Yes you mentioned kitkat the other day and i had a compulsive obsessive disorder to try it out - i took the latest nightly from the cm guys and got it done. So far so good, though its not a stable release of cm.

If you go cyanogen mod you wont regret for sure, the screen is now silky smooth, more like the apple feel - the phone completely feels something else. But please be aware nightlies will have small bugs but nothing that seriously causes issues - if this worries you go for the last stable version.

I would recomend that you go for this only when you are out of warranty else your warranty won't hold good

you can revert to unroot and stock rom without any fuss.
so the issue of warranty is overhyped.
I agree, basically two things go wrong with your phone hardware or software. If its hardware no issues, basically new software image will be put back and service people will even not know it was modded. If its software and assuming that you have rooted the phone successfully you can always go back to stock and unrooted. Most of the service station boys have no clue on 'rooting' and how to identify the rooted phones.
Only issue could be something went wrong while rooting itself.

I root atleast after two days after purchase just to make sure hardware is working. BTW I exchanged my S2 with my boss's not used HTC One Plus [clap] Now rooted and on 4.4.2

HTC One X and X+ won't receive anymore updates. :(
Yes that's the bad news(not for me as I am already on CM11) considering the phone is just about a year old. [frustration]
I think currently the Sony Experia is the only company very aggressive with the updates.

Yeah, but forgot Micromax? The Canvas series is getting 4.4.2 soon! It is just awesome considering an Indian manufacturer.
