CyanogenMod Installer is now in Google Play Store, supports 40 devices
Nitin I cant thank you enough, i had been wanting to go cyanogen route for months now but finally did on the S3 today, the experience was mind blowing, these guys are the best thing since sliced bread. I am yet to restore my data hope it works[lol], but i am simply blown off by this new experience! I have flashed many roms in many os, but this one is piece of cake, if someone still doesnt manage this i must say he doesnt deserve a smart phone!

S3 is an awesome phone specs wise and in india it is still selling more than S4. More popular the model, the more support it gets from the developers.

cyanogen guys are the best in business and it wont be long when they market their own phone. Beauty is they optimize everything to such a level that you get the optimum from the device wrt battery, user interface and apps.

No wonder they have such a huge fan following.

cannot agree more! Just one issue i want to share, i backed up using Kies, as the rooting software(tried multiple here) failed for some reason in my phone, so couldnt use titanium backup - but now that I am on CM i cant connect using Kies, Kies doesnt recognise the phone now off course, so unfortunately backup cannot be restored unless i flash back.

You ve had SMS backup pro and titanium backup as the options , but you chose the KIES as the backup software [lol].

you need to revert back to stock . do the root, use the SMS backup pro or the free version to backup your call logs, sms, and contacts , apps etc / backup the content using titanium backup and when on cyanogenmod, do the restore thingy using the alternate softwares.

Always have a habit of storing your data(media, files etc) on the external SD card, that way you can avoid the backup business altogether. When ever I change my ROM I do backup of my call logs, mobile data usage stats, SMS using titanium.

But one thing on titanium, dont depend on those too much as anything can go wrong and restore may not work all the time. But generally Titanium backup is good. I avoid restoring app with data when ever possible to keep the system as clean as possible. Another important backup items is 'Wifi access points', but if you have google app restore checked in your settings 'WiFi access list comes backup'

I knew its waiting to happen, why would google allow someone else create more cleaner non bloatware based environment? [frustration]
But anyway as long as xda support is there we need not worry. BTW I am now on KitKat from Omni ROM(with ART) on my S2 and its butter smooth and working as my daily driver [clap], and the 'Ok Google' works !
