Read the thread 2-3 times in last few days. It haunts me. I feel really scared while seeing those photos. OMG. Poor souls.

The last time i went to Kudajadri (near Kollur Mookambika temple), we went in 4 wheel drive jeep.

Great photos and travelogue. Thank you for sharing. Will visit there for sure in near future !
Thank you appus

Its really worth visiting Danushkodi after knowing the history

Great travelogue Mr. RAM with excellent narration through those Pictures. I was planning to have a drive to Kanyakumari with my parents. Your trip certainly inspired me to do it.
you are a true Travel enthusiastic #RESPECT
Thank you SOOZ_PUNTO. When you are driving to Kanyakumari, you can cover South Kerala also. But avoid during monsoon.

@Ram Sir,

When I was chatting with my father on his visit of Rameshwaram during 1986 he said, there were no jeeps to Dhanushkodi and they have gone by walk to that place, how far is Dhanushkodi from Rameshwaram

He must be correct. Now only 4 wheel drive vehicles can go to Danushkodi. Its nearly 18 kms from Rameswaram. The tar road ends just before Danushkodi and the remaining distance is off road till the ruins

Excellent travelogue with nice pics!!
After going through the entire log I felt; I myself was driving again to Kanyakumari. I travelled in 2011 Decemeber till Kanyakumari. But I missed the Dhanukodi trip due to time constraint. I will surely plan this in near future...!

Sir,

Can v take our bikes out there??
If you can take your bike to Himalayas then why not to Danushkodi? Of-course you can. Only thing you got to be little careful while riding on the sandy surface near the sea. In worst case you can park the bike and walk for few meters and cover all the spots.

Ultimately, its on your confidence, courage and mindset.

Himalayas, yes sir, thats indeed very true..
Sandy surfaces would be a bit of a challenge.. but then, what is the fun if there are no challenges.. [;)]

Yes, you will get the real satisfaction only when you take challenges, and that will remain in your memory for ever, otherwise its a routine thing like a passing cloud. Go ahead, anything and everything is possible if you have a solid mind.

Ram Sir,

In the movie Chennai Express, a long bridge over the sea is shown as the route to Rameshwaram. Is that the actual route?? [confused]
