Autosafari: Hope you will like to go on such long tours again and again and this forum will be benefitted from your first hand experience of Manza Drive on long distances.

This will have two benefits: 1 Testing of reliability of Manza

2. Enjoyment of long journey and beautiful scenes on the ways

I have been to Mysore zoo twice and loved the ambiance. Great place for a stroll with lots of rest areas for a tired pair of legs.

For the lion and the lioness, that is their favorite corner.

Sad to hear that a lot of animals are dying there these days.

BTW, I didn't see the white tiger in your photos. The palace looks great all lit up.

Highway Ranger,

Me too have been to Mysore zoo twice.

Last time we could see white tiger.

It seems they have closed the pathway leading to white tiger's den and removed the sign board too. The only white tiger in Mysore Zoo (Tigress infact) Reetha is ill and health is steadily deteriorating due to old age.

Very sad to hear that lot of African hunting Cheetahs have died these days.
A Mother Cheetah and three cubs died recently.

Zoo management is seeking the help of wildlife veterinarians to save remaining cubs.

Rahul Dravid has adopted 2 Cheetah cubs for 1 year paying Rs 1,00,000 (Rs 50K each) under the Animal Adoption Scheme.
Others like Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath, M.S. Dhoni and Zaheer Khan have already adopted animals at Mysore zoo.

Dude, Awesome Pics.

You have let the pictures do the talking for your trip which worked very well.

Don't forget to add the summary of your trip at the end of your updates.

Thanks Pr3m.

Write up (summary of the trip) is there scattered in between the pictures.

In Mysore, stay at Hotel Pai Vista was excellent with clean and well appointed rooms.
They have done good job of increasing the room sizes as compared to what we saw during our earlier visit in 2010.

Morning breakfast buffet at their roof top 'Jungle' restaurant is sumptous. Those two restaurants in Pai Vista, Jungle and Gufa are very good for a great dinner either midday or late evening.

While returning from Mysore, we decided to take a different route than going back through the same (Bandipur - Mudumalai - Nilambur) route.

New route is Mysore - Nanjangud - Chamarajnagar - Sathyamangalam - Coimbatore - Velanthavalam - Chittur - Kollengode

Started from Mysore at 8:30 in the morning after a relaxed break fast at Jungle.

While driving through the main road near the Palace, two persons standing in the middle of the road stopped us and was asking to pull over to side. Then they told us that there is no point in going further since the Palace is closed. Just smiled at them and informed that we are going towards Ooty (its called Ooty road). Then they waived and said good bye.

Filled diesel at a pump and asked them for directions to turn towards Chamrajanagar.
They told us to take a left turn after a railway gate some 20 km away. Was driving ahead looking for a railway gate. Could not see one and reached a 3 way junction. Checked with a Police Officer there and he suggested us to take a U turn and take a right turn at the railway gate. (Taking a left turn from that junction also take us to Chamarajnagar but as per him it will be confusing for us)

A U turn and two kilometers later we solved the puzzle. Railway gate is not on the road we are driving. Took a right turn and then we passed the railway gate.

At the outskirts of Nanjangud town, while we were heading towards Chamarajanagar, reached this junction where a good road is going straight and a right turn which was looking like an unused cut road - infact that was full of potholes and boulders and was not looking like a road.

So we went straight without any doubt. After a few kilometers, there was a feeling (sixth sense) that we are on a wrong route. Found some villagers and checked with them... Ohh we are on a wrong route.

Again U turn and after some time a left turn to reach that rocky construction site like road. One SUV was moving very slow infront of us and a Fiesta Classic behind us was really struggling. Road condition improved after half a kilometer.

Empty road and scattered potholes tempted me to try a zig zag driving.
It was fun and felt like some old DOS based computer game.
