Re: “Thunderbolt” XUV 5OO Detailed Review (Decals, Audio, LED, Mods++)

Thank you for the information.

I have a motion sensor switch which I got from USA but it works on 110v. Is there a possibility to use that ? I haven't opened it up [roll]

Sorry if I am hi-jacking your thread.
1. I would be difficult to mod it for car use. better look for a 12v switch.
2. not a problem. that's why threads are there. to help people.

Well I got my first service at India Garage itself. As I mentioned, more to do with RM who was least interested in listening to my issues.
Will demand for a different RM next time and see.

Thanks a lot [:)]. Can you share the link of 12v switch so I can try to import them ?

20,000KM Service Update-

Complaints and Discussion-

1) constant rubbing noise from engine bay- This is an old complaint. The diagnosis was that Water pump needs to be replaced (Under warranty). However the Pump was not in stock again! Matter pending.

2)Lowbeam alignment, fog alignment -
Adjusted the headlights and fog lights as below-

3)mud flaps coming loose- Flaps opened and Pasted using some gel.

4)warm air being thrown at feet via AC vents- Problem not Understood or recreated.

5) Noise from Auto Folding Mirrors (when closing)- Problem pending due to Power cut

6) Wash- Wash pending due to power cut.
Bills-

Re: “Thunderbolt” XUV 5OO Detailed Review (Decals, Audio, LED, Mods++)

@bhvm: Hot air blowing issue - I had the same problem which was fixed. Is your Auto Climate control system on? have you tried manual AC setting?

My issue was fixed by fixing the ECU software?! It was not recreated but the RM at India Garage quickly acknowledged the issue and fixed it. I did not witness what he did but it was fixed during my first service. It has been >6 months now, and only once I experienced the same problem; but I would like to state that it is fixed now.

On a lighter note - whenever I faced this problem (prior to the fixing) I had to switch off the engine, wait for a whilst before switching on. If that did not work, even got out of the car after switching off, lock the car and then get back in the car, switch on the engine. It worked! Don't question my sanity but hey, can't expect much from an IT guy [;)]

Seriously, it could be Auto Climate control software issue or the sensor issue.

Hey Manuman! Thanks for dropping in,
The 'AUTO' switch on my AC control is always off. (its totally useless as It prefers outside Air). This Warm Air on Feet issue is more present in early mornings (6AM). However, if we set the Temp control all the way cold (16.C) the problem disappears and Feet vents also throw cool air no matter what.

Whats annoying is, Face vents have Cool air, and Feet vents have Hot air. Very funny. Shall I force them for a full Software Update? Is this the same as ECU reflash?

Else, I just got a call from service guy that the Water Pump (Responsible for Long unsloved "tooob toobbb" Noises) has arrived. However its dumb to have a roundabout of 250KM for the same [frustration], so its scheduled at next visit.
Thanks.

Re: “Thunderbolt” XUV 5OO Detailed Review (Decals, Audio, LED, Mods++)

Hello everyone,[anger]
It hurts to tell that XUV Thunerbolt Suffered its first Dent[frustration]
yesterday, late night , when my dad brought the vehicle (From a trip to nearby city) I noticed that the Corner of Rear Bumper is squashed. Its a small damage but it sure hurts!

Please explain the following-
1) will I have to replace the Top (White) and Lower (black) Bumper ? Are they one piece?
2) Approx Cost of damages
3) What would be the process of Insurance Claim ( I have zero Dep insurance)
4) What about the Sensors and rev camera? Will these transferred to new bumper or Will I have to pay for new?

Please hurry as my insurance ends this Apri 3rd.

Ahh that hurts buddy. What happened?

Please explain the following-
1) will I have to replace the Top (White) and Lower (black) Bumper ? Are they one piece?
I think they are 2 different pieces. Not sure though buddy never paid attention to that honestly.
2) Approx Cost of damages
Please check with the dealership. Just give a call to your RM
3) What would be the process of Insurance Claim ( I have zero Dep insurance)
Intimate your insurance agent about the same.
Take the vehicle to dealership, rest they will handle.
4) What about the Sensors and rev camera? Will these transferred to new bumper or Will I have to pay for new?
Yes the sensors and camera can be transferred to new bumper.

Please hurry as my insurance ends this Apri 3rd.
My advice don't claim anything until April 3rd. Get your insurance renewed and then take the car to dealership and get it repaired. Because if you claim right now, your premium will increase a bit. So let the insurance get renewed and then go ahead and get it fixed.

Thanks for the fastest reply Singh, My replies in BOLD

Ahh that hurts buddy. What happened?

I think somebody bumped from the rear while trying to swerve out. Left edge of his Car hit our right edge.
I will ask dad about details.

Hmm, That means both Pieces need to be replaced, as scratches have gone up to the white piece as well. No RM facility at nearby service station. I'll still ring their service advisor and let you know.

Intimate your insurance agent about the same.
Take the vehicle to dealership, rest they will handle.
Nearest dealership 120KM , one way.[frustration]
So I can't go 'Just' for estimates or stuff. I will have to confirm everything and get works done in 1 Shot (and one day)

Yes the sensors and camera can be transferred to new bumper.

I did'nt understand what you said. You mean place the claim in next insurance term? If so, won't the scar go "OLD" and they'll reject it. Once the guy told me that if damage is proven old , they do not entertain the claim.

Also, please explain Claim process as the service center is in Other city and Insurance office is in my city.[anger]. Again, please explain about No Claim Bonus thing (no experience with that at all) and Cost of repairs. If cost of repairs is less, its better to repair in cash?

Re: “Thunderbolt” XUV 5OO Detailed Review (Decals, Audio, LED, Mods++)

BHVM sorry to see this, i can feel your pain, but most importantly and first step you need to do is clean up the place thoroughly and also using a rubbing compound - i think you will end up with some minor scratches at max, it doesnt look necessary for a insurance reclaim at all. Use a good rubbing compound - there will be some remnant scars but i dont think it warrants any replacements. The foreign stuff needs to be removed thoroughly to show up the real scars.

Post a pic after you do this.

Re: “Thunderbolt” XUV 5OO Detailed Review (Decals, Audio, LED, Mods++)

You dont need to tell them when the scar happened. Cmon, they are not going to bring in forensic experts and evaluate when the accident occurred.

Just renew your insurance and then go to the A.S.S. They will take care of everything.

Or as Iron Rock mentioned, try using the rubbing compound. Take your car to a professional detailer like 3M. A couple of big scratches in my Punto were gone after a visit to 3M. Depends on how deep the scratches are.

Hi bhvm you can get it repaired outside also (IF YOU WILLING).They will do a touch up and you can then clean it thoroughly with a rubbing compound ,Little polishing .
Leave it and clean it with pipe or bucket .It will be good .

If you are going to take it to a MASS,It will take more then 1 day and as you said its 240 KM .You spend diesel also for minor but first dent !
They will change cladding or do touch up!.I don't think you should take insurance ,Take it when a major accident or dent occurs according to me .

I have deliberately NOT touched anything in case the insurance guy wants a survey. I was told so During policy creation.
I guess you guys can't see in the pic, but the corner piece has gone IN. there's like a small crater on the black part. I will try pic from other angle if it helps. I could not Pull the crater out with my hand.

Again, Rubbing compounds= Trip to nearby city. I live in a damm village![frustration]

Going to service center and Detailing center is same. 120KM. I don't think the rubbing will help much, Scratches look deep and one can feel them by rubbing hands over it. The White paint has totally come off and the Black plastic beneath is visible in the scars.

What do you mean my Leave it to ASS? Repair it by cash?

I will ring service center at 11~12 and keep you posted about it. If the cost of bumper is less than NCB, I may repair by cash.
Also, What a nice time for Scars as I have to go Gujrat this weekend and then on to Bombay For my sister's college forms[cry]

Thanks everyone for quick inputs.

Sorry for that.
But from the pictures, it doesn’t seem to be any serious to either to make an insurance claim or any bumper replacement. I hope all the electricals including reverse sensor/camera are working fine and there is no crack or rattle but just a minor bruise. If it’s just the latter, get a detailed paint job at the A.S.S to see your beast back in glory.[:)]
