Hope you join us sir
You know that I always wanted to join any meet anywhere, but as our new house construction will start in August at my native, so little doubtful on that time[:)]
If it is full of singles then will this place be okie as if we are not going to roam around all the places. we would like to have calm and un crowded place to have chit-chat and other things if people are interested [That is the main reason i wanna night stay]
Yes if it is only singles then that place is OK and quiet for all type of discussions and other things too
I dont think that way sir, Being that is holiday that places will have full crowd and they will have all their menus. if you go on non-holiday, since less people are expected then as you said we might end up in having sambar idle
Sethu, it is not a regular holiday and it is the one of the National holidays(15th august, oct 2nd, 26th january) where everything is on ban and also the stay is by AP government, so definately they follow the rules there.
This is the case everywhere I believe.
I agree with you on this everywhere it will be same during monsoon, but considering its small area, it will be more difficult in rains to venture out.
Iam okie with it. But lot of people are willing to come with their family and make this meet as part of their outing
Yes, if more people are willing to come with families that is fine too, but that place is not worth for a family outing as per my experience.
Some people like me who have different weekly offs other than sat/sun might have problem applying long leaves and really do not know what to say for this
I agree with you on this problem, so it could be either weekend or regular working days or some other general holiday other than this type of national holiday may need to be tried and for that some body has to scarify taking the leaves as we cannot fit the same kind of holiday to every body as holiday system is different.
And am not SE for HH sir pls. I want a place which is with-in 200 KMs [I have some constraints].
Sorry Sethu, I never sounded that you are SE for HH, you have come forward with a good place suggestion, I am just trying to explain you what it offers. Yes that 200km idea is always good and it should be central to chennai and bangalore to bring in more people.
What ever we all agree and convinient for the meet will take place. but whatever we need to act fastly. otherwise am sure we will end up in no place to stay.
I agree with you on this, but according to me the place, singles OR families, dates need to be re considered to make it a grand enjoyable one[:)]

If you want you can do a Independence day meet just for a day like the last time

Rest I leave it to you and other members to suggest ideas quickly

Now, shall we reconsider the date Aug 15th at all? Then, let's change the topic title and make it more attractive for many members to look in to that and participate.

I feel, 3 - 4 days may be too much for a family get together, rather 1 night stay is ideal. Yes, we should look for more locations to make this thread more spicier and attract others to participate well.
How about this? Let's make it just for "Singles" and one day trip on Aug 15th. We can carry our "own stuff" to some small hill, cook ourselves something like Barbeque and return back same evening? This idea may attract a lot more of our guys I think.

In this case. We all have to assemble little bit early than normal timing.

For example, assemble at 7am, breakfast at 8:30am. Need to prepare a good place to cook. Lunch will be around 2pm. leaving around 5pm after tea/snaks .

Wooww... Seems the idea is pretty exciting to many.

In that case what is your suggestion for destination subbu?
Hmmm... that's an unanswerable question yet. I think we will have to change the thread title appropriately or create a new thread to attract more members to get better suggestion?

I think this thread is well and good, but only title needs to be changed to appropriate. First fix the venue which is in a equal distance to Bangalore and Chennai friends and also where you get some assistance of cooking utensils and items. May be it is an advantage if you fix Vellore again as you get all the help from our member Appu and he can also find a right place to have this meet with cooking[:)]

Ok, Sethu Sir, I will elaborate certain things which may be useful for our plan. These are only my personal opinions whether I join the meet or not.

3. Since 15th is a national holiday, lot of things will not be available like non vegterian food as well its a dry day. To be very frank what is a fun if we are in a hill station with some chilled weather and eat sambar idly and sleep down[;)] sorry I am little blunt here.

e
Why is this point so important ? I still don't understand why non vegetarian food will not be available ? Because its 15 August ?

Well I understand " dry day " but anybody can buy the stuff before hand on 13 of 14th August ,I don't see that as a issue atall.

Hogenakkal? Fish, Fish & More Fish... There, we can buy fresh water fish, just catched at cheaper rates and hand it to people who are available there to cook and serve with Rice, Fish Curry & Fry etc. If we have our own facilities, like BBQ Stove etc. we can do it ourselves too. Another plus, Waterfalls, Boating (Parisal) etc.

I heard, the water flow is pretty good now but I am yet to visit. My friends here were planning it for next week or so.

However, it's not exactly equal distance for both sides. It's about 190 KMs from Bangalore and 350 from Chennai.

Yes, Vellore is a pretty good option as well. If we have a plain valley, with greenary etc.? That would be an ideal place. Even a dried up lake would do... [clap]

Have been regularly following this thread from the day it got created. Was not active because I can not confirm our participation at the moment (Lat time i was more active and still could not attend the meet).

Some concerns:-

As RK rightly pointed out, it may NOT be a joyful event if bachelors/singles can not mingle with other families (vice versa). Decision is yours.

If you think bachelors can trek and cook food, others may feel left out ;) (We too young at heart) :D

Family may look for a good place than Yelagiri Hills / Horsely Hills.
Heard about Yelagiri from our Carfreak's thread. That is more for couple who wants to sit alone without much disturbance (Nothing much to see)
Horsely Hills . Ram Sir and RK both have mentioned nothing good for family outing (especially with 1 night stay).

In that case, planning to Horsely Hill a good idea? People who are addicted to TAI may join with families. Others?

As it is still in discussion stage, raised the concerns. Once finalized, can not change the decision right?

Other concerns are also valid. Delaying will result in not getting good accommodation.

All the best :)

Yes. Everywhere it is fish fish fish and massage massage massage. Did not feel good about the place. 1/2 a day is more than enough for this place. Apart from parisal /coracles (boating), nothing there. The fish tastes yuck in most of the shops. Bro & friend had it initially. From their face, i could make out that how bad they were. I did not eat. They had stomach upset later :D. I got saved. Not even a good restaurant nearby. No neatness at all !

Valid points Appus. Hence the idea of Plan B, the usual a day out meet for only TAI Members and friends. Added the ideas of cooking etc. to make it more fun.

I agree with appus.

First we decided to have the meet with family. And definitely most of us might have discussed with families and given them hope of an outing. Is it possible to make them disappointed at this stage?

And about the venue, members who have not opted for HH, because of their own bitter experience with the place. Like RK said, when we depart after the MEET, we should always carry some good memories that will boost the desire to have similar Meets again.

Hoping for a good outcome I feel, let's have the meet with families as decided earlier. Let's be optimistic.

Anyway this is truly my opinion and suggestion.

Yes sir, even I thought about the same too. But the problem is, we couldn't see any active participation in the thread by many members. Hence, thought of giving a Plan B option to see the response. However, nothing is decided and will be based on majority. I can see only about 5 - 6 members are actively participating in the thread and in which, 2 - 3 aren't sure about participating in the meet at this point in time.
