012 ( verna fluidic ) ( solaris ) JBLGTO1004 + Infinty 1260 - YouTube

@nick
my subbox has opened up again. i am going to buy new bigger at least 2 cub.ft ported subbox now. i was thinkin why my sub is not working properly again. air is leaking from sides.

Focal products are one of the best available around, focal access comps for the front-8k.
Focal coaxials for the rear-6k.
Focal solid 4- 4 channel amplifier-14k
Focal access 12" sub-7k
All of the above should give some superb SQ.

Opps!!! Mistakenly mentioned nicks name instead of neil. but in any case, thanks to all you guys for helping me out with this.

Coming back to the ICE - Neil, I havent bought the amp yet. still wondering which one to buy. Will take your advise and go for the Focal amp then and will try and ask him for a better price.

Nick, clarity is more important for me than loudness.. but i like the beats to me clear and neat (i hope i was able to put it across).

So tentatively the ICE setup would be something like this.

HU and rear speaker - Company fitted
Comp - Focal, if i can get a better price otherwise going for the Blaunpunkt Velocity
Sub- JBL 1215
Amp - Focals

that's fine. we all have some knowledge here. even i learned from others and sharing.
for focal component and your sub -
Use two channels for two speaker and bridge 3rd and 4th ch for one subwoofer. but keep in mind that buy an amp which gives at least 250 rms while bridged means 1 ch must be of 125 rms.

amps matched are -
Focal solid 4 ch (100 rms * 4) - little lower output for your sub.
JBL GTO1004E 4 ch (150 rms * 4)
Rockford P500-4 (125 rms * 4) / T600-4 (150 rms* 4)

Focal - good product but costly
JBL- good and even cheap
Rockford - good and costly but lesser then focal i guess.

Best is , to go for JBL , this is the same amp in the video that i use in my car. It has no issues and heating problem.

what about subbox or it is tube?

As i also want to upgrade the ICE without replacing the stock HU.
My choices are as follows:
Front JBL component speakers
Rear JBL Co-axial speakers preferly 6" X 9"
Blaupunkt Bass Tube
4 channel Kenwood Amplifier for speakers
2 channel Amplifier for Bass Tube.
Plaese tell is this set up is OK. Any suggestion is heartly welcome. I also want to know the professional installer in Mumbai.
Thanks

While searching ICE upgrade on internet, i came to know that one the owner has installed 2 amps on stock HU. Thats mean stock HU has 2 pre-outs. The model is SX(O). In that case it seems that SX(O) has only 2 pre outs not SX. Guys is that so. please clarify if possible.
