Volkswagen Polo Hitting Showrooms On 23rd February

Finally, Autocar India confirms that much awaited Volkswagen Polo hatchback will be hitting showrooms on 23rd February. Pricing is still a secret but we can expect the range to start from Rs.4.5 Lakhs.

The Volkswagen Polo is finally all-set to hit the roads in February. The price which has been a closely guarded secret will also be announced on February 23. VW has been working aggressively on localisation to price the Polo competitively so you can expect the base Polo to start at around Rs 4.5 lakh. There will be three engine options available, but the first one to hit the showrooms will be the 1.2-litre 75bhp petrol. The other two engines – 1.2-litre 75bhp diesel and a 1.6-litre 104bhp petrol will follow shortly. The Polo promises to bring class leading levels of quality and comfort to the segment and will be available across three trim levels – Trendline, Comfortline and the Highline.

Okay 4.5L doesn sound too high! But still the prices of the spares may make the maintenance of the vehicle a bit too costly when compared to the other hatches!

Another site (Motorbeam) is reporting the launch to be on first week of March but the Pricing will be revealed on 23rd February.

There were three Polos on the road in Pune that I saw two days back, all with the temp registration. Looked like they were being moved to a stockyard or something.
Looked real good!!

That's great. You should have clicked the pictures and if the car will be on display from first week of March onwards, How was it available at showroom now? Any idea if its available in the South Delhi Showroom?

Well, if this is true, even then, the prices would increase considerably when the car comes on-road. For example, in Mumbai, the Polo's base variant may still cost over Rs.5 lakh which again, isn't inexpensive by any means. I hope prices are lower than what's mentioned here, as i have a lot of hopes pinned on this car.

Aman, this price is perfect, i feel. If the car is good, pricing is excellent. Its almost same as Punto and just little more than Swift/Ritz.

But as far as i know, the Swift, Ritz and Punto's base variants are priced close to Rs.4.50 lakh on-road in Mumbai. Only if VW can price it that low. I made my parents wait for it, and if its not priced right, i am in trouble
