Yesterday I got the Hawk HID fitted!! Not a branded one, but with slim ballast and plug n play kit only.
Costed 5K. 35Watts 6000K. I am not sure about the results compared to P8, Osram, Philiphs etc.
As mentioned by you guys, they spliced the rubber cover, apart from that its all just plugged and ballast tighten with existing bolts.
Also High beam replaced with Osram Night breaker unlimited. But i cant see visual difference, may be need check in highways. But problem is low beam looks white and high beam yellowish [cry]

The colour difference is because the Osram NBs are closer to 5000K.

Please post the pics.

I am also planning the following upgrades to mine.

1. Hella 700FFs with stock halogens for now
2. Osram NBs in high beams? care to share the cost of the NBs?

I already have a 40W LED bar for flood lighting. and 55W 4300K HIDs in Low beams

Planning to put some HID in the Hellas after sometime.

regards,
Kinshuk

I have been using Philips HID 35W 6000K on my low beam and the throw is pretty awesome. I have driven in heavy rains and I felt no issues in visibility compared to halogens. They are really easy to install very much like a plug and play !

I also use Hella 3003 Rallye connected to my high beam and the result is just fantastic. Since I do a lot of highways having an auxiliary light makes me more confident.

Hi Ruchit,

can you post some pics of the beam throw of the Hellas? I am also planning to get the 700FFs for mine.

Also if possible please shed some light on how you have mounted them? any WIP pics?
are the brackets welded or bolted or clamped and where?

Hi,

Well I don't have any picture of the Hella's in action. Will definitely click this time when I am on highway.

As for installing this was my last month's DIY Project, I have drilled holes on the front impact bars and bolted them using a thick nut & bolt. I have used a oval shape pipe for mounting the lamps and they don't shake at all even on potholes ! Do not use any kind of flat type iron for the lamps as they always tend to shake no matter how thick you get them.

I have actually welded the clamps on the iron piece so that there is not visual of the bolt protruding and then got it powder coated.

Since I am very skeptical about wiring and the way it should be done so I took the liberty of doing the wiring too by myself.

Hey guys got the Hella Rallye 700FFs installed on mine. The daylight beam looks promising in a dark parking lo. Still need to check out the night time beams.

Will Update soon with beam pics.

Hi Kinshuk,

Need some advise from you on upgrade of my XUV500 low beam. What are the best kits to go for? Someone referred to me 55W/4300K from P8 while one of the contacts has recommended 35W/4300K from Couldron (thats what I could make of the brand; not sure if I got the name correct).
Whats your call on my choices?

I have no idea about the brands in the HID segment. Have heard only of Philips, Osram and P8. I got mine from a friend of mine from bangalore. they are nameless.

Get 55Ws if you can otherwise go for 35W.

Looks great. Is that a light bar between the foggies ? How do they perform ?
Thanks. Yes that is a 4*10W LED bar sourced it from Aliexpress. Not a big fan of that lightning. They are mostly flood lightning for not more than a 100 feet.

Wow ! [clap]

Could you please share more pictures of inner area where you have mounted / welded the clamps ?

Do you have a toggle switch for Hella's or does it turn on all the time with High Beam ?

There was nothing in WIP pics.

All they did was fabricate an 8 inch by 1.5inch Iron plate. drilled 2 holes in it on either side. Drilled one hole in the Crossmember right behind the grill bolted the iron strip to the cross memberand bolted the Hella Light on the other sied.

For the wiring they refered to the Hella manual did it as per it. took the switch and mounted it on the lower dashboard panel behind the steering.

For the wire in XUV there is a rubber grommet behind the engine cover. it was cut slightly and the wires went in from there to the rear of the center console.

Let me know if any more info is required. I will be going on a long drive tomorrow so should get a proper chance to test the lights on the highway.

Do you feel any difference in cabin noise level?
Earlier in my hyundai accent i need to cut the rubber to take the wires for additional horn to the dash board. After doing it i could hear engine noise a little inside. For a small hole it created a lot of difference.
