Hey Nitin, that looks to be very good phone with a proper size in that price. After using my 620 I always felt that the screen should be between 4.5 to 4.7" would be really idle.

yes , the phone is amazingly fast with a snapdragon processor. Beauty with this phone is that even 20k plus phones from top end manufacturers like samsung/HTC/sony etc fall low wrt specs and display and battery etc in comparison with this bomb of a phone.

also this phone will sure shot get kitkat (android 4.4) which is a big plus , this cant be said about the other brands in the same/low price segment like xolo/mmx/lava/samsung/htc etc.

Nokia’s Android Phone to be unveiled this month

normandy.jpg

Nokia’s Android Phone is in the news for a long time now. Its been almost 5 months that we constantly get to hear something about this mysterious device, but what if I tell you now that Nokia is going to show off its first Android running smartphone soon, would you belive it? Yeah that’s true, Nokia is certainly going to launch this smartphone as a successor model to the Asha series of phones and is going to have hardware similar to the Lumia 520 smartphone.

The rumor mill is churning out reports that Nokia is likely to unveil the Normandy smartphone on 24th this month. Although it remains a mystery whether Nokia will name this smartphone as ‘Normandy’ or ‘Nokia X’. Nokia is currently cherishing success with its Lumia smartphones like the Lumia 1020, Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1320 smartphones, all run on the Windows Phone 8 OS, and amidst of it if Nokia launches an Android smartphone we can expect a mixed reaction from the buyers and critics.

Just to remind our readers, the Nokia Normandy or the Nokia X smartphone is likely to feature a 4-inch WVGA display along with a Dual-Core processor. It will have a 4GB ROM, 512MB RAM and a 1,500mAH battery. There will be Dual SIM connectivity abreast of Nokia Store and support for third party apps.

Lets wait for the date mentioned above and see how people react to an Android based Nokia smartphone.

^^If this is true, phone looks good but again looks like a Lumia. Negatives are 4" screen, 512MB RAM, 1500mAH battery. I personally feel for any smart phone today with the kind of features and apps, a 2000mAH is reasonable.

Moto G review | NDTV Gadgets

One of the biggest highlights of the Moto G is its 4.5-inch 720x1280-pixel IPS LCD, which works out to a density of 329 pixels per inch. Notably, the Moto G's screen is a bit sharper than Apple's iPhone 5s, which offers 326ppi.

Motorola has also used Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the Moto G to protect it from scratches. It's worth pointing out that Gorilla Glass is usually found on premium devices priced at Rs. 30,000 and above.

We recorded a score of 11,874 in AnTuTu, which was right behind the Nexus 4 and Samsung Galaxy S III. Quadrant gave us a score of 8,569 which is ahead of HTC's flagship smartphone from two years ago, the One X. On the graphics front, the Moto G remarkably reached 11 frames per second in the GFXbench test, and 5629 in the 3DMark Ice Storm Extreme run-through.

Verdict
What makes the Moto G special is the fact that it is one of a very small number of devices running the latest version of Android, and one of the only ones priced this low to be doing so.

The Moto G scores heavily in terms of style and substance, and our only major quibbles are the non-expandable storage and below-par camera performance. The 4.5-inch HD screen is wide, and yet the phone is small enough to hold in one hand and type easily with a thumb. Most of all, praise be, the Moto G is also extremely affordable.

This phone is definitely aimed at price-conscious Indian smartphone buyers, and its array of colourful back shells will attract the style-conscious as well.

The Moto G is available in two variants: 8GB for Rs. 12,499 and 16GB for Rs. 13,999. At this price point, no other phones offer an experience that is as good, so in that sense the Moto G is a game changer. If you have your eyes set on the Moto G, we recommend you spend the extra bucks and get the 16GB version, given the limited user accessible storage available in the 8GB version. Our only other complaint with the Moto G is the average camera, but the only phone that offers a better camera in the same price bracket is the Nokia Lumia 720, so the newest Motorola smartphone is a winner overall.

My phone officially gets kitkat [clap]
View attachment 126967
So late !! I got the notification on 15nth/16nth I think.

By the way I got the phone delivered on 13nth .Pathetic service from flipkart . They seem to do me a favour by delivering me the phone.

initial experience : Well as everyone says . Just fabulous and 14k well spent.
Ony niggle is I have managed to make the phone unresponsive for a few seconds. The phone has no game installed but Some 10-15 aftermarket apps/widgets. 8.5 gb storage is still available. So I dont think it is not possible to hang the phone as every review says .
What do you have to say about this ?

Other than that couldnt find a good case for the phone. Good ones were easily costing quite high. Accessories still have to flood the market. Wanted a very tough case.
So ordered these

i personally use HTC ONE dual sim and Kitkat update was for my One :p . Moto G was for my mom :)

since i purchased on the 1st day, I got the offer to buy the covers at 70% discount and I purchased white cover with the discount.

better you try cases at aliexpress.com which are much cheaper though they take time to arrive. I would not recommend the kick case since it makes the phone bulky. Since the phone is black, better buy a case in white or so. Anyways if you use the phone without a case , you can buy official back covers in different colors. The white and red back cases stand out from the rest.

Sometime back i went the cyanogen mod route for my s3 - the best part is they update the software daily, obviously though its beta and not stable releases, but they clearly mention it - the best part i realised is once you are on cyanogen, updating the software to a more later release/nightly is as easy as updating an app from the playstore and a reboot, it takes just as much time. Sheer brilliance i would say and in this case even a backup wasnt necessary - everything stayed as is, though that might not be a case with major updates. I am currently on 4.4.2 Feb 17 nightly build!
I highly highly recommend cyanogen! Epic brilliance!

Guys what app should I use to keep my new moto G lag-free.All the reviews of this phone state that it is very difficult to make this phone lag due to the great HW/SW combo for a normal user.
I have a week old phone with 9GB out of 12 GB free. No games but a lot of apps have been installed and uninstalled for trying purposes in these 6 days. Sometimes when I come back to home all the text on screen etc are blurred/unreadable. Most of the times it gets OK after 3-4 seconds but once It stayed blurred and I had to restart the phone.
Why does this happen ? Wasnt expecting it

must be residual files, cache which is causing your device to slow down.

i can vouch for this app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cleanmaster.mguard

i also use one tap cleaner https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.acc.pro which has now become redundant coz of the above app. But yes this acts as my default app cleaner.

for security purpose, you can use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cleanmaster.security

and to switch of the screen without using the hardware button, I use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflockdonate

Make sure you exit all apps by using the back key and not the home key. If you exit by pressing home key, ram usage will increase and there will be often home crashing/ reloading.
It might be the home screen crashing or you can say loading because of the limited Ram.

In my phone sometimes the icons are reloaded after getting on the home sceen (xperia sp)

And you should use one tap cache cleaner as nitin suggested, I use it too.
