(MODS- I would be pleased if you can merge this post and the pics to my previous post that shows 25 points of TD experience)

Hello Again, I had a second TD just for the namesake.
Granny was especially excited this time as she had missed the experience last time.

26)Tried Hill control and it works like a charm. It controls the car Via braking on downhill and keeps speed controlled. On uphill situation, It won't allow the car to roll back even with brake released and Clutch depressed. Pleasantly, this option is also included on 2wd version.

27)Separate Foot AC vents for second row are installed under front seats. India First!

28)Thinking where to install such amps as there is hardly any vacant corner and also Reason 27.

29) Very poor space with all seats up. My woofer won't fit here.

30)Had chosen blue color but had to do with white due to interior trim.

31)Expensive accessories price list.

32)There's Recline adjustment for middle row.

^^ point no: 26:

These are two different features one is Hill Hold and other is Hill Descent control.

The hill hold function is active all the time and cannot be deactivated,
The Hill descent control is the one which applies brakes while going downhill as soon as you remove your foot of the accelerator. I think the speed that needs to be maintained is fixed for every gear (dont know what that is though). The HDC or the hill descent control can be deactivated from the bottom of the center console.

Although when driving in ghats I wouldnt recommend the use of HDC for prolonged duration and instead I would use more of engine braking. As the use of HDC for prolonged duration will heat up the brake pads thereby reducing efficiency.

You can try to fit the amp in one of the glove boxes if possible. other locations can be above the rear foot ac vents, between the vents and the cooler column. how about fitting it on the ceiling?

Thanks for the detailed explanation mate,
Thats good about Hill hold. I think it needs to be activated by pressing brake once. Then, it holds vehicle even if brake is released or Clutch is depressed. Otherwise the vehicle rolls backward.

Your advice about HDC on Ghats is invaluable. However, I feel the HDC speeds should be set even lower. It feels like 20km/h recently. Its difficult esp on curves. Do you think Cruise control can be used for Cruising down the Ghats? or it deactivates on turns/Brakes?

For the amp,Glove boxes are way too small. Not even a laptop will fit there.
It may work below Co-driver seat, but will partially block the flow; on the other hand it will cool the amp and increase its life.
I am thiking to put the amp on the back net of co driver seat (there's net to hold maps there) That would be easiest and no drilling. However Naughty kids may pull up wires or mess up tuning. Also it will be visible for thieves.
Cieling, I haven't thought but that would need tearing down the roof for wirings and SUB wires are thick. other option is above arm rests of third rows (Near AC controls and cup holders)

Cruise Control should work but it doesnt work at speeds lower than 20kmph. and going down the ghats at more than 20-25 will be scary.

Cruise Control gets deactivated when you press either the brake or the clutch pedal. but it can be resumed to the set speed by pressing teh RES button on the RHS of the steering.

Yeah all the technology in XUV5OO has to meet a criteria before activating be it the Hill hold, start-stop, cruise, air bags etc.

If you place it above the arm rest of the 3rd row wouldnt it be a nuisance in case you want to fold the 3rd row for luggage?

if I were you I would avoid messing up with any of the front seats. in W8 there are air bags in them which might create a problem due to the drilling and other stuff.

Does the amp get hot during operation? if yes, then the best place would be beneath the front seats in front of the vents. Those vents dont have much effect on cooling as far as i can feel, as rarely you direct the flow to the feet.

Not really buddy, many cars have this, even my humble punto had it.

The amp generates a lot of heat when its operated and needs to be placed in a well ventilated area. It would fry itself up if installed in the glovebox. Moreover, even if there is space, the glovebox lid is not designed to carry the weight of the amp.

Yes, CC will be deactivated once you depress the clutch or the brake.

Your best place to fit the amp is either below the second row or on the back of the third row.

folding that 3rd rows, I don't think so. the arm rests are made into side plastics and won't interfere. there's about 3 inch space there. however I'm still afraid into drilling these plastic as there are ac controls on it. otherwise it was the best place and woofer would be just nearby.

first row seats, I wasn't talking about drilling but simply placing the amp in that net/pouch thingy which is supposed to hold maps etc...

under the co driver seat seems again a best spot and cooling vents would help the amp and everything would stay out of sight /fiddling.

is there any space in the co driver footwell? like if I bolt it vertically to the center console divider? that would be near my right foot if I sat there.

there is space in the front footwell but again electronics and a lot of wires will be there. plus it might also hurt the feet if the passenger is travelling without shoes.

I can't imagine how a passenger may get hurt? do you mean the heat?
I think the best way is to buy an amp and physically try it in many places. simple but effective.
now that leaves us to bigger problem. the woofer itself! where may it go?

thanks to you all for active participation.

I don't think it gets That hot. however let's see. I'll get the amp installed at dealer itself, because that involves opening the hu and dashboard. models I'm not sure,it depends on what's available and what fits well. woofer I may install later or make one myself as it should fit amidst few inches if gap at rearmost .
I'm thinking 2 small woofers (8 or 10 inch ) rather than one large so that they fit inside cramped spaces or we may remove just 1 woofer for luggage space and still enjoy neat bass. any good, sealed enclosed subs in your view mate? I'll have a hard time finding anything in Jalgaon, I suppose

Chk out the Kicker TC104 sub woofer. 10 inches with enclosure. This one should fit behind the 3rd row in the small space.

This was the one that the accessory guy recommended me for the XUV without hampering the boot space.

Hi bhvm cruise controls are for steady relaxing drives and not for ghat driving. Please dont ever use them in the ghats - you need full manual control in the ghats rather.
A wise gentleman once said use the same gear come down as you would going up!

Use cruise control for highway/expressway drives - you get good FE and two happy feet as a bonus!

Yes, CC will be deactivated once you depress the clutch or the brake.

Below second row, That seems a nice location now. Lets see if it allows me to tune the crossovers without Unbolting the seats everytime. Otherwise i'll go below front seats.
