I changed the rear speakers in my car today hoping that the loudness will imcrease. After installing the component speakers loudness is the same as before [confuse] only the clarity is better.

These were suggested by my friend who's relatives manufacture these.

I have listened to the same speakers with amp on his i20 and the aound is great.

He also have the same installed in his sx4(front doors) with stock maruti headunit without any amplifier and the sound was similar to stock hyundai speakers.

My friend says hyundai has limited the output level for the rear speakers.

Is there any such thing like this ?
Now i'm confused. I can't return the speakers just like that to him.

Thanks for your reply neil. I just couldn't understand why the same speakers would sound good in stock sx4 without amplifier. I was thinking to visit the fitting guy and ask him to check the sound with jbl or any speakers just to compare.

Hi Guys,

I will getting my 1.6 CRDI Fuidic verna delivered tomorrow. I want your suggestions audio setup. I am a total noob in this.

Budget range - 20k only
Looking for - Amp + sub woofer (Want strong bass)

I do not want to change the HU. Also do I need to change the door speakers & tweeters?

I already have Boston 6X9 ovals which I had in my previous car which I like it very much. How can I get this of use in Verna? Can I place the ovals in parcel tray.

Your help is highly appreciated.

Thanks

After gowing through the forums and little bit of googling, I have come up with following combination.

Option 1
1.) Front Infinity Referece 6500 components
2.) JBL GTX646 Amp
3.) JBL CS1215B sub.

Option 2
1.) Front Boston SE60 components
2.) Boston GTA 804 Amp
3.) Boston GTXi1300 sub

Specifications
Boston AMP
Specifications
Type : 4/3/2-channel
RMS : 80W x 4
THD+N : <1%
Crossover : LPF/FULL/HPF
Rated load : 4-ohm (SE) / 8-ohm (BTL)

Boston Sub specs
Specifications
Size : 12"
Type : Enclosure
RMS Power : 275W
Peak Music Power : 1300W
Impedance : 4 ohm

I have used boston earlier and I really liked the sound quality, hence having boston as a option.

If you do not have budget problem i would suggest you to go for polk > focal > morel > helix > hertz > rockford speakers.
Polk and focal are best in above.
Amplifier - go for rockford or Jbl gto series or you can go for kicker , hertz.
You will need hi low converters to connect HU with amp.
I am disappointing you but how hard you try you wont get that strong bass with stock HU. Even I struggled a lot and at last changed HU for proper bass.
For strong bass go for rockford fosgate punch series subwoofers or you can go for polk also. Get a custom made vented box for subwoofer which is tuned at 30-40 hz.
Though your last resort for getting a strong bass will be changing HU.

Thank you for your suggestions, but mu budget is strictly 20k. May be I will plan upgrading in stages, with a good components & amp to start with, and connect my ovals for the time being in rear tray. Does this sound good?

Also, How to place the ovals in the rear parcel tray, I asked few accessories shop here. Every one is saying that the metal below the parcel tray needs to be cut, I hope its possible to do it with a bit of customization using angled spacers, But no one is ready to spend that much time on it.

My doubt is, Is it fine to get the metal cut? What would be its disadvantages? provided that the old verna had this provision to keep the oval speakers and the hatchbacks don't have the metal layer at all.

Please throw some light on this..

Oval speakers would be difficult to put even if you are planning to put a wooden plank at rear. But there will be more space below at front portion of the wooden plank. I got fitted 5.25 inches round speakers fitted in the same place. With some difficulties you might be able to fit oval speakers depending on the size and depth of the speakers but cant tell you sure.
But small speakers will fit which has lesser depth.

I hope you are not planning to put speakers over that plastic parcel tray behind , you need proper wooden plank for the speakers to be fitted there which is again a headache as ready made plank for verna is not easily available. You need to find a guy who will make one for you

Thank you for the suggestions. Let me check on the rear door idea as well.

And can you throw some light on the Hi lo convertor. I went through the entire thread and many had negative reviews on it. as it gives some hissing whining sound. Could you tell me some good brands which you have used earlier?

Thanks

I dont remember brands but it never give hissing sound.
Now,

After reading through all your posts in the forum, I am getting hold of few things.

If I go by a single 4 channel amp + 1 pair of components + 1 sub. Then below is what I should be looking for as a top down approach

For components, Consider Polk Audio - DB6501 - 6.5 Inch 2 Way Component System

power handling of 100 RMS and Impedance of 4 ohms.

For Sub, Consider JBL CS1215B

Power handling of 275 RMS and Impedance of 4 ohms.

So for the above combo.

I need a amp which can give atleast 100 RMS * 4 channels at 4 ohms..

so 2 channels bridged to get 200 RMS to power the sub (Still not close to required 275 RMS for the sub - Will this be fine?)

and other 2 channels to provide 100 rms to each of the components..

Correct me If my understanding is wrong.

I hope JBL GTO1004 will provide whats needed.

Or please suggest me any equivalent amp..

Thanks

If you have 20k budget limit then above will do by sacrificing bass.
This woofer is good enough for hatchback and small cars.
I would suggest you to buy one 4 channel amp , one component and one round speakers for rear doors first.
On next upgrade you buy monoamp/2 channel amp and subwoofer.
