I am planning for below mods in my XUV, can you guys please give your inputs
1. Upgrading to HID
Thinking of following two options
a.HID for projector lights and Fog lamps
b. HID for Fog lamps alone
My requirement is,
- It should be white colored (~6000K) HID lights + brighter
- It should not disturb existing electricals/wiring
- I wish to use those parking LEDs and FOG lights to drive in well lit roads (so need the Fog light to match the color of LED lights)
- Since the HID white lights looks good on projector headlights, thinking about that too
2. Going for 3M glossy black sticker on the roof. But not fully covered, only for the front flat portion of the roof. My queries are,
- Will it look good for XUV that too only in the front?
- Is it possible to peel off later, or the removing the gum will be a problem?

Please advice

Buddy make sure the light does not scatter because what I have been told is that HID does make light scatter.

Quarter/Half Gloss Black roof wont look nice and neither will the full gloss black would look nice as XUV has a ribbed roof surface.

Get HIDs for low beams, Osram or philips' good bulbs for high beams and fogs are useless in XUV. HID scatters a lot when put in normal reflector like fog ones.

Get full black cover on roof partial wont look good.

1) Im using HID fogs on My thunderbolt. The output is awesome. I will also buy Low beam HIDs soon. Try HIDs on Fogs alone, afterwards you can always buy Low beam ones

2) Stay away from White 6000k Lamps. Infact Im having a hard time finding Proper 4300K tint for HIDs. The WHITE ones generate extra glare and scatter. Also they're a cop magnet.

3) HID fogs by themselves are very nice to drive around town.

4) HID in Fog is H8 so it does not disturb any wiring or socketing. It's plug and play. For Low beam h7, you need a cut inside dust cap to allow wire passing.

Guys i just browsed through and found some options, need your inputs.
Refining my requirements as well, I wanted to upgrade to get a bright light and a premium look.
So a brighter white light will be good is what i think, it can be halogen or HID.
Will this satisfy my requirements?
Below are halogen bulbs only and just replacement of bulb
1. Low Beam - Philips Crystal Vision H7 4300K Halogen bulb (or this no where comes near HID?)
2. High Beam - Philips Diamond Vision H7 5000K Halogen bulb
2. Fogs - Philips Whitevision H??

taxi meter,
today HID is so cheap (less than 4k ) that I'll never bother with stupid halogens. esp the blue glass crap that's sold for over 1k.

low beams are h7. fogs are h8. high beams are h15.
never install HID in high beam.

Ok, I will first start with HIDs on fog then. Have few questions,
1. Can you refer some good HID H8 kits?
2. Which color temperature i can go for ? I don't like yellowish tint, will 4300K will be little whiter or for Fogs 6000k will be fine? I dont want it to be too much white for fogs as well
3. where did you fit the ballast ?

Also for low beams any HID kit you have in your mind? again i need little whiter color

try p8 HID in 5000k. it's pure white without any hint of blue or yellow.

ballast mounting is very easy once you remove mud guard and fix the bulb.

few more questions>

1. Will this HID installation voids warranty?
2. You said H15 is for high beams, but i couldn't find any halogen upgrade for high beam H15 like philips or Osram? There is no H15 available in marked?

1. not unless you cut wires etc. a trained installer can preserve warranty.

2. don't bother with the h15. it's a rare standard. the xuv high beams are fantastic anyways...

A small correction. XUV manual has a crap entry !!

High and Low beams - H7
Fog lamps - H8
Static Bending lights - H1

P8 55w WAS close to the pricing of Philips 35w about an year back. I have P8 on mine, paid about Rs.22000/- for 2 sets including installation in Fog and Low Beam.

@TaxiMeter - If you stay anywhere near Indiranagar, you can probably take a look at mine before you decide. Don't fall prey for premium halogens, they are just bling ! More show no go !

I have been using Philips HID 35W 6000K on my low beam and the throw is pretty awesome. I have driven in heavy rains and I felt no issues in visibility compared to halogens. They are really easy to install very much like a plug and play !

I also use Hella 3003 Rallye connected to my high beam and the result is just fantastic. Since I do a lot of highways having an auxiliary light makes me more confident.
