Initiative is good..!! But I doubt it will be limited to those 100 odd newgen dealerships that TATA Motors is planning to open across India. The private dealers will continue doing their unusual practises.. [:)]

In a bid to retain its dealers from exiting, Tata Motors decided to double their margins from 2.5 to 5 percent. Sources told CNBC-TV18's Ronojoy Banerjee this could be the highest margin in the passenger vehicle (PV) industry.

It is believed that the move comes after dealers had been deserting the country’s largest automaker. Its largest dealer in Delhi, who contributed to almost 15 percent of the company’s overall business in Delhi-NCR region, quit from the dealership. This is in addition of three dealers in Mumbai and Delhi each having already moved out.

It was reported a couple of months back regarding how the overall slowdown had been taking a toll on the vendor community.

The company’s spokesperson in a sense confirming the development, said that had been some churn in the overall dealership of the company, owing to the overall slowdown in the market. The spokesperson also said that the company has added new dealers. But they did not tell us how many new dealers were inducted.

The company has also come up with a new dealer policy called the 'Horizon Next'. It is in an attempt to forge a tighter relationship. Currently, things do not look good for Tata Motors .

Hey guys,

Is TATA shutting down its local Sales and Servicing centers. Below is the image of a TATA service centre of Patran City in Patiala Distt - Punjab. They shut it down without any prior information. Now for the servicing we have to go to Patiala that is about 65 KMs from here [frustration]

Seems TATA's declining sales chart is damaging a lot to them [embarass]

I have also heard that ABS motors in Gurgaon is going to shut down soon, may be this is the last month they will be operating. Clearly Tata motors never listened to the customers (Storme is an example) and the result is expected. It's not that TML can not do wonders that other car makers are doing in this tough time where every car maker is struggling for sales but it's the attitude that matters. In my friend circle not even a single person is ready to invest their hard earned money on TML, and no body is ready to believe the HORIZION Next.

Even I heard from a friend of mine that Kulathungal Motors in Trivandrum is going to show down. Not sure if its real, but its high time TML should awake now or things will go on worse.

Agreed with the views here, because of the market slowdown and some sort of recession in the automobile industry, all manufacturers are struggling to sell cars, from the pics and news of Tata dealers shutting down is a severe blow to TML,

Better they find a new way out to curb this.

Also a TATA showroom, AUTOFIN, with three branches across Hyderabad (Secunderabad, Bowenpally and Malakpet) has shut the showrooms nearly more than a year ago. It now has shifted to MARUTI, with two showroom in Secunderabad and Bowenpally.

Meanwhile it has added a new showroom in Madhapur, TEJASWINI MOTORS, which incidentally has also got the FIAT dealership in Jubilee Hills Check post.

If TATA will Consider Rover Brand for Exporst Market then whats Next?

Hey friends this is an intresting topic I would like to Share My ideas About TATA Motors.

Rover_CityRover.jpg

So we all well know that TATA onws Jaguar,Land Rover Brands and long with they have right to use Rover,Dailmer and Lanchester marque Brands With VW, Nissan,Renault and co building/ preparing to build cars in India, TATA needs to begin looking for exports and really needs to look at building cars for wealth western markets. Otherwise TATA could become a footnote in automotive history.

It seems to me that TATA has always struggled to see how it can successful sell a Skoda Superb/ VW Jetta sized car in India and yet this is the kind of car that TATA needs to sell in international markets.

In my view TATA should work on a new range of cars designed primarily for Europe and America. From one floorpan they should build the following:

- A Superb sized car (Saloon/ Estate)
- A Octavia/Golf sized car (hatchback)
- A large MPV's like ARIA
- A SWB MPV

By sharing components costs could be minimised. To get the cars into as many dealers as possible in the West the JLR dealer chain could be used, but only if the Rover brand is used.

In India and in countries where there is a strong TATA presence then it may make sense to use the TATA brand.

TATA needs to sell cars abroad and it needs to establish itself quickly before the rest of the world take on TATA on it's home turf. The JLR dealers and the Rover brand offer TATA a quick win. As long as the cars can match the likes of Honda for quality.

Currently what is the state of Rover brand ? I mean is it currently in the market?

What about Tata treated as low cost brand of JLR ?? I don't think it will happen..!!

Source:Rover (marque) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rover was a British automotive marque used between 1904 and 2005. It was launched as a bicycle maker called Rover Company in 1878, before manufacturing cars in 1904. The brand used the iconic Viking longship as its logo.
Despite a state-controlled absorption by the Leyland Motor Corporation (LMC) in 1967 and subsequent mergers, nationalisation, and de-mergers, the Rover marque retained its identity first as an independent subsidiary division of LMC, then through variously named groups of British Leyland through the 1970s and into the 1980s.
The Rover marque became the primary brand of the then newly renamed Rover Group in 1988 as it passed first through the hands of British Aerospace and into the ownership of BMW Group. Sharing technology with Honda and financial investment during the BMW ownership led to a revival of the marque during the 1990s in its core midsize segment.[1]
In 2000, BMW sold the Rover and related MG car activities of the Rover Group to the Phoenix Consortium, who established the MG Rover Group at Longbridge. BMW retained ownership of the Rover marque, allowing MG Rover to use it under licence. In April 2005, Rover branded cars ceased to be produced when the MG Rover Group became insolvent.
BMW sold the Rover marque to Ford in 2006 for approximately £6 million, exercising an option of first refusal to buy it dating back to its purchase of Land Rover. Ford thus reunited the original Rover Company marques, primarily for brand-protection reasons.[2]
In March 2008, Ford reached agreement with Tata Motors of India to include the Rover marque as part of the sale of their Jaguar Land Rover operations to them, alongside related Daimler and Lanchester marques. Legally the Rover marque is the property of Land Rover under the terms of Ford's purchase of the name in 2006.[3]
In the middle of the decade, SAIC Motor Corporation Limited attempted to acquire MG Rover, but in 2005 was outbid by another Chinese automaker, Nanjing Automobile. SAIC did manage to obtain some MG Rover technology that was incorporated into a new line of luxury sedans under the Roewe marque.
With no Rover vehicles currently in production, the marque is considered dormant

If TATA want means Rover Brand can be position between price band of TATA cars and JLR Cars around 10Lacks to 25Lacks price range of vehicles [;)]
Rover as a brand has lost its value in EUROPE. Hence reviving the Rover brand to place it above TATA and below JLR would not be a good idea. TATA as a brand is relatively non existent in Europe. TATA can place itself in between JLR and Rover, with Rover as its low cost brand. Rover Nano may be.

With MBQ type platform in the pipeline, TATA in my opinion is trying to place itself as VW.

However in India it would be linked to LandRovers, RangeRovers and "Rover" brand be linked to JLR, can give a perception of a synergies between TML and JLR. Therefore positioning Rover between JLR and TML may infact work.
