I don't think WP8 MMX will beat Nokia in anyway. I won't ever buy a WP8 that is not Nokia(might change in future ) if the price is almost equal.
considering the not so path breaking hardware nokia packs leaving aside the camera , i think mmx can very well turn the table for windows 8 mobile.

consider the scenario, a nokia 620 like phone specification for around 5k , or nokia 920/935 like phone for around 15k.

all hell will break loose. [evil]

Remember one thing , nokia dosent need to pay license fees to Microsoft ( as per the deal between them ) .

Mmx needs to do that , unlike android which is free . Hardware specifications are set by Microsoft , its not like android that you can pack any processor and pump put phones in the market .

Nokia phone sells because nokia bundles it with their own software like navigation , maps , music , camera and others .
The build quality is super too .

http://wmpoweruser.com/skype-for-windows-phone-8-updated-with-improvements/
Microsoft today released an update for Skype app for Windows Phone 8 devices with performance improvements and few other changes. According to Skype team, they are focusing on putting conversations first, improving quality and performance, and bringing new features to Skype for Windows Phone 8. In this release we’ve significantly improved the app start and resume performance – so you can quickly continue a conversation by moving smoothly between apps on your Windows Phone 8 device and Skype.

Change log:

Start and Resume Performance – Improving the start and resume experience has been the main focus of this release. It’s now much faster to return to the app when it’s in the back stack. If you open the app and then hit the start button or turn off the screen, pressing the back or power button now gets you back into the Skype app much more quickly. You’ll also see some general improvements to the start experience.
Live Tile Count - Based on user feedback, we’ve changed the Live Tile notifications to show only the number of unread conversations, rather than the total number of unread messages.

M$ can only compete with android if it allows multiple companies to release phones with its W8 os. earlier i posted how LG was planning a W8 phone.

what made samsung become a world leader was its galaxy range and it took the public i think 2 or 3rd galaxy models and then the pandara opened. shrewd use of public opinion + advertising blitz + strong innovative features they rose to a great brand.

i remember when Rs 500 mobile was launched by ambani sr, we had the option to chose between samsung flip or LG's bar, no one wanted samsung coz of the low brand image.
see how times have changed since then.

also samsung is churning out not only androids but also W8 phones with its Ativ range.

some good specs with Dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait + 2100 mAh battery Samsung Ativ Odyssey I930 - Full phone specifications

See, the launch of Lumia 620 changed the way of WP8 market from how it was before. Then came 520 and 720. AFAIK, these are the only phones of WP8 selling at quite good amount(IDK about 820).

I don't think Nokia looks at MMX,Celkon other similar players in the market as they are with a different style all together with WP8 phones.

Yes After launch of 620, Nokia is steady in gaining market once again, but at a slow pace, but steady growth.

Yes Samsung will be more worried with MMX and others and that is how we are able to see lot of cheap models coming out from Samsung these days.

Overall it looks to me like Android is bored for so many and WP8 is gaining that market

They won't be able to do that.
i know , they will have to launch them at attractive prices to get hold of the market.

the mmx can compete only in the price of sub 10k or at the most sub 15k phones.

to attract the prospective customer, they will have to price their phones accordingly, since everybody knows that after sales of mmx is not their selling point.

It is not because Android is bored for many. It is because of the attractive price tag, and the performance they offer for common tasks at the price point is good. Android phones under 15K provides not so good performance I think.

But I guess, they have to use the licensed hardware, which won't cheap as those MTK chips. So will they be able to? Well, I don't know about that. Let's see what they'll do.[;)]

Windows Phone 8 is soo closed! We can't even send already recorded videos through Whatsapp or any other messaging app. Cannot upload anything to anywhere in the cloud, except for the ones which have an app in the store. Videos downloaded through Whatsapp can't be seen without Whatsapp.
I hope MS will fix atleast this in the Amber update.

@Edios,

My comments about people got bored of Android is not vague, after interacting few owners of S3, S4 and Xperia, I made these comments and believe me all these guys have bought 820,920 recently keeping their old handsets with them.

MS, I think limited certain things on WP8 for safety and lag free operation concerns in the initial stage of its launch and hopefully next upgrades of the same will have some functions you are talking about. But I can say one thing as a WP8 user since march, it is just perfect for what I need and point to point, no funny stuff is loaded and it doesn't waste my time with time pass features and stuff

For people like you, there is no other perfect choice other than Windows Phone. But a user who is used to Android's freedom won't be able to withstand these limitations.

depends on the usage.

if one is not going beyond just basic internet surfing, whatsapp, and facebook he will find an android to be boring, because he does not know what the phone can do .

for them a windows phone is as good as an android.

Partly agree with Superbad.

These days, people (above 30s) say - "I just need a phone to call/chat/video call/mail/message. I do not worry much on browsing sites with ads, making it a bit more faster or removing some programs already installed".

What i liked in android is these three four things.
I could root the phone and uninstall some crap apps initially installed which hogs memory.
I could install some ad blocking software (which requires root) and block ads on apps and on sites (like adblock for firefox/chrome).
I could install some custom rom and made the phone faster & install apps.

So, if a phone offer with a lag-free/faster phone with adblocking /uninstall capabilities , why do i need an android phone ! I have rooted not to play games. Google talk video was not supporting on 2.3. Ofcourse, few more good apps (like mapmyindia/sygic) would be always a plus.

The thing is - you may do on experimenting in initial days/months. But, once you see that nothing much happening about your phone, you end up trying out new things. (unless you got lots of time and not much other work).

I still happily jailbreak/root/install custom rom on my friends phones. (as they do not want to spend much time). I have stopped doing things as there is no new custom roms/good thing happening to my phone. No new support/no one interested to work on it (xda).

Exactly.
@Appus, you are right. But Windows Phone is too closed. I have wrote an example in the Lumia thread.

All Windows phones can now have Nokia's mapping and transit apps

Hoping to snag a few more paying customers -- and offer an alternative to Google Maps --

Nokia is bringing Here, its suite of mapping, turn-by-turn direction, and transit apps to all Windows Phone 8 smartphones. The apps will arrive in the Windows Phone Store by the end of the week.

Nokia is adding a few new features to Here Drive and Here Transit to coincide with their launch in the Windows app store. The updated Drive app will show traffic conditions in your surrounding area and along routes you choose.
Here Drive is also getting a new feature called "My Commute," which remembers the streets you drive on frequently to get to work or return home, and gives you estimated travel times and alternate routes based on traffic. Nokia is updating Here Transit with a new design that the company says will make the app easier to use.

Pricing details for the apps are as follows:

Here Maps, which offers online and offline maps and directions, will be free for all regions.

Here Drive gives you turn-by-turn directions, and is free in your home country.
To get global navigation you must upgrade to Drive +, which costs 15.49 Euro ($19) for users in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, and Spain, and 34.99 Euro ($44) for Windows Phone 8 owners in all other countries.

Here Transit show directions, travel times, and arrivals for public transportation and will be available for free in the app store except in Australia, China, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Russia and the United Arab Emirates, where it costs 1.99 Euro, or a little more than $2.50.

Below is a handy chart from Nokia that breaks down the cost for the Here apps by device.

Microsoft reveals “common app platform with Windows” coming to Windows Phone after all | WMPoweruser

At the Worldwide Partner Conference 2013 Microsoft Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner showed the above slide claiming their Financial Year 2014, which ends June 2014, will be a year filled with innovation.

For Windows Phone fans however there is one stand-out item, and it is right at the end of the list.

The last green tile claims Windows Phone would have a “Common App Platform with Windows”.

Now this is something which we have been expecting for a while now, based on other Microsoft leaks, but we feel this is now more or less confirmed, and that, if everything goes smoothly, in the near future we will be able to use our Windows Phone apps on Windows 8 and vice versa.

And

http://wmpoweruser.com/microsoft-re...e-pack-for-wp8-devices-in-first-half-of-2014/

Along with the announcement that they are increasing the support lifecycle time for Windows Phone 8 devices from 18 months to 36 months, Microsoft also announced that they are releasing a enterprise feature pack update for Windows Phone 8 devices in the first half of 2014. This update will enable IT departments with more control over Windows Phone devices of their employees.

The enterprise feature pack will include:

S/MIME to sign and encrypt email
Access to corporate resources behind the firewall with app aware, auto-triggered VPN
Enterprise Wi-Fi support with EAP-TLS
Enhanced MDM policies to lock down functionality on the phone for more enterprise control, in addition to richer application management such as allowing or denying installation of certain apps
Certificate management to enroll, update, and revoke certificates for user authentication
