Okay,

It is much delayed, find my impressions of first drive of the Ertiga of Mr.Ranger

- Nice exterior and interior view
- Good space inside
- Good Head and leg room
- Comfortable seating position
- Steering is very light
- Never felt like driving a lengthy car
- clutch is light
- no turbo lag
- Easy to drive
- Good turbo kick like Ritz and Swift
- Acceptable boot space when 3rd row is not folded and excellent boot space if you fold 3rd row
- Mileage seems to be good according to Mrranger
- A personal and family vehicle
- Value for money
- Gear shift is short and good
- Nice music system(stock)
- 2nd row space is good

This ticks lot of boxes for a family man[:)]
Finally you wrote about your experience, hope you like it since both were busy so we couldnt spend much time off the vehicle sorry about that.
I feel Ertiga is a very intelligent choice since ertiga can play all kind of roles except a off-roader,
it can carry people with affordable fuel cost and also we can take it to office daily in traffic since this car is easy to drive and also returns good FE.

I can say Ertiga is a practical car than calling a Family car. Everyone has a family and a car is ment not for a single person to travel on most ocassions. Why I chose Ertiga over other cars is its sedan like drivablity. The FE is awesome in City, Maruti badge that means trust. Its clever space management, Cheaper maintenance, It pulls easily 7 people on board no strain found. Driving in city is very easy with its riding position.

The forum is divided on usage on Synthetic oil. So am I. But since I don't have first hand experience planning to try it out once and feel the difference myself.

But most of us agree on oil change after the initial run-in, though Maruti doesn't insist on oil change in 1st service. Somehow I also didn't change in first service - but changed promptly @5000kms i.e second service. In hindsight I have been thinking that I should have done in first service itself. Please don't let your 'new' engine choke in loose metal particles for 10,000kms without oil change.

Also, if you haven't installed cabin air filter you might want to consider that as well. It doesn't cost much.

Capacity is 3L or 3.1L @ approx. Rs 300 - 400 / Liter. Yes. I meant AC filter only. I added that too only in 5000km service.

Synthetic is what company recommends,i would use synthetic for my petrol zxi, since buttery smoothness in engine.[:)].My LUV is on 3100 kms on odometer planning to change at 3rd service, which may be in next May.
Rather it is company recommendation for all MJD's.

Hey guys, can you guide me with the service need & cost?
My car ZDI is going for 20k kms service so what all is needed & will cost how much?
Hello Cruiser Based on my experience I suggest following stuffs to be serviced or replaced.
  • Engine Oil change(type: as per the recommended choice)
  • Oil Filter Change
  • Air Filter Change
  • Brake Oil replacement (dot oil)
  • Clutch Oil ( this one I should check whether this is applicable for ertiga )
  • transmission oil
  • Front housing oil( Im not sure how ertiga is designed so just ask with service guy)
  • Replace Coolant
  • Check any rusty part in engine bay or some components
  • Check battery condition
  • All electronic/electrical checkup

All this things are general 20k km service items, The service cost must be under 8k rupees,
Apart from these just check your vehicle very carefully at least from 4 days before service and note down if any issues like door rattling, clutch play issue, steering play issue and other electrical and mechanical problems and mention it to service adviser.

Thank you ranger for your help.
The MASS guy has told me if you hange brake oil than brake bleeding is also needed and the charges for both are different and if you change coolant radiator needs to be flushed and again charges for both are different and injector cleaning is also needed. Is all this necessary or it is just their tricks to mint more money from us?
As he has recommended my total bill will come to around in the range of 13-15k.

  • Brake check up they should do in a package I dont think they charge different.

Radiator Flush Guide lines
  • there is no set of guild lines for Radiator flush frequency:
  • usually you have to do at 50000km that to not a rule, in most of the case manufactures specifies some intervals in terms of year or number of KM.
  • It is always good to flush radiator in very close intervals like yearly basis or KM basis(40k km) this will increase your engine life time.
[*]Moreover this interval depends on one's driving style so you can take pH level test to make sure your coolant water acidity level is good enough.

  • if pH level is good just tap your coolant to correct level and leave that part for some more km.

in your case your car is just 20k km old I dont think you need a flush.

Most of the time we forget that we are better than Service adviser that is because we love our cars so they try to pull you with more unnecessary work and try to get more money out of you.

just take pH test and i'm sure your dolphin is not required radiator flush yet
