cant stop talking about it - its gorgeous. light, simple design that oozes a premium feeling. Love how the screen blends into the borders when turned off ( some may call it a black slati but i give a damn

). If there was a manufacturer who knew how to use plastic properly, it would be Sony. Flaps are annoying sometimes( till the time i get used to whats hidden where) , but then its a tradeoff one would expect for waterproofing. Compared to the 10.1" samsung note, ipad, ipads, nexus 10 etc etc, the XTZ's design oozes out.
Colours are accurate, viewing angles are superb and the screen isn't particularly reflective. Bravia engine 2 makes watching videos a pleasure, and comparing screens with the samsung tabs etc etc , the XTZ arguably has the best screen amongst them all in terms of colour accuracy and viewing angles.
There were issues which i read in other forums mentioning that screen was over sensitive. Sony was proactive and had released an update on june 9th which sorted this issue. But i must add, the screen isn't completely "frictionless" like the iPad. I went into detail and the issue lies in the shatter proof film + screen cover which covers the screen. The shatter proof skin costs a bomb as per Sony and they have installed it for a reason. If one removes that and installs a glossy screen cover, the tab becomes super smooth. But i am not gonna do that. also am not a fan of glossy screen covers and i prefer the mat ones but yes the brightness suffers with them.
The stock launcher leaves a lot to be desired. Also the layout is changed as compared to my droid razr and the samsungs. anyways this can be sorted out with the abundance of launchers in play store. Apps do load quickly and animations are zippy with no hint of stutter. Games like subway surfers, real racing, asphalt 7 run very smoothly. WiFi is good. catches signals from far away places as well :p:
The XTZ has two down facing speakers on the bottom of the tablet on the left and right side, and two more speakers facing outwards on the bottom left and right of the tablet. Together, they pump out a lot of sound. Speakers are quite loud and clear, which is a welcome break from the tradition of crap speakers on tablets. This design pretty much ensures that it's almost impossible to entirely cover all speakers at once when holding the tablet, and it makes watching movies quite immersive with the powerful audio.
The tablet has an Exmor R IMX111 sensors for the camera which i will test later.
I'll comment on the battery life after a few days since today is Day 0 :p:
It works as a remote for my tv's. am yet to check my dvd but this is a pleasant feature. gonna scare many of my friends by switching off their tv;s :p: Its a dedicated app which you can place anywhere and/or use while doing anything, multitasking at its best :)
its an excellent piece of hardware, well worth the buy at 27k, It is retailing @ 42k plus for the cellular version but its a pity that you cant make calls with it and the wifi model has not been launched in india for which i think Sony missed a trick. But then like apple, they are catering to a different segment all together and if you have sources in US etc, get it from there.
Probably the best Android tablet you can get in the market now. I will give the tablet a 4.5/5, and overall a great job by Sony.
pics coming tommorrow.
