Sir,

Excellent one more travelogue from you again it made me a virtual tour of kanyakumari and dhanushkodi. Kudo's to the pics and details presented about the history of dhanushkodi which makes me curious about visiting this place sometime in life.

I really appreciate your thrust of driving and visiting places and the patience of posting a nice thread with attaching so many pics with details. I rate this thread as five star and looking forward to meet you some time in Bangalore.[:)]
Thank you Gurrala. Consider a trip to Danushkodi and its really worth.

Hi there AR Ram, these pics reminded me of our trip during 2011 year end to Kanyakumari.

Where did you stay in Rameshwaram, we never knew there was boating in Rameshwaram.

We hired one Maxi Cab after driving till Dhanushkodi.

Hope you didn't miss the sweet water in small well, just few metres away from the sea in Dhanushkodi.

How much did the jeep guy asked you for the drive

Here is a tlog of my experience to the place: http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...rai-rameshwaram-kanyakumari-2.html#post125724
I think the Kumbh Mela happens once in 12 years, did the temple of Rameshwaram had fresh paintings?
When we had visited the paint on the roof was hardly visible.

We missed the beauty of Pamban bridge, the bridge was well painted then.

In Kanyakumari was there visit to Thiruvallur statue, as we were told ferry boat would be taken only to Vivekananda's memorial due to high tides near the statue.

Little did we knew that Trivandrum was just 180 kms from Kanyakumari.

The fare of the ferry ship was just 20/-, now they have hiked it in a year. http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...-madurai-rameshwaram-kanyakumari-img_1145.jpg

Now thinking for a trip after seeing your Tlog.

To Tanjavur's Brihadeshwar temple (For its rich heritage of culture), Kodaikanal, Trivandrum esp Kovalam Beach and Valparai.

Thank you Mukesh.

We stayed at Hotel MCM Towers, Near temple, No.5 Mandi Street. Walkable distance to Temple and beach. I booked through Cleartrip in advance and tariff was INR 2414 for two nights for A/c double room after discount. Good service and ample car parking.

Boating is there - Opp. to TTDC (Tamilnadu Tourism Development Corporation) Hotel. For half an hour boating into the sea they charged Rs. 60/- per head.

We had seen sweet water well but no one was around there.

The Jeep guy charged Rs. 1200/-. arranged by Hotel Travel desk. He picked us up and dropped us back at the hotel. The trip took about three hours and had covered almost all locations.

We didn't notice any fresh paintings on the Temple. Since photography is not allowed inside, I didn't carry the camera also to take one.

I did see your TL earlier itself and its really interesting and excellent.

Yes indeed! The painting on the Pamban bridge was looking new almost.

Tourists Entry to the Thiruvalluar Statue was restricted because the renovation work was going on. It was visible on the pictures that structures are erected around the statue. The tariff is revised and the present to & fro ferry tariff is Rs 34/- per head.

Trivandrum is only 90 kms (one way) away from Kanyakumari, but the road stretch is not so good and heavy traffic as well. Avoid visiting on Mondays because some of the important spots are closed on Mondays.

The hotel rooms photographs are attached

Thank you once again Mukesh

Nice picturers and interesting narration.

Another wonderful travelogue from a senior member.

Just curious to know - Last time too, you have started the trip as solo from Palakkad and the real trip was from Bangalore. Anything special about the starting place.

Thank you autosafari.

My mother (doesn't like Bangalore weather) lives in Palakkad, my family (doesn't like Palakkad weather) lives in Bangalore and me (weather proof) got business in Chennai. So for me its a triangular travel always. Every trip, other than business trip, my wife accompanies me or without her no trip. She also got the same travel addiction like me. And in past there were trips originated from Palakkad also.

Ram sir,

Excellent TL. In one word, AWESOME trip and TL.

Even though I belong to TN, never visited Dhanushkodi till date. Heard lot about it. And recently my wife started pestering me to take her to Rameshwaram. I have a college friend in rameshwaram who is working as Deputy Dhasildar there and he belongs to place called Thangachi madam near rameshwaram. so i can get lot of previlage if I visit here. Should plan for a 4 or 5 days days trip there.

And this TL forcing me to make it ASAP.

Thanks for sharing so many info. Before going I will go thru this thread take notes so that I dont miss anything.

@Sethu Sir,

Why don't we plan a trip combined after some time, I think the climate is not suitable now to visit south. As the same thing was also on my mind to make a family trip, so is that sounds good to you. A trip like from Chennai-trichy-tanjavore-rameshwaram-kanyakumari-trivandrum-alleppy-coachin-munnar-madurai-chennai

Thank you Sethumurugan and Gurrala

Yes. Now the climate is very hot, however comparing to Chennai I feel the temp. is low and tolerable. And in June the monsoon starts, sea may be rough and restriction will be there for boating. In Kerala during monsoon the rain will be severe and non stop, So plan accordingly.

Thanks dear
