Animals got the right of way in this road.

Its conveyed to all road users by Forest dept with the help of sign boards.

Thats quite logical also since the road is passing through a forest.

Awesome pics @autosafari . One feels as if one had virtually traveled with you all the way. Wish we could somehow see the 3D pics to get the real effect of valley , the cliffs and hair pin bends.

Excellent surroundings, well captured. I'm glued to your posts. Thanks
Thanks carabiker and nozzlering.

Idea was to help create a feel of the travel for those who are reading this travelogue. Happy to know that its working somewhat.

With that we passed the hairpin bends of Thimbam hills.
It was a breathtaking scenery of the valley and cliffs and a nice driving through those hairpin bends.

A few kilometers after Thimbam hills, there was a Police check post with barricades on the road we need to drive an "S". There a Police Officer enquired about the destination and also where we are coming from.

After crossing that check post, we saw Bannari Amman Temple on the right side. A short stop there and we are again on the main road towards Sathyamangalam.

It was getting too hot outside and the two line highway is reflecting back all the heat and light.

Another 70 kilometers to reach Coimbatore.

It was almost dull looking barren land on either side and no scope for pictures.

Traffic increased considerably when we were nearing Coimbatore.

Its 2.30 PM and we were looking for a good restaurant.

Near Ganapathy, we found Annapurna on the left side itself. It was a new restaurant and parking was available.

Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Seats were good and comfortable and Air conditioning was working fine on a hot day.

After lunch, a slow drive through Coimbatore City traffic. Heavy traffic continued till Madukkarai.

Took a left turn at KG Chavadi towards Velanthavalam.

Velanthavalam is famous for the farmers' market which supplies vegetables to several districts in Kerala.

There were some crator like potholes after the Velanthavalam bridge near the check post.

From there we took the road through Natukkal, Nallepilly, Chittur, Kollengode and then the road towards Nemmara.

A Short trip to Malampuzha:

Malampuzha dam is the largest reservoir in Kerala. On the foot hills of western ghats it is build across river Malampuzha which is a tributary of Bharathappuzha, the most famous river in Kerala.

Malampuzha is about 10 km from Palakkad town. Attractions in Malampuzha are the Dam, Garden, Rope way, Rock garden, sculpture of The Yakshi, Snake park, fish shaped aquarium, boating, Amusement park etc and nearby Kawa which is an excellent trekking location.

They are charging Rs 100 to take our camera in.
Charges for Handycam is a Rip off - Rs 1000 !!! (These charges are only for the garden and dam)

Sandy,

It was a long tour and planned it almost over a month in selecting the places and finalising routes, hotels etc. Managing and planning the Kerala part in this trip was quite easy because I am from that state and we have our home there. (currenty I am staying in Daman)

Usual tourist circuits in Kerala like Alleppey, Cochin, Munnar, Kovalam, Wayanad, Bakel etc appear in various sites, blogs and publications regularly. Here in this travelogue, I was trying to picture some of those places in Kerala which are not seen by many from outside the state.
