Don't you think up-sizing so much would put pressure on the steering. If im not wrong the mechanicals are definitely going to undergo a lot of wear and tear. The Alloys look awesome though no question in the looks department at all.
I had chit chat with the owner of this vehicle, He told me that it's for city-use only and he got extra set of tyres for highway trips. Either way , The car gives jaw dropping impressions when seen in-person and vossen wheels are perfect for it!

Regarding the wheel size, I think he chose it because it fills fender gap nicely ( and he don't give a crap about suspensions) .

I personally feel that they look too wannabe on an SUV. What is the need of this kind of no-comfort setup in a so-called offroad vehicle (or softroader)? For bling, he could have got a Ciaz/City/Verna and plonked this combo on it - would have reeked of class and elegance in that case. It looks cheesy on this one.
Well i have seen some SUVs running 20 & 21 inch & you are right they look out of place in most cases. My friend has an aftermarket 20 inch rim on his Q7 it looks a bit out of place in my opinion on his car because tire seemed too narrow for the rim width. Yokohama S drives for example have different appearance(looks good) than A Drive of same size. So sometimes tires also matter.

But main thing i realized was when i saw a black 2010 year odd Range Rover sport with a body kit running 21 inch here in Bangalore is that it should be lowered!!!

The Range i saw looked very similar to the pic posted. Having an SUV with raised/stock height & running any rim is a very difficult look to pull of! As you said on a sedan it would look classy & i feel even a 18 inch with right tires should do good as it sits lower & closer to the tires.

From what you describe about the person i am assuming this guy is not a hardcore enthusiast. He must have bought the car & seen a rap video & car accesories guy must have said pointing to a poster of Vossen wheels in the store & said "awesome brand sir buy it" & he had it installed [:)]
I guess since its dirty in the pic you posted it appears odd than when seen in reality.First when i read & saw pic i assumed its a old Scorpio running these wheels until i noticed the front lights.
And most people who run such wheels have different cars for other use so must be annoying to change tires like this.

Yes, then it looks like some toy cars (diecast scale models) we see. Excess of everything is bad.

+1

True. Else he would have used his other set of wheels for city driving and used these high stability rims (low profile, high grip) for highway runs. Currently he is doing just the opposite!

manish12345 - Gloss black would go well in this colour. Matte finishes won't look good as the car has a dark and metallic finish. Still, matte black would look better than gunmetal grey.

Vishak - Which car is that? Zen jellybean shape?

Yes, one advantage of plasti dip is that it can be removed. But I think you should get the wheels photoshopped by experts on the forum (search on the TUV300 thread; there are some professionals) and go for powder coat only. If you have people who can do plasti dip, then you can go for it.

@ Manish12345 There are people in Mumbai who undertake plastic dip work im not sure whether in Hyderababd you have the services or not. However i would say go for gloss black powder coating for the alloys it would look smashing. Long Sedans look cool only in 3 colours to me white, Black, and metalic Grey.

@manish12345

You can go for alloy wheels done in matt black & have the outer rim lip stickered with red or yellow colour, it will look good, you can get the outerlip painted different if you dont want the sticker & if your sure also.
My friend had got it done on an SX4 & it looked nice.

Edit: Not sure dark wheels will go along with that chrome grill your having.

I agree. manish12345 (6789[lol]), you should get the chrome grill painted to matte/gloss black along with the alloys. My friend had got chrome grill (similar to the one you have) painted in matte black in his Swift and it looked really good (like some aftermarket mesh) because of the design of the grill (texture feel).

Hi ,

Did any one fitted after market alloys for the all new baleno as the once on the production model looks less appealing for the body it is holding.

16" is fine for Baleno IMO, considering Indian road conditions. There is a silver Baleno with grey alloys from Ciaz (multi spoke ones) in my locality and looks absolutely premium, OEM style. I will try to post a picture.

You can go ahead and get 16" aftermarket wheels in stock size, why worrying?
