Volkswagen Polo is expected to roll out probably by coming March. The one with rounded tail lamps certainly most hot looking Polo but it’s the sporty GTI version.

1,111,11th Polo Rolls out from the Plant !!

Oh thanks for info. BTW, 1,111,111 Polo has rolled out from the factory !!

Volkswagen Group India has created a milestone in India with it’s yet to be commercially launched hatchback Volkswagen Polo. The 11,111,111th Polo which was produced in VW’s plant in Chakan, India was rolled out on Thursday.

Prof. Dr. Horst Köhler, President of the Federal Republic of Germany who is in India on a state visit visited the Volkswagen plant in Pune to do the honours with Prof. Dr. Jochem Heizmann, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG who is also responsible for ‘Group Production’, and Jörg Müller, President and Managing Director of Volkswagen Group India, at the celebrations to mark the roll-out of the 11,111,111th Polo ever produced.

The Chakan plant in Pune was opened in 2009 and is a key element in Volkswagen’s growth roadmap in the Indian subcontinent. Prof. Heizmann speaking at the event said “The scale of investment to date and the sustainable employment opportunities for people from the region underscore Volkswagen’s long-term commitment to India. The VW Polo built at the Pune plant demonstrates that excellent vehicles are created when German engineering prowess interacts perfectly with Indian skills.”

“We are determined to bring the Polo’s European success story to India. Volkswagen will tap its opportunities in India with vehicles like the Polo, our modern plant in Pune and a highly-motivated workforce,” Heizmann continued.

It must be remembered that Volkswagen Polo was bestowed upon the rare honour of Europe’s “Car of the Year 2010” just a couple of weeks back. Volkswagen began building a hatchback version of the Polo specially designed for the Indian market in December 2009.

At the event celebrating the roll-out of the 11,111,111th Polo, the German President toured the new Volkswagen plant in Maharashtra State accompanied by a delegation of 30 high-ranking representatives from politics and industry. The group found out about the training programs for the newly recruited employees and the innovative production processes at the plant.

The Pune plant is one of the most modern in the Volkswagen Group and covers all stages in the production process from press shop through body shop and paint shop to final assembly. It has a maximum annual capacity of 110,000 vehicles. In addition to the Volkswagen Polo, the Pune plant also builds the Škoda Fabia.

With a total financial commitment amounting to 580 million euros, the Volkswagen plant in Pune is the largest investment to date by a German company in India. Volkswagen plans to employ some 2,500 people locally by the end of 2010.

Correct. We don't see much hype around for the Polo currently but somewhere in the heart, I've a curiosity for the launch of this car and check it in person. The Polo was looking an upmarket and sophisticated hatchback when I had a glimpse of it at Auto Expo 2010.

The Polo has always been a best selling car, in all its avatars, and the number sold is a great compliment to its acceptance.

Oh yeah actually on second thoughts its a great price , but what to do he is a loyal customer to Maruti and his dad also blindly a Maruti believer!! I recommended him to check out Beat , Punto and i20 but he is more inclined towards Swift!!

Lets not go OT here! 4.3L is good but i believe it will be higher than expected and competing with the i20 , Fabia and Jazz!!

Hey Dhaya, if somebody likes Swift, no other car can satisfy him. Swift is indeed a great car.

Yes Polo is from VW, and base price 4.3 is expected from them.
