Have seen the junction, but never been on that route. Does it by any chance lead to Waynad?

BTW, the cane forest as we enter Mudumalai is awesome.
There is a route to Sultan Bathery from Gudalur. Nilambur route is different.

Pictures of that cane forest are here.

That is a great place, those cane forests. In spite of the warning signs every 300 meters or so, we stopped and clicked some photos. Also saw a lone elephant and stopped and clicked one shot and scooted.

In some places the growth is so dense that the area is dark.

You really covered a lot of territory this trip. [clap]

BTW, taking pictures through the windshield has lessened the impact of some of the photos due to the reflection of the dash.

That was the idea. Cover maximum places possible in this trip. Still we had to cut down about 1000 km from our plan due to work requirements.

Did not stop to take pictures because in some places it was not allowed to stop vehicle due to restrictions by Forest department and in some other places, stopping for photo session would have affected our schedule.

After Nadugani, we reached Gudalur junction. Left turn to Mysore and right turn is to Ooty.

After Gudalur it was Mudumalai. Did not spot any wild animals here and we continued towards Bandipur.

There is a spead breaker for every kilometer in Mudumalai to restrict vehicle speed because it is a designated reserve forest area and wild life sanucturay.

After Mudumalai, its Bandipur.

In Bandipur also we did not spot any wild animals that day. Spead breakers in Karnataka side are bigger and made in a crude way.

Road was bad for about 10 km here.

Next point is Gundlupet where we stopped for lunch.

After one hour break, we are were driving towards Mysore via Nanjangud.

At Mysore, it was big traffic jam near the Palace since its a Sunday and middle of Summer holidays.

Checked in at Pai Vista.

Pai Vista is a very good hotel to stay in Mysore.
There are two restauants which are top class.
A roof top restaurant is named Jungle and themed accordingly. Will get a feeling of Forest with trees, wild animals and waiters dressed like forest guards. Other restaurant Gufa is based on a cave theme.

Service is good and food is tasty too.

Mysore Palace:

Every Sunday at 7:00 PM, its illuminated with thousands of light bulbs.

Reached the place 20 minutes early and was waiting for the illumination.

I was asking you what is that special thing about their Dosa.

I am Vegetarian.
Mylari hotel is called Chaddi hotel by old mysoreans especially students who studied in the university.
Mylari dosa's are just too good, one person can have upto 3 dosa's with ease. They also have some specialty dosa which i am not able to recollect.
Best is their coffee and good thing is they serve mini coffee as well which is almost the same quantity of one coffee of bangalore darshini's. Coffee is available here till about 8:30 in the night.

I was been there in Mysore zoo & Palace during my 5th std. annual leave.

I'm recalling my childhood memories of that trip.

Thanks for those pics [:)]
